In this video, we're driving the 2021 Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX. The Cherokee is a compact crossover that can be configured either in front-wheel-drive or 4x4. We're driving the 4x4 version with the 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 engine pushing 271-horsepower and 239 lb.ft. of torque.

I love the size of the Cherokee, versus the Grand Cherokee, in an urban setting, making parking and maneuverability much more manageable, which equates to less stress. In a rural setting, one can go either way, dependent on whether the bigger sized Grand Cherokee is particularly needed and you want to spend more money for the added 4 wheel drive modes. Otherwise, I find the slightly smaller Cherokee to be ‘just right’, from a Goldilocks perspective, in city and country driving.

I drive a 2020 Latitude + V6 and really like the vehicle. The reviewer mentioned that he couldn't see why anyone would buy a FWD Jeep. The reason I did is because I have no need for 4WD but still wanted a V6 engine. This is the only compact crossover with a V6. Also, reliability for the Cherokee was worse than average for the earlier years mainly due to problems with the 9 speed transmission. These problems have been fixed and reliability is much better in recent years.

I have a 2022 Limited 4x4 with pretty much all options except for the Tow Package, Ventilated Seats, and Nav. Loving it so far, although I have noticed a few interior rattles, but nothing is ever going to be perfect. It's not something so bad to annoy me, and the radio covers them up quite well, but just something I have noticed. That and the window switches seem to move a bit, but this seems to be an issue in a lot of FCA vehicles that use the same drop in window switches. My mom has a Renegade and hers seems solid and in place as if it were glued down, but mine not so much. So far, the transmission is smooth shifting 99.9% of the time. Unless you watch the tach or hear the change in engine speed, you can't tell it's even shifting. One of the smoothest shifting cars I have owned. It only really ever has any feel to it when I'm using cruise and it shifts from 5th down into 4th when that second dog clutch engages. And what's so strange about it, is it's really only noticeable when using cruise, almost as if the cruise isn't quite in sync with the shift. Other than that and the few rattles here and there, it's a really nice smooth riding vehicle. I was wanting to get the 2.0L Turbo after having the 2.0L EcoBoost in my Fusion, but the torque in the V6 has been more than sufficient for me. I do a lot of city and highway mixed driving, and I am averaging about 25 MPG, which is a little better than the 22 that FCA advertises as the combined fuel economy. Haven't had a chance to take it on a road trip yet, but curious to see how the mileage will vary then. Even with the V6, a lot of people on forums have said they easily get 30 mpg, even though it is only rated at 27 on the highway, at least for the 2022 model year for the 4x4 models. All in all, it's a really nice suv and I can't wait until this winter to test out the 4x4 system, that is IF we get snow.

I've driven a 2015 model Cherokee and currently have 156,000 miles on it. It's been a pretty dependable vehicle. I have the V6 engine and I feel it provides adequate acceleration on the highway for passing. I had a problem with the transmission in 2018 that was covered under warranty. The gearbox was synched into a lower gear and was fixed at the dealer. Otherwise, normal wear and tear maintenance such as brakes and oil changes over the years. I am unhappy with the the quality of the molding and other interior features. I have a moonroof and I've epoxied the molding around the glass twice--2016, 2021. The side molding around the tire fender came loose and was glued--2019, 2021 and the rubber molding around the hatch also needed to be glued in place--2017. Additionally the cloth driver side seat has split along the seam--2019. I've taken the Cherokee on some gravel and dirt roads and I live in an area that averages about 20+" of snow a year, no issues and actually it's fun to drive in the snow.

I’m about to trade in my 2019 lattitude plus with a 4 cylinder for this vehicle, do you think it’ll be a noticeable power difference? The 4 cylinder kills me trying to get to highway speeds lol

I had the 2021 Jeep Cherokee Altitude (also called Latitude Plus), with the base engine and traded it for the 2021 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Lux with a V6 engine. It made a world of difference in terms of speed and confidence on the road. Going from Latitude Plus to Latitude Lux trim, also made the car much more comfortable as well as luxurious looking, inside and out. Although the upgrades ended up costing another $7000, it was worth it. The upgraded Alpine surround sound system, panoramic glass roof, increased towing from 2000 LB to 4500 LB, bigger infotainment center, dual climate control, auto tailgate control, auto rear view mirror dimming, comfy Nappa leather seats with power adjustment for both driver and passenger, better looking interior along with exterior chrome trim, including chromed dual exhausts and an anti theft alarm, are all very welcoming. Surprisingly, the doors also feel heavier and more substantial. I’m wondering if others have noticed stouter doors?

@@russellhaack I couldn’t have said it better myself, I couldn’t love this vehicle more, it has the perfect amount of power, while maintaining all of the higher end features as you mentioned. Hope it lasts you many years!😊

“So, if you want more of those higher end autonomous features, you should look at another vehicle”. That’s misleading. More accurately, you only have to look at a higher trim level.

If I remember correctly, they don’t go completely flat. I could be wrong though.. it’s been a while. Maybe a Jeep guy or owner can answer better.
