The #AcuraIntegra is a powerful name among enthusiasts. When #Acura first announced the return of the #Integra name, it got a lot of hype due to its 25 year hiatus. The newest Integra has evolved into a much more sophisticated machine, but the basic formula is still there. Honda Civic bones with a more premium and mature feel. The #IntegraASpec adds more visual flair and its one of the very few vehicles in its segment to still offer a 6-speed manual transmission.

So we hear rumors that Acura is doing some Integra Type S prototype drives for media out in Japan next month and while the company has been quiet about the existence of the Type S, we expect an official announcement to happen before the end of the year. Are you guys excited for the higher performance variant?

I dont care WHAT these bozos say. I WANT that last of the last Type-S Manual transmission as it will probably be the final 'row your own gears' chance before every car manufacturer goes all electric by 2030+. And so before all these whiners and complainers know it, they will have missed their chance to get one for themselves and I will be laughing maniacally until my throat is sore while sitting in one, thank u very much~ Have a nice life! Smart move , realistically the Integra is about the same as the Civic touring. @star662 Where did you pull that stat from? The manuals are getting scooped up and you wont be able to get one till March next year if you order one right now. The ones on the lot are demo cars, not for sale. The Integra posted 1500 units per month consistently from its first month in June till September (1500 was the max allocation of the production line based on available chips). In October, they were somehow able to boost that to 2500 sales (sales = deliveries in the car industry, not orders). I think its doing VERY well compared to its competitors (look up CLA, 228 GC, A3, Jetta sales)

When you really think sensibly the CVT makes sense. This is an entry level model for people wanting a nice daily driver. A DCT would raise the cost and make things far too complicated and expensive to replace. Honda's CVTs are really good around town. I personally only have bought manual cars all my life, but if I was getting an auto, might as well get a Honda CVT because it was the best experience around town - super smooth, surprisingly quick response for a CVT and no head jerking that annoys me in conventional autos when they shift whenever they want.

There's not enough for me, to make me buy it over the Si. It's obvious that they brought back the Integra name because it's a powerful nostalgic connection of Acura of old. It’s true it really is an adult friendly sporty sedan. I was pleasantly surprised at how it easy it was to drive the manual!!! If you’ve never driven manual before but always wanted to and be forgiven this is the car for you. It’s comfortable, forgiving, and very rewarding. I had an 01 Integra and this new generation does carry some of that old Integra spirit over. Yes, it’s not a fast car, but it’s slow car fast/quick and it’s a lot of fun. Now I’m patiently waiting for my new 6 speed Integra to arrive in December! Thanks for the awesome review as always!

Beauty being in the eye of the beholder and of course, subjective, I find the car so plain Jane for an Integra. The prior generation model was so distinctive looking and even more so compared to this generic Asian car. An Acura that doesn’t even have rear A.C. vents. I don’t see any reason to go for the Acura for more money over the Honda version. Nonetheless, another great and thorough review. You got the format nailed down.

Just know that the 10-speed automatic in the Accord Touring 2.0T and the TLX/TLX A-Spec is never happening and the chances of the old ILX's 8-speed DCT going in the Integra Type S is a very slim one to not happening ever at all. For it to save money, it may just be manual-only just like the FL5 Civic Type R and if that's to be the case, I'll be perfectly happy of that as I drive a manual transmission now as my daily and would love to add a 2nd manual transmission car to my fleet. Anything missing in the Integra Type S like its competitors like heated and cooled seats, rear passenger vents, and whatever else may get put on the Integra Type S, but do expect the Integra Type S to be nearly identical to the price of the FL5 Civic Type R if anything. If you want the raw, visceral feel, you get the Honda. If you want the subtle, but still powerful with the nicer amenities and niceties and under the radar sleeper appearance, you get the Acura.

The ILX was ancient on the 9th gen Civic/Civic Si platform. Acura did not have the money to recertify and tweak the 8-speed DCT for the new Integra. That's why 70% of the buyers chose the manual because they believe the Integra was meant to be had and driven with a manual like past Integras and the RSX were.

The max production capacity from its release in June to September was only 1500 units per month due to chip allocations (by they way, 1500 units per month is really good for a sedan. How many 2022 Civic Sis do you see on the road?). They were able to increase 2500 units in October which is remarkable. For comparison sake, the Civic sells (delivers) around 10,000 units a month (and that is across all Civic models, so the SI is FAR less).

The Civic touring is an excellent car. The only reason to upgrade to an Integra would be the sportier tune and limited slip diff (and a manual trans if you want it) on higher end models, along with slightly nicer sound system. But if those things dont matter as much, theres no reason for you to change. The Integra does ride a little stiffer and has a bit more road noise (probably from the tires).

Why acura why? Why use the same Si engine. You could slap a TLX 2.0T here and call it a day. The Type S can still benefit from the Type R high output engine. That would be the perfect line up. Cant justify $38k price tag.
@antoinelee-thomas9536
@antoinelee-thomas9536 Жыл бұрын
Why? Because the 2.0T engine belongs to the Civic side first. Plus, there's nothing wrong with the 1.5T Civic Si engine. Any issues of the 10th gen Civic Si you may have about the 1.5T engine has long since been rectified even when the engine was reworked for the 11th gen Civic Si. The 2.0T engine is coming. Just not out of the TLX A-Spec. The 2.0T engine is coming out of the FL5 Civic Type R. That will be the Integra Type S with the Civic Type R power. Most likely, the Integra Type S price tag could likely end up being the same price tag as the Civic Type R with the Integra Type S having more amenities and niceties over the Civic Type R.
@Marbind
@Marbind Жыл бұрын
@@antoinelee-thomas9536 biggest problem of the 1.5T is that is too underpowered for a 38K car. The TLX 2.0t is a better fit at this price point. It can coexist with the TypeR 2.0t without issues.

@@Marbind I actually dont care about power as much as fun. Was'nt that always the Integra formula? When was an Integra ever a fast car? A 2.0 engine would have made it heavier on the front; if you drive this new Integra or the new SI, its remarkable how agile the front is to turn in and change direction because of how much lighter the 1.5 is. The other day an IS350Fsport came up behind me aggressively tail-gating me and revving just before we got onto the on-ramp. It sounded incredible with that ancient but epic V6 and aftermarket exhaust. I was still breaking in the Integra and was cruising in 4th at 2000 rpm in Normal mode. I thought "why not..." so I accelerated without downshifting or changing to sport mode and I absolutely DUSTED the dude in that corner....I gapped him 5 car lengths in 2 seconds and his tires were screaming and I was not even trying. Completed emasculated him and hurt his ego. Of course once we were on the highway he caught up and flew by. But anyone can go fast in a straight line upto the speed limit; I can have fun in corners within the speed limit. Its got that old-Honda magic.

You also think that the ITS isn't coming with that engine out of the Type R. The Type R hasn't even gotten on the road yet and had its road time with the revised 2.0T engine. I watched Alex On Autos video of the Integra A-Spec Tech Pack manual transmission and he said the same thing. I find that hard to believe because I think Alex and Sofyan switch the settings into Sport Mode or customized the Individual Mode with engine sound in Sport and everything else in Comfort which is why he got the road noise through the pumped in audio from the speakers of the road. That sounds like an intentional driver thing and not the car itself. I highly doubt the car has road noise for that being a new car. Even if it does, if you don't want to hear any road noise, you leave the settings in its default setup which is all Comfort Mode and you won't hear anything.
