Underestimating Piastri. 5 races since the summer break, 3 of them Lando had a newer spec car. Oscar was ordered to slow down so Lando could hold onto 4th in one of them. When both drivers had the same spec in Brazil, team orders came into play in both races.

Given the current standings i think 9th is the most realistic prediction for williams now. Theyre 27 points below RB in 8th and theyve only scored 17 points in the entire season so far.

Vegas is the real Rolex out there when it comes casino/hotel destinations. All other cities around the world, especially the ones in the middle East, are copies. And I quite like it. It's clean, the surroundings of the city are beautiful, and it's surrounded by that alien conspiracy stuff that makes it more fun haha

Leclerc was unlucky last year with how the safety cars fell and even 2nd was quite remarkable for him in that race. Ferrari is a much better car this year and I think if he qualifies in the first or second row he will be tough to beat with Calos perhaps being his closer challenger who will be highly motivated to get a win just to show what a mistake Ferrari have made with letting him go.

I am rather sick of all of this Las Vegas hate. Yes it's first year out had many, many issues to deal with but! But the most important thing you can say is that it had good racing! And bonus it was a beautiful looking race! Everything I can say that I hated about the North Dade County Grand Prix (AKA what some people foolishly call the Miami Grand Prix) is flipped on its tail. It is not a parking lot race going around a football stadium tens miles away from the city it is actualy named for with mediocre racing due to the nature of most street course. Whereas beautifully and maybe some what ironically the main feature of the Vegas track, Las Vegas blvd, made for some of the best racing that happened last year! Especially on a street track! I've been an F1 fan for over 15 years now and I have had plenty of early, very early mornings so don't cry me a river that you have to get up early to watch One race in Las Vegas at least you're still in the middle of the weekend for god sakes! If the racing just sucks this year come back to me and I will reassess otherwise shut it.

I'm going with Sainz for an outside pick. I think he would've been right up there last year if not for the penalty. Leclerc beat him in qualifying by .05 seconds. That's nothing.

For the 2nd year, F1 looks like it'll dodge the weather. Last year there was a typical winter wind storm a few hours after the race finished. This year the race weekend is uncommonly warm. Assuming the lawsuits don't end this race contract early, at some point the overnight lows will be typical, making it miserable to watch live and the tires unworkable.

McLaren WDC strategy for the remaining races: Lando stsrts at the back with an engine penalty, oscar starts in front of him. Oscar runs new softs. Off the line, oscar sends it directly through turn one bottas style from p19 and removes the rest of the cars. Lando finishes first, and as the only driver left, with fastest lap. If oscar gets his liscense revoked, they bring in KMag.

McLaren was barely faster than the Red Bull and the Ferrari in Brazil, in the dry they could hardly get out of DRS from Max and Charles - they just benefitted from a better qualifying - , and in the wet, especially with that high downforce rear wing, they looked more like an alpine than alpine did that weekend. But I agree, Oscar and Lando won't look good that weekend, that track does not benefit that car at all... Ferrari is faster in slow speed corners, red bulls main issue is curbs. Vegas has no curbs to speak of and only really slow speed corners, so I would see them as the third fastest car that weekend. They'll be back on top in Quatar.

The merc hasnt been bad in the colder races this year and seems to work well on a lower downforce setup . so if they nail the track specific upgrades and the setup (and prevent the car from bouncing wildly) they might be in the mix but thats a lot of “ ifs”.

FP3 has yet to happen and this narrative has played out so many times this year. Friday looks good but then both Lewis and George are flummoxed as to where the pace has gone the following day. Also the race is projected to be warmer than practice.

@@LawVS Thanks for getting back to me. I can't disagree with the trend as described (re Mercedes' puzzling post practice session results). However, there's a certain air of Lewis making a point in his own quiet way, with the team focussing on reversing the poor performance of their car and Darth Toto's faux pas. The conditions did indeed favour the Mercedes, and it might be warmer, but the struggle is real for them all. I say short of sandbagging on certain team's parts this Sunday should be a good show.
