Jalen Johnson didn’t play 65G so he’s ineligible for MIP as far as I know. If he did meet that limit he def should’ve gotten some love in the voting, prolly 3rd or at least 4th. I personally would vote Coby White 1, but I understand why Maxey will prolly win. If he turned in to an All-NBA guy this year I’d agree with it but I can’t hate. Jalen Johnson should be super good, they need to move one of Trae and Dejounte. If they can get their 2025/2027 1sts and ‘26 swap back from SAS for Trae, along with one more good piece (maybe like the CHI 1st SAS owns, or at least the best of SAS/DAL 1st in 2030) along with expiring contracts, then I’d do that. Dejounte is on a good contract. Then I’d prolly re-sign Saddiq for like 3y/$36M-$40M something around the MLE. I’d look to move Bogdan bc of his age. He is on a team friendly deal, 17.26M, 16M, then a team option for 16M. Should be able to get a solid 1st for him. I’d shop Capela for sure, if you can get a late FRP for him I’d do that. Hunter is tough, I’d take calls on him but I don’t think he’d get much in trade so I doubt I’d move him. AJ Griffin with Bogdan and Trae gone, I’d like to give him way more mins at the 2 and see how he does. Dejounte/AJ/Hunter/JJ/Onyeka is solid. Bufkin off the bench, with P10 I’d also like Dalton Knecht if he fell there, a 6’6 wing that seems like he can be a good volume 3P shooter, decent defender, and can grab and go a bit sounds good for P10. So Dejounte, Bufkin, AJ, Knecht, Hunter, Saddiq, JJ, Onyeka, Gueye…then having all their own 1sts plus SAC’s 1st in ‘25 or ‘26, that CHI ‘25 1st OR best of SAS/DAL ‘30 1st, then two other 1sts from Bogdan and Capela would be really nice. That’s +4 on 1sts plus Knecht, and they’d have Dejounte making 25-26M, Hunter at 22, Onyeka 14, Saddiq like 13-14, JJ/Bufkin/AJ all around 3.9-4.5, Knecht at a few mill, Gueye at 2M, then a ton of expirings from the Capela/Bogdan/Trae trades. They could re-tool using all those extra picks, then in 25-26 all they have to do is pay Jalen which unless he goes absolutely bonkers next year shouldn’t cost more than like…4/90? Something like that? So ya that’s what I’d attempt to do. AJ only played 20g at 8.6MPG this year idk what that was about but I’d certainly be getting him like 20-25MPG next season. Building around Dejounte on his good contract will be way easier bc they’d have a ton of money to make moves. JMO.
