Whoever prepared this failed miserably. You are demoing his new bass and we can BARELY HEAR IT in this mix, holy hell. Just give us a bass solo if the video is only going to be 1 minute long.

Well, that is john myungs whole thing... he's laughably inaudible in dream theater But I do agree, that was a bad call

That’s exact reason why I like Billy sheehan more. Of course I know Mr. Myung plays well, but I can’t hear his sound. Of no use.

How about isolating the bass? It's not nearly loud enough in the mix.
@GaryMcNeill9 күн бұрын
I can hear it ok. Its not super loud, but I can definitely pick it out above a normal DT mix.

it's good enough to bridge between beat and melody. a true functionality of a bass combined with the masterpiece playing of a maestro
@JustSwivel28 күн бұрын
@@bozopennywize yes, I understand what you're saying - but this isn't a mix for a dream theater tiny desk concert. It's a commercial for the bass. The average person or even intermediate musician isn't going to hear this and go "I need to purchase this bass." They're going to say "Yes, John is spectacular. Dream Theater rules." It might help sales if they highlighted the versatility in tones, pickups, and the bass in general.

You almost have to admire Ernie Ball's commitment to never turning up the bass in the John Myung promo vids, despite everyone clearly wanting it.

John is a unique bass player. Everyone sees his virtuoso playing, but no one hears.
@TheGreatBaronOBeefDip10 күн бұрын
I am pretty good at picking the bass out in the music, but damn if John Myung's presence in the mix didn't somehow match his demeanor, quiet and reserved, he probably tried speaking up about it but no one heard him.

It's funny how much the new orange finish pops out brightly on stage when John has been inconspicuously playing black basses for the last 15 years. The orange one is growing on me, the blue one is beautiful.

I would be interested in trying the JM model. If I had to have one it would need to be in the mantis green.

@@bmstylee I have small fingers, I got the one in silver, most comfortable neck I've ever played. I love the Mantis Green finish.

@@Fancy_Lebowski in looking at one. I love my Kiesel 6 string. The Zeus is a really good looking axe. But some of the stretches at the bottom of the neck are long. The multi scale is cool and all but not really built for Dream Theater.

I don't see Petrucci or Jordan performing in this video but can hear them shredding. I wish EBMM does a demo video highlighting the tones that can be dialed on this bass.

Please, don't try to claim it's modern or sleek. It has comically large headstock. Especially in Music Man lineup it's quite obvious. The light hardware and honestly quite compelling design is ruined by this and it's like this for twenty years.
