Sadly I agree with the statement "Sadly the V8 is gone"!! Just ended a cross country cruise in my V8 GX460, what an amazing vehicle, got an average of 21,9 MPG ( a lot of 80 plus MPH). Last year I did a similar trip in my 2022 Tundra 1794 with twin turbo V6, it never cracked the 17 MPG. Still love the power, but don't fool yourself and believe you'll get great MPG with the twin turbo.

Luxury+ fully loaded, captains chairs riding in 18s with AT tires is a perfect balance of lux and off road. Rear locker only sacrifice but not deal breaker since it can be simulated by this trim.

Even as a GX 460 owner I do make the comparison and parallel to the G-class but I would never go as far as to say it isn't built to last. After all the G-wagon hasn't changed much since 1977 which I would say makes it extremely forward thinking by comparison with the Land cruiser which has changed many times since 1977. Infact the Prado didn't even exist. I always respect the Mercedes. It's a different breed in the same class

I’ve always been LC / LX (100/200 series) guy, but this is the first time I’m considering a GX. I’m really happy with everything on this new model. While I like the LX600, the infotainment system isn’t up to par for 100k+. This is just about the same size and has a much better interior design in my opinion. Definitely will consider this purchase in the Spring as long as Dealers aren’t markup happy.

Given all of Toyota's production challenges, I think any of us needing to replace aging Land Cruisers will have to wait until at least 2026 to buy one, and even then we will need to order and wait a year. Which is ridiculous for these days. I should be able to walk into a Lexus dealership and buy one by mid-2024.
