Ayyy. Got a build for ya, one that involves a ship you don't seem to run very often; The Courser. I call it, "The Space Tarantula." All you need is Courser (obviously), Split shot (or any single shot weapon with Volley), Targeting + Guidance + Convergence, and enough damage and Projectile Size/Velocity to mitigate the relatively short range from its low bullet lifespan. Voila, now crawl across the cosmos and ensnare all who oppose your might!

My new guilty pleasure build is Propulsive Munitions (and as much Heavy Caliber as I can get) + Celestial Surge. It's one of the few crash builds where I don't take Hidden Power, just so I can fire my weapon to go from 0 to 180 near-instantly. The near-instant acceleration minimizes burn damage from Celestial Lance, and I can brake almost immediately to fire a huge Surge. It's so stupid, but so much fun, I love this game.

Fun fact, my school required us to buy the TI Nspire (like, $300+ at the time) for pre-calc… and it was disallowed on the ACT. You had to have a TI83 or lower. Total sham

Honestly with these sorts of Omnishield builds, Essence Sap is solid- since you have Gemini Protocol, every bit of hull health you regain is essentially an extra point of shield as well.

@@BrianatorFTW I think if anything it'd help? Essence Sap ONLY changes hull regeneration (I believe) and so the shield regen is unaffected. But if your hull goes to 0, then Gemini Protocol will no longer proc, and your shield will take full damage. So anything you can do to keep your hull at an amount greater than the incoming hits is beneficial.

@@Earthenfist alright I double checked, it does only mention hull regeneration. while that makes things like channeling (armor stacks give regen), efficiency (not firing increases regen), Hidden Power's regen buff, and all benefit from hypermetabolism non-existent I do relent that the Shield Regeneration mod does also reduce all hull regen while shield is up by like half so it just comes if essence sap's 10%maxhull/second max (only can do so if you do enough damage, though that shouldn't be too hard with such little hull) is better then the slightly more consistent hull regen from all other sources

I had a hunch trying this with siphon instead of halo might be safer since halo hurts you when attacking and siphon heals you. It's definitely really good still, especially against tracers and eclipses, but enemies generally die later, giving them more time to attack. I think the siphon heal versus the extra purification is probably a wash.

The problem that Siphon has, is that it doesn't clear out asteroids or mines. And it takes a bit to tick too. So you end up dying a lot because of small things in your way. I really want to love Siphon, but Halo is strictly superior most of the time.

@@lonewaer Yeah those are fair points. You can get apostlehostess to help with the rocks, but it's a trade-off. I do like siphon better with charged (non-sanctuary) shield, since it becomes way larger in radius. And an option to help the dots is shielded constructs. It reduces the radius back down, but it's still a respectable size.

you should try an all blink build Necessary mods: warp shield, blink, strafe (for the displacement to boost blink damage), temp break, emergency system Desired mods: Phantom strike, discord orb, Death blossom, Bravado, outrage module, essence sap tree Recommended repeats: defiance, evo niche, energized shields, galvanic, scorching wake, rampage body: your choice between hull breaker and firefly(I did with hull breaker, was fun) weapon: your choice (I pulsed plus propulsive munitions, SPEEEED) Hope you enjoy, also works if you swap the blink kit with celestial lance and halo shield. I haven't gotten it to work since the last update, and think you'll enjoy!

Siphon shield. Thermal Lance. Pursuit drones. Loaded mines. This will give you global map clear in lots of sources. Although I wonder if a minefield ability to drop more mines to layer more burning lances across the map even if each mine is smaller and does less burn. To make it more reliable than the super singular mine that often gets rammed or isn't spinning to win. And those immunity shields? Will disappear.

That's definitely viable. Having played a few high shield/hull builds myself, it's hard to explain just how effective scaling regen is. It's just a single line of the description, but wow 'regeneration rate is based on max shields(/hull)' is really important. Tempest Break is great, it's just that shield cooldown alone doesn't add up as well as max hp _and_ increased regen.

Safety. A lot of the time if I go in without dealing with the adds first (specifically the grenade guys), then I end up getting taken out before the boss does. This way is much more consistent, which is important when you're recording a video and have a schedule to keep. 😅

I do not understand why they think that Sanctuary is good here. I never was able to make it work. Yeah is makes the shield a little bit better, but it recovers from damage SO MUCH SLOWER, it just not worth it. They literally struggled for the entire run keeping the shield up and complained about it, and anyone with less exceptional piloting skills would die long ago, but somehow they still pick Sanctuary for whatever weird reason they have. Sanctuary may be ok for slow tanky builds with strong hulls and frequent shield breaks in conjunction with Volatile shields/Death blossom for its knockback resistance, but certainly not for Omni. -30% thrust and Aegis prereq, clearly suggest that you are supposed to be more-or-less stationary with Sanctuary, instead of piloting the heck out of it just to stay alive. And Sanctuary's "downside" is actually useful exactly in Death blossom builds.

You seem to be missing the most important part about sanctuary: it's ability to recover shields the more damaged the shield is. For an omnishield build with a lot of self-damage, it's HUGELY beneficial. It's one of the only reasons a build like this can work as well as it does. You say it's good for shields that frequently break, but it's actually quite the opposite. If you want a shield to break regularly you take Tempest. Sanctuary is built specifically to make your shield as break-proof as possible.

@@UltraC I know that it recovers your shield faster when it is damaged. The problem with it is that you usually die not because of steady consistent mediocre damage (in which case it would work), but to a sudden burst. So when recovery slows down at 40-50% you are still very vulnerable. Without Sunctuary by this time you will have a fully recovered shield. I suggest you to take Excel and do some math. Check how both shields react to regular 10% damage, regular 30% damage and regular 60% damage (try different intervals). And you will see what I mean.

No offense, but this sounds like advice that comes from someone that doesn't have that much experience in the game. Big hits aren't the main things that get you killed in this game. Death by a thousand cuts happens quite frequently in this game as well, ESPECIALLY when you have a significant amount of self-damage. On top of all of that, on high waves there's so many bullets and enemies spawning that you just won't have enough time to get a full shield reset. I guarantee I would have died much, much earlier if I didn't have Sanctuary.

@@UltraC 189 hours here. You always run Omni with Maelstorm, so unless you are very unlucky bullets are the least of your problems. I actually did some tests running the same build with and without Sanctuary and I feel a lot safer without it. I think there is not much sense arguing about it, though. If you did such tests too and Sanctuary works better for you, then of course use it. If you did not and just think that it is better without actual testing, well it is up to you if you want to confirm/disprove it.
