It's now officially season 2 of Ring of The Hawk. We kick off the new season with 3 Minute Warning Jamal and Rosey for their WWE run in 2002/2003. This was a team I enjoyed as kid so I'm looking forward to it. They faced the Dudley's alot and there was a really good PPV table match against them. Both men are now deceased. Jamal went on to be a big star as Umaga.

That reference done by Eric Bischoff at this year's Hall of Fame is the closest we will have to a 3-minute-warning reunion. It's also crazy to think the only match i remembered vividly from them (their table elimination bout at Survivor Series '02), was their best match. Congrats on the success of your channel, Hawk. @@pikkon899 I'm not disputing the fact that he got over, and that's a credit to him. But a gimmick that is an overly effeminate stereotypical stylist was always gonna be destined for the lower mid card at best and I personally think it was a waste of his talent. The same applies to Nick Dinsmore... great wrestler lumped with a mid card gimmick.
@pikkon899
@pikkon899 2 жыл бұрын
@@jimbo_1312 Rico belonged in the mid card. That's where he did his best work. The Billy & Chuck angle was covered in the media when the story was leading up to the wedding. The gay community was also for the wedding. For being considered "mid card" that's pretty damn good. Rico didn't belong in the main event and people still remember Rico for that gimmick. No one wanted to see Rico in the main event. They wanted to see Rico be Rico and he delivered.

Jamal/Umaga/Eddie Fatu was a athletic beast for his size. I consider him up there with Bam Bam Bigelow, Vader, and many of the other super heavyweight guys. Thing is, Umaga sold well, had credible and innovative offense, and bad the speed to make his timing count. A major shame his demons got their pound of flesh from Eddie Fatu, the man was not just a Samoan, but he was one of the better ones too. Rest in power to them both, Rosie and Jamal. Hope they found what they needed in the afterlife.

Apparently, and i’m not an encyclopedia so I don’t know verbatim, but I believe it was the Raw after Unforgiven 2002, 3 Minute Warning came out and beat up some female extras for an in ring segment. Neither of the women were trained wrestlers and one of them claimed that Rosey and Jamal were incredibly stiff and she ended up suffering from a fracture clavicle or something along the sort. That was the most famous incident of Jamal’s claimed carelessness and I assume it didn’t really do him much favors

I think its interesting the idea they had to bring them back together in 2006. After The Hurricane became Gregory Helms again they were going to bring them as team back on RAW. For some reason or another it was axed, Rosey was released and Umaga debuted in 2006. I suppose the Umaga gimmick had more life to it. Its sad that both Rosey and Jamal/Umaga have both passed away. Season 2 of ROH and im here for it and Vito in WWE run has a chance again lol. Btw i dont know why i support Vito so much i just want to see it covered for a laugh

The reason why the "meeting of the minds" didn't work in that first match is kind of this running theme with Samoan wrestlers who apparently have the strongest skulls and can't be affected by things like headbutts. Even Undertaker got his ass eliminated one Royal Rumble by trying to headbutt Rikishi.

I’m not sure I buy the “reckless worker” excuse for Jamal/Umaga getting fired. I think someone in the office had it out for 3-Minute Warning from the start. The team should have been so easy to book: two big, agile Samoan heavyweights who dominate the tag team division. A longer run for them would have done more for the RAW tag titles than La Resistance or Lance Storm & Val Venis did.

The WWE wasted these guys. To book them properly as monster heels I would have had them squash match random tag teams for a year. Have them win the titles in a hard fought match and have them have a run as champs for a year, mostly in modified squash matches. I would have them lose to an equally carefully booked baby face team. At that point their future would be locked and they would be a viable threat for any face team. Having them win the tag titles for shorter runs would reaffirm them as monster heels.

I loved 3 minute warning. These dudes as Bischoffs goons was gold. And that surprise reveal during that "commitment ceremony?" Wrestling story perfection.

When this was going on obviously Rosey never figured that things may be mediocre but ONE day his then 17 year old brother would be the star of the entire company.

honestly its a shame both of them passed away, always sad seeing people pass away at their ages, and if they were still around today i could honestly see them both probably being apart of the bloodline in wwe

I was like 14-15 at the time. Still every time Eric bischoff said "you've got 3 minutes" I got nervous and knew EXACTLY what that meant I loved those 2 wrestler. I knew someone was getting their ass beat at the drop of a dime.

Vince must really like Rosie & 3MW to have kept reigns around to put fans to sleep for almost a decade 16:38 none of their matches were memorable but i didn't realize they lost so much either.

yoooo before you tell me to shuv it, you know that going forward now for every season you will have to have a male and female winner to keep it consistent with season 1.... otherwise i suggest you figure out a way to stack up new jack vs rousey to decide a clear winner. or just hit rousey with new jacks headstone from his grave site lol cause lord knows the headstone is just a giant brick of sorts hahaha
