Although I ran my own Windsurfing school during the mid 1980s I always find these Windsurfing tricks and instructions enjoyable and interesting to watch as they are precise and accurate and increase my desire to set sail again soon.

Awesome! Love to hear it. Where was your school based in the 80s? Sounds like it was an amazing time for windsurfing back then.

I just learned the duck tack a couple month ago. Quite technical move - loved the progress. When it is rather light winds I find the move much easier with the feet out of the straps as you then can have your feet further forward and don't have issues with your tail sinking. In strong winds I prefer the version inside the straps as it is so much more control. Just feels better😊 Cheers for the Video!

Great explanation, and thanks for the details about hands and feet positioning! I think what is key to learn these freestyle moves is to have a few consecutive days of strong wind with flat water that allow to use the same gear. My home spot has too volatile conditions and I’m going to Greece this august to focus only on flaka, vulcan and ducking. Your videos together with the trickionary are really helpful to visualize the moves!

Absolutely brilliant video, yours are the best! I literally had a dream last night that I was doing this move over and over, and BAM I see this video in my feed today! Must be fate. My Tamado 91 arrives next week, and I WILL master this move! I can already duck jibe pretty comfortably, but I've never attempted the tack. The hand movements look pretty similar in both moves during the duck - is that correct?
@willnicholls5 Жыл бұрын
Thanks :) Yeah that's correct

Hi thanks for this great vidéo again. how to avoid that the sail comes against me pushing me off the board? (btw the fast tack works excellent thanks to your vidéo, now is time for the duck tuck😊)
@willnicholls5 Жыл бұрын
No problem :) If the sail is pushing you off the board backwards it means that you have too much power in the sail. The way to reduce that is 2 things: The first is to go faster, the more speed you have the more apparent wind you have, which reduces the power in the sail. The other thing is that the position of the sail could be too far forward. Once you have 2 hands on the new side of the boom and you're back-winded make sure your body is forward and the sail continues to move towards the tail of the board. This will de-power the sail. The way I sometimes think about it is as if I'm trying put the power of the sail behind my hip or my pocket.

Hi Will. What gear are you using?
@willnicholls5 Жыл бұрын
Hey 👋 The sail is a 4.8 Severne Freek (2021). The board is a 101 JP Freestyle board (2019). Fin is 20cm K4. Boom is a Severne Enigma 150 - 200. Mast is 400 100% RDM .
@thux7227 Жыл бұрын
@@willnicholls5 Thanks alot. I'm about to buy my first own gear (I've been Surfing for 8-9 years now) and I want to get a Severne Gator 5.0 or 5.3 to Start with some basic Freestyle moves but still be able to plain and freeride a bit. Do you think that is a good choice? The Board would be a Fanatic Freewave 115 or 105.
@willnicholls5 Жыл бұрын
@@thux7227 This would be a decent setup for freeride, learning to jump and carving "old school" freestyle moves. In terms of jumping freestyle moves it's much easier to learn using an actual freestyle board. It depends what moves you want to learn?
