Tessie I was forced to live on less due to a disability and a divorce after 29 years of marriage. He got the girl friend and I have finally found peace. I love my life now. Even though when I got so sick that he just threw me away. Yes it hurt. But at least now I make my own decisions and finally I know I'm good enough. It brings me so much peace to know my bills are paid and I have plenty for me. My kids are grown and they are my rock. Many blessings Tessie

My story is similar. My ex dumped me for a GF when I was 56. I had foolishly thought we would grow old together. I was crushed and it took me a couple of years to even hold onto my weight. I had fallen to below a hundred pounds. I finally gave up on men totally and made my family my total life. I am now 71, live in a tiny rental with my adult grandson. I am happy. I never knew how unhappy I really was until he was gone. It's all good now.

I had a tumour too, that nearly killed me. It was squashing my kidney and it began to fail, then my liver started to struggle. The hospital that I was rushed into had a problem with their operating rooms, so I had to wait to be treated. Then other things started to fail. It took away my ability to walk. I am late watching this video but I want you to know that I think you and your husband are doing a wonderful job! I am sure that the medical bills didn't help, and it was so selfish that so called family didn't at least visit you. I know about financial problems because although I worked full time, I married a man who didn't bother to tell me he had a gambling addiction. I struggled for 14 years to keep afloat so he could enjoy his addiction. I am divororced now but have lupus and I have some bad days. I am afraid to trust anyone ever again but Jesus, he never leaves me. You are blessed to have a happy marriage and I am happy for you. When the grid goes down you will be ready! God bless you!

I’ve been selling real estate for over 25 years and I still feel it’s the best way to accumulate wealth. The secret to flipping is not to get in over your head because the market always ebbs and flows. You got trapped in the crooked lending practices that falsely inflated property values that’ started snowballing into disaster in the late 90s. I’m so sorry that happened to you. It happened to many. Being a broker I could see what was causing the housing market to build up to a collapse. I occasionally flip for profit but I’m extremely careful on my research of a specific property before I jump in...and even then it is a risk. I think you’ve made a beautiful life for yourself and I think you are happy where you are in life now and that is ultimately what we all want..happiness. Blessings beautiful lady from Western NC🙏🏻💖

Ok I support this but just know that having the time to do it yourself is also a luxury and a blessing. Single parents and working parents will often need to work long hours just to make rent. It isn’t a choice to use a dryer and dishwasher for many of us, we are working 12 hours a day in an office and still need to sleep so we use these things out of necessity. The system is broken, we need to change the system so more of us can have the time necessary to make these choices to forgo shortcuts and things you call luxuries here.

Wow... Thank you Tessie. You are so right that often the rich people arent as caring and giving. Often those who have little are more giving. We had a sweet elderly widow near us who had very little money. She was also sick with a brain tumor. We would shovel her driveway or walk her dog, and help her get wood etc. She always wanted to find ways to pay us. Even though we said "no". We told her that this is what God asks His people to do. So she would always send us away with some fish or home canning or baking. It reminded me of the poor widow that Jesus used as an example. Willing to give whatever she had. I love your videos, and am inspired by you❤

@@melissalee333 So, according to you, I have "no debt." I feel like I do each month when I write those checks! Lol. My houses are paid for, and I have no outstanding bills. So, I guess you're right. I don't listen to Dave Ramsey. Idk who that is. Hope you have a great evening.
@melissalee3334 жыл бұрын
Teresa Basinger correct, if you are not making payments on cars, houses, credit cards, student loans, 401k loans, than yes you are debt free. You can then decide how you want to spend your money. Depending on where you live taxes and insurance could be really high, like California or New Jersey.. You may be able to lower expenses by getting a smaller house or moving states. Freedom is awesome. Look up Dave Ramsey on KZbin to see his plan.

@@melissalee333 I've been a widow for 15 months. I have sold one house, am emptying out the residence on our 12 acre mini farm, and hoping to rent/sell it. I also have 3 other houses to sell. They were all cash purchases, and were rentals. I no longer want to be involved with that. I live in a 3 bedroom home built in 2003. It's modest, and not too expensive to upkeep. I plan on keeping this one.Thank you for your suggestion. I will look him up. Maybe he can help me invest.

As you know Tessie, I found your channel while I was recovering from my 4th major spine surgery. I had worked for 38 years as an RN, and never worried about spending money. As my time off grew longer and I realized I would need to retire on SSDI, I began putting your frugal living lessons into my plan, and now am retired and debt free on my 1 acre homestead. I’m so thankful for this simple life and skills you have taught me. Love you sister!

I'm Dutch so I can't call it an American Nightmare, but I've paid my price too. I'm still alive, have a roof above my head, every day enough to eat or drink and I don't have to worry about money. Sure I live a simple life, but in my case it means that I have less to worry about.

I lived many years without hot water, only enough for a quick 3 min shower. I boiled water for the kids bath and dishes, the husband made sure he got what lukewarm water there was. When I got divorced one of the second from church showed up to my house with a brand new hot water heater and installed it !!! Every time I get in the shower I think of him and how grateful I am that God has faithful servants !

My husband & are I are in our 70's. We pastored small churches for many years. We always went where we knew the Lord Jesus was definitely leading us with no thought of how much we would be paid. He had already taught me to pray for food, clothing....whatever and that He would provide in answer to specific prayer, so I knew He would make up for what the congregation couldn't provide. We live in an older RV that my husband has fixed up in a park where we purchased our lot. Everything is paid for, no debts, a little savings. We live along the I-5 corridor where housing prices are catastrophic. We would have had to move where living is cheaper, but our children & grandchildren are here. I prayed mightily for an affordable solution & this is it....Just $167 per month. You are so right, Tessie, living below our means & trusting the Lord is a path of peacefulness & security. After all, this is not our final home We're just passing through & our wonderful Lord has already prepared a home for us in heaven. It's exciting to look forward to! Lord Jesus bless you & yours & all your wonderful subscribers. Old Grandma👵❤

Tessie I admire you and your husband both for having the conviction and working so hard with such determination to get out of debt. Now you know all those “things” were not important. Now you have peace and you live your life with such joy. Thank you for sharing your life. God bless you Tessie🙏😇🦋

I did the same thing but I had to do it on my own , no husband so I had to hire help, it was a better life then working a 9 to 5 job, I was so much better off. It was hard to juggle raising 4 kids and doing every thing my self, but I made it. My ex didn't want to help raise the kids

Rich in life and wealthy of money are two very different things. I ran a multi million dollar business, i didn’t see my children, caused myself to have a heart attack from stress at 34, and i can promise it brought me no happiness. I sold it for far less than it was worth, am aiming to be financially independent by 50, and live a much more frugal life now. My relationship with my other half and my kids is now stronger than it ever was before, and we are happier people. Time is the one thing we have in ever diminishing supply - be happy for as much of it as you can, because you can’t “make up happiness” in your twilight years. I am content to have learned the lesson of not chasing the next “thing” and to be content with a warm fire, full belly, roof over my head, and company of people i love.

Been there and have the t-shirt! I finally realized that joy is found in people and nature. Money is a distraction from the real point of this life. The devils way to lead us away from God. Look what that experience has given to you and us. God doesn’t make mistakes. Off topic but how to you stop your towels getting stiff and rough?
