Its so powerful to hear your story. SO many Americans are in tons of debt. Many KZbin people are busy showing their wins, never showing the challenges. Your minimalist mindset is something the rich just realized and yearn for...stuff will never give us love. God bless, I'm a brand new subscriber 🥰🥰🥰

Tessie I was forced to live on less due to a disability and a divorce after 29 years of marriage. He got the girl friend and I have finally found peace. I love my life now. Even though when I got so sick that he just threw me away. Yes it hurt. But at least now I make my own decisions and finally I know I'm good enough. It brings me so much peace to know my bills are paid and I have plenty for me. My kids are grown and they are my rock. Many blessings Tessie

My story is similar. My ex dumped me for a GF when I was 56. I had foolishly thought we would grow old together. I was crushed and it took me a couple of years to even hold onto my weight. I had fallen to below a hundred pounds. I finally gave up on men totally and made my family my total life. I am now 71, live in a tiny rental with my adult grandson. I am happy. I never knew how unhappy I really was until he was gone. It's all good now.

I had a tumour too, that nearly killed me. It was squashing my kidney and it began to fail, then my liver started to struggle. The hospital that I was rushed into had a problem with their operating rooms, so I had to wait to be treated. Then other things started to fail. It took away my ability to walk. So for the last seven years I’ve had to use a wheelchair, but I hope one day that I will be able to take a few steps again.

I am late watching this video but I want you to know that I think you and your husband are doing a wonderful job! I am sure that the medical bills didn't help, and it was so selfish that so called family didn't at least visit you. I know about financial problems because although I worked full time, I married a man who didn't bother to tell me he had a gambling addiction. I struggled for 14 years to keep afloat so he could enjoy his addiction. I am divororced now but have lupus and I have some bad days. I am afraid to trust anyone ever again but Jesus, he never leaves me. You are blessed to have a happy marriage and I am happy for you. When the grid goes down you will be ready! God bless you!

Hi Tessie...I admire your honesty. I always say that people who haven't had ups and downs have a hard time learning and maturing. We have always lived simply because we live in the city and when we worked (we're now retired), we didn't want to commute. I also can say that I'm happy with my choices. God bless you, Tessie.

I think a lot of us have struggled with debt. My husband and I still have a mortgage, but are hoping to get rid of that soon, by selling our current home and paying cash for something else. That's going to be tough, but doable. You are smart to live simply. We're considering a mobile home ourselves, because of the cost.

I’ve been selling real estate for over 25 years and I still feel it’s the best way to accumulate wealth. The secret to flipping is not to get in over your head because the market always ebbs and flows. You got trapped in the crooked lending practices that falsely inflated property values that’ started snowballing into disaster in the late 90s. I’m so sorry that happened to you. It happened to many. Being a broker I could see what was causing the housing market to build up to a collapse. I occasionally flip for profit but I’m extremely careful on my research of a specific property before I jump in...and even then it is a risk. I think you’ve made a beautiful life for yourself and I think you are happy where you are in life now and that is ultimately what we all want..happiness. Blessings beautiful lady from Western NC🙏🏻💖

I myself went through that with family and my health. I almost died and I realized who was there for me and who wasn't. I had to have a major surgery and blood transfusions and iron infusions as my health took a toll. I prayed continuously and was afraid for my husband and then 18 year old son. I then realized what the Lord had in store for me it was so much more. I am glad he put people in my life like you Tessie, that uplift me and encourage me to do what the Lord wants for me in my life. Ok I support this but just know that having the time to do it yourself is also a luxury and a blessing. Single parents and working parents will often need to work long hours just to make rent. It isn’t a choice to use a dryer and dishwasher for many of us, we are working 12 hours a day in an office and still need to sleep so we use these things out of necessity. The system is broken, we need to change the system so more of us can have the time necessary to make these choices to forgo shortcuts and things you call luxuries here.

Wow... Thank you Tessie. You are so right that often the rich people arent as caring and giving. Often those who have little are more giving. We had a sweet elderly widow near us who had very little money. She was also sick with a brain tumor. We would shovel her driveway or walk her dog, and help her get wood etc. She always wanted to find ways to pay us. Even though we said "no". We told her that this is what God asks His people to do. So she would always send us away with some fish or home canning or baking. It reminded me of the poor widow that Jesus used as an example. Willing to give whatever she had. I love your videos, and am inspired by you❤

Happiness is not in material things and people are not responsible for my me or how I feel. Tessie God allows things in our lives to happen for a purpose, circumstance build our character and brings us to the place where we are really at peace. Happiness is simple, free and can be enjoyed anywhere. Thanks for reminding me from where I came, bless you❤️

Hi, Tessie. When you called for help and no one answered, I feel it's Him pulling you toward Himself. When my husband died, and I'd reach out to loved ones who all live far away, they couldn't help, and I leaned in real close to Him. He and me, and it's still that and I don't ever want it to end. He took clutter, nonsense out of my life so I could know Him. He held you up, and I love that you are His lion hearted testimony for all to see. I also tell you true, you are favored by Him.

People sent me thank you notes, flowers, candy thanking me for helping them..... we foreclose on them a year later. I was doing a job I told myself. I hope I'm forgiven. I kited out. Paid off a little 3 acres in a small town. for my house paid cash 2005. The crash of 2008 was ruthless and coldplay for sure. I Said good bye. No transferable skills. I'm now a barber and cut wool. Plus my husband and I like hanging wash on the clothesline in our backyard and we going fishing and grow our own crops plus do repairs on the house ourselves. We live in a 1928 small house which we bought at tax value in 2006. We only have the basics like a stove fridge clotheswasher and a small microwave. We watch some TV and listen to the radio. Fantastic job !!! 7 years to pay off all of that. Probably took you 7 years to get there too. I find the look on people's face interesting when they find out that I have zero debt besides my small mortgage. Which I plan on paying off 13 years early. Not to shabby for someone who was in debt 2x thanks to lazy exes. Yes, I blame them, but its my fault I let them get me there. Never again. My American dream is to retire in 10 years. Debt free . Including no mortgage. Having many medical issues in the last year has cemented that idea. If im hurting now how will I be at 62. Let alone try and make it till 67. No way Jose. I plan on having enough money to buy a van outright , convert it and travel. Maybe sell my house. But still have a home base someplace. Even if only a single wide trailer home ! I certain ly don't need much space at a place im only staying for awhile !

I’ve often seen no matter what most people have it’s never enough. More money just seems to cause more problems. I’m very happy that you are happy Tessie. It’s a rare thing these days, it seems it’s only the blessed few who are truly happy with their lives and I’m so glad you are one of those because I really think you have been sent to show the way to those in need. The way to a fuller, more rewarding life as well as sending those who don’t know Christ on their way to learn about the only path to salvation. God bless you and yours Tessie.

Hi Tessie! ☺ Ice Cream @ 8:00 pm??? 😱😱, And now your in BED @ 8:00 pm. 😂😂 Tessie, that is WONDERFUL that you had those years in a beautiful, 2,600 sq. ft. home. And, don't think that you did much of really nothing & maybe watch too much television. You raised three children & were a wonderful wife, (I'm sure), to your husband. There really isn't much that needs to take much time, on a daily basis; in a brand new home with all the modern amenities. I'm happy you had that life & I'm happy you love the life that you are living now. I hope you don't have regrets of living that previous lifestyle 😢😢!!! Tessie, YOU have lived The Best of BOTH Worlds!! 😽😽 Happy First Day of Fall tomorrow, beginning @ 9:31 am. Enjoy whatever it is that you will be doing!! 💖💖 ☺☺😎😎. Goodnite, 😴😴😴😉

Tessie - Do you realize how many people in the same situation would have filed bankruptcy without batting an eyelash? You did something of which you should really be proud. You took responsibility for your situation and gradually dug yourself out of it. And I don't think there's a thing wrong with your home. I find the whole setting relaxing - Diane.

I have such a similar story, yet breast cancer was my downfall. I lost everything and most of my family abandoned me during this time. Mine was 7 years ago, and now looking back I realize that God had to allow me to lose pretty much everything to teach me how to rely solely on HIM. I feel like now I have everything! I am a different person now, off all meds and happy every day. Nothing on this planet is more precious than the Lord Jesus to me. I am sending you a virtual HUG, Tessie!! WE are survivors! We are strong....I totally get you.

Thank you for your story. I’m on my own journey of downsizing everything and getting rid of debt. We just sold a house we bought two years ago that was too big and too expensive. We sold a car and tomorrow I get to go pick up our new to us paid for car. I’m so excited to pay cash for a car. We have one other vehicle that we are diligently paying off. By this time next year we should be completely debt free. You are correct. The so called American dream is a nightmare.

I'm not trying to be rude or ugly. But how can anybody truly be debt free? I have home insurance, car insurance, life insurance, taxes, phone, water, and lights. I can go off grid, and even sell my car, but taxes and insurance is still a debt.

@@teresabasinger5965 Good point. Those things are still bills, but they are not debt. Please check out Dave Ramsey, he is the best financial teacher. @@melissalee333 So, according to you, I have "no debt." I feel like I do each month when I write those checks! Lol. My houses are paid for, and I have no outstanding bills. So, I guess you're right. I don't listen to Dave Ramsey. Idk who that is. Hope you have a great evening.

Teresa Basinger correct, if you are not making payments on cars, houses, credit cards, student loans, 401k loans, than yes you are debt free. You can then decide how you want to spend your money. Depending on where you live taxes and insurance could be really high, like California or New Jersey.. You may be able to lower expenses by getting a smaller house or moving states. Freedom is awesome. Look up Dave Ramsey on KZbin to see his plan.

@@melissalee333 I've been a widow for 15 months. I have sold one house, am emptying out the residence on our 12 acre mini farm, and hoping to rent/sell it. I also have 3 other houses to sell. They were all cash purchases, and were rentals. I no longer want to be involved with that. I live in a 3 bedroom home built in 2003. It's modest, and not too expensive to upkeep. I plan on keeping this one.Thank you for your suggestion. I will look him up. Maybe he can help me invest.

As you know Tessie, I found your channel while I was recovering from my 4th major spine surgery. I had worked for 38 years as an RN, and never worried about spending money. As my time off grew longer and I realized I would need to retire on SSDI, I began putting your frugal living lessons into my plan, and now am retired and debt free on my 1 acre homestead. I’m so thankful for this simple life and skills you have taught me. Love you sister!

Every time I get in the shower I think of him and how grateful I am that God has faithful servants !

My husband & are I are in our 70's. We pastored small churches for many years. We always went where we knew the Lord Jesus was definitely leading us with no thought of how much we would be paid. He had already taught me to pray for food, clothing....whatever and that He would provide in answer to specific prayer, so I knew He would make up for what the congregation couldn't provide. We live in an older RV that my husband has fixed up in a park where we purchased our lot. Everything is paid for, no debts, a little savings. We live along the I-5 corridor where housing prices are catastrophic. We would have had to move where living is cheaper, but our children & grandchildren are here. I prayed mightily for an affordable solution & this is it....Just $167 per month. You are so right, Tessie, living below our means & trusting the Lord is a path of peacefulness & security. After all, this is not our final home We're just passing through & our wonderful Lord has already prepared a home for us in heaven. It's exciting to look forward to! Lord Jesus bless you & yours & all your wonderful subscribers. Old Grandma👵❤

Rich in life and wealthy of money are two very different things. I ran a multi million dollar business, i didn’t see my children, caused myself to have a heart attack from stress at 34, and i can promise it brought me no happiness. I sold it for far less than it was worth, am aiming to be financially independent by 50, and live a much more frugal life now. My relationship with my other half and my kids is now stronger than it ever was before, and we are happier people. Time is the one thing we have in ever diminishing supply - be happy for as much of it as you can, because you can’t “make up happiness” in your twilight years. I am content to have learned the lesson of not chasing the next “thing” and to be content with a warm fire, full belly, roof over my head, and company of people i love.
