hey glen, love your content. I have a couple questions if you don't mind me asking. did you replace the fluid in the struts? if you've gotten the chance to drive it around, how are the lowering springs? since you mentioned that they seem to be softer, have you noticed better/worse handling or comfort?

So I installed new cartridges so there is no fluid needed - they are sealed units. Regards the springs, I can report a decent ride and great and handling. It’s a little stiff but I thinks that’s the nature of an 80’s sports car! It’s difficult for me to compare to the original set up since the original shocks were blown. The springs seemed to lower the car about an inch.

Hey Glen. I'm going over the front suspension a 85 Turbo that I bought. It already has the converted kyb shocks and red lowering springs. But the springs aren't under any tension and I can move them a bit by hand with the car off the ground. Trying to figure out what could cause this 🤔. I appreciate any input. Thanks!

Well, having not seen them, I would guess they are quite a short spring. Perhaps the previous owner cut them to get his desired ride height. It’s not ideal since there is the risk with spirited driving the strut could reach near full extension (over a crest in the road for example) and the spring could possibly shift out of position when the strut compresses again. Again, I haven’t seen the set up. If you don’t plan on changing the springs it might be worth securing the spring to the lower spring cup with wire or something to at least keep it in position. Many years ago when I built and campaigned a rally car that’s whet we did (of course those cars were often airborne). Cheers

I bought a car that had one adjustable and one non-adjustable strut on it. Went to replace my shocks and realized one went together (the non-adjustable side) and one didn't. I just bought a used non-adjustable strut and rebuilt that one. Now I've got two non-adjustable struts that are rebuilt.

I’m always amazed when people will replace one shock or such rather than doing both sides. At least you have it sorted now 👍

@@boatinglife1 definitely funky! Seems like the previous owner took it to a shop that didn't even know that the struts were rebuildable...
