Loved that! Thank you. I have lived in the rue des Gravilliers for over 10 years and I was excited about discovering my neighbourhood through your eyes. Big hugs, Anouche.

Very interesting, Arielle! Thank you!! 🌸 Also, on a side note-I just watched last year's Thrifting Shop video, and I wondered, if you would consider doing an updated version? I'm a Junk Gypsy (😘) too, and I think the boutiques you shared were amazing! 👍

You are the best and your cohort is also smart and cute! Thank you for all your interesting historical fact finding. Please cover the 4th arrondissement as my stay last year in April was in the 4th at Hotel LeJardin, Marais. I have on request for you that when you pronounce these restaurants, areas etc that you also show in a title how it is spelled. Your French is so wonderful but cannot make out who or what you are speaking😊

I really enjoyed your video. Your passion for the city and its history come through. Six trips to Paris and most of this video is new to me. What equipment are you using for filming?

I was just looking for these history based tours of cities and you certainly delivered. Very Informative. One request, can you provide the research material that you used to prepare the video for the benefit of history buffs? That will be extremely helpful. Anyways great work and keep doing these types of videos as there is a paucity.

It’s tough because all my knowledge comes from taking tours, reading books, watching documentaries, listening to the news, reading signs in the museums etc etc… so I couldn’t ever list everything unfortunately 😆but I really enjoy the books from « atlas de Paris » they are SUPER helpful in understanding Paris’ history

Next do the 4th just to stay in the same time period. Looking forward to the 6th … specifically the Latin Quarter which does actually extend into the 6th. And a bit about King Francois Premier who apparently had a mistress who lived there.

I love history so, of course I love your 'history lessons'. I would love to see the history lesson continue to include more history bridging & including more recent history. The Marais has been the home of the Jewish Quarter. This was not mentioned & the Anne Frank Garden, the Jewish Museum & the memorial to Elie Weisel almost seem to be unattached to their particular location. As to the Knights Templar I would like to have heard about how much of their wealth came from their 'colonization' of areas in the Middle East. The history of how they acquired their wealth & how they used the cover of religiosity to steal wealth & treasure from the historical inhabitants, the Moors, to fill their own coffers. I suppose I am fascinated by history & by how the history of one group or one locale is connected to other groups in other places.

From my research the Jewish quarters is located in the Marais, but the lower Marais - not the upper. Which would be the 4th arrondissement and not the 3rd - you may be familiar with rue des rosiers ? Or la memorial des martyrs de la deportation ? These are both located in the 4th and in the Jewish quarters. This is why I did not include it in my video, it is more appropriate to talk about the Jewish quarters and it’s history in the video I will make on the 4th in my opinion. As for the knights Templar, I wanted to keep it simple because they were only 1 of MANY orders to occupy the 3rd as I explained. And they also only occupied this area for 200 years - after their demise, the hospitallers took over their lands and actually occupied them for a longer period of time. So it is curious that you didn’t also ask me to cover the extensive history of the hospitallers…. Unfortunately, to go over the detailed history of each religious establishment in a video about the 3rd arrondissement would not make sense in my opinion - they would all need their own videos entirely.

Hi Arielle, Thanks for these tours. I enjoy them! I wonder if you'd consider a slightly different approach. Rather than doing all the history at the beginning, would you instead do a quick overview to begin, then throughout the tour do a combination of voice-overs and cut-outs that sprinkle the history "in situ" as you are showing each location. I'm thinking that way when something (e.g., weather or crowds) upend your plans, you could instead pop in a voice-over with the history. Thanks for sharing these! Wish I was there! 😁

Yes I love the idea ! My hesitation is that some places require constant reference back to the same historical moment (like the fortifications or a law or a kings decision etc etc) so I feel like it’s more comprehensible when I flush it all out at the start as opposed to repeating certain facts or events over and over again for every monument…. But I’ll have to see if I can make something like that work ☺️

really enjoyed the history portion, but not enough walking (despite the rain). Perhaps you could have gone back another day?

Love, love, love that you go into the history, and this video delivers! Your passion and respect for the subject is infectous. Idea: this will require investment capital and expense for labor - create a phone app for your itineraries/maps/guides. This will reach a wider (read more people = more revenue) patronage. Just a thought. You are doing such good work and deserve to monetarily level up so to speak and people would subscribe and benefit from such an app. From an American capitalist entreprenuer business owner, just my Sunday morning thoughts.

Thank you for the idea ! I love it ! My only hesitation is that doing everything alone is so challenging and time consuming 😂 but I love the idea of an app, I’ll have to look into it

@@Ariellelaparisienne I know, you can't do everything yourself which is why I said it will be a bit of upfront capital, new products will often times require some delegation to others, hired labor more facile and expert. There is only so much time in anyone's day. It is something that once created can so easily be updated and instantly accessed. Everyone uses their phone for everything now. Consider who would partner or be an investor that would leave you 100% in artistic control. Think about it, I will bet that you have supporters around you that would love to help you with this.
