This was literally the clearest & most helpful explanation of sins I have heard. I loved the one about gluttony & how to ask God to direct your thoughts & ways about food. It’s one of my weaknesses- I battle all the time about food. It’s a source of comfort to me and I’m always cooking too so my mind goes to food. Iam overweight and depressed, ashamed about that so the fruits are not positive. A vicious cycle. I feel I need to get alone with the Lord and face this. I cannot do this on my own. I would add there’s also the sin of spiritual pride, which one is tempted to if/when one has conquered the lower levels of the sins of the body and mind. Thinking we’ve made it and we’re better than others. Be careful of that thinking. 😮 Thank you so much for this eye-opening talk!

I just finished my prayer time and told the lord I wanted to watch something that might be helpful as I have a headache and can’t read well. I found your video. Now I haven’t watched It yet but…I asked the lord and Our mother Mary what my predominant fault is. I noticed in the past year while being watchful and that small voice in my conscience speaking something to me about not standing a nibbling on my food. I heard.. sit down, say grace and eat what you put on the plate that is modest and do Not eat unless you sit and thank God first. I’m struggling with this as I find myself cooking and grabbing and eating without realizing, then I hear in my thoughts and inspiration. No.. sit down. Say Grace wait for your Husband and have dinner. Now I’m gonna watch your video. I also asked the Lord what he wanted me to work on for resolutions and my virtue OK here goes. Thankyou

Thank you!! this is such an incredible discussion of sin and so helpful and I needed it so much because I definitely have the sin of gluttony even though I am thin and appear very healthy and have no health issues like high cholesterol, blood pressure, vitamin deficiencies etc, nothing. But I often eat only my favorites foods and often only junk food and skip meals to eat more chocolate and cookies etc especially when I’m struggling in prayer. It is a huge crutch for me! The world bombards us with diet being about loosing weight or just being healthy, and we totally forget it’s something much greater!

Your sadness corresponds to God's sadness when 1_3 of the angels were lost. Jessus/God wants us to know there is nothing they have not experienced, that they can truly relate to our sadness. Also, your sadness is as profound as God loosing 1/3 of His angels. That is profound. You are being so blessed. Next time, stay with the feeling and really FEEL as God felt. ❤ I am 🙏 praying. Great and logically explained. Everything makes sense. Before I became Catholic, I was not clear like this. It is strange to me that I have received graces that concern higher sins. Even though it is an endless process, humility is a given - because I simply get to know God and myself. Envy logically also disappears, because I am grateful for all the undeserved graces. Sometimes I struggle with anger in my heart, but I no longer act angrily. But carnal sins - although they are so primitive - I have not yet won everything here. Laziness and wasting time and indulging in vices such as frequent drinking of alcohol and addiction to nicotine (I repeatedly quit and fall back into addiction to electronic cigarettes). It is strange that these carnal sins are the hardest for me.

This is a very interesting perspective through which to view sin and purgatory. It sounds like the body sins are the worst while pride just gets you a slap on the wrist. And I would guess that terrible crimes like murder, rape,torture and robbery are extreme manifestations of mind or bodily sins. With Lent coming up, I’ll put that prayer tip before eating junk food into action.

If humility is the grestes virtue, pride is the biggest sin enough that our Lord through you know who out of heaven because of it. I think that pride can get you to hell or deep purgatory easily and opens up to all capital sins.

Absolutely agree! I'm listening to this talk second time as I thought I did miss some information etc.. yes, pride is the biggest sin and from pride all other sins take root. There is a book called humility of heart, and it said in there "in paradise there are many Saints who never gave alms on earth:their poverty justified them etc. But in paradise there is no Saint who is not humble." Meaning unless one will become humble there is no heaven..

The pharisees were prideful and Jesus said the prostitutes and drunkards were getting into the kingdom before them. It's seems as Pope Francis says the angleic sins are worse. Also scripture says the devil was prideful and envious.

Well, pride is always underneath all of the sins - but it’s not a “lower” sin in the same sense that the carnal sins are lower sins

Great explanation, but it doesn't make sense to me why a proud person should only be in the antechamber of purgatory, while a great, kind, generous, compassionate, pious... person should be in the worst purgatory if he is fat (he has the sin of gluttony). Pride is a cardinal sin, after all.

Don't forget about Usury and making money by charging interest. The Bible says usury and charging interest at any rate is a mortal sin. The Early Church condemned the practice and the Roman Catholic Church papal encyclicals condemn charging and making money on interest as "economic sodomy" Bleeding money with money to make money.

Thanks for a great video, Alvaro...let me ask you this...lust is an obvious sin,you either look at a woman in a lustful way,go to adult websites, etc. However, gluttony to me is pretty murky...I normally eat roughly 2000 calories a day, enjoy desserts. Does that make me a glutton? Also,what I have a hard time comprehending,if I go to purgatory for any one of these sins... How long will I be there? The only way to my knowledge to go straight to Heaven....is thru a plenary indulgence.

to receive the Plenary Indulgence we have to be free from all attachment to sin… it’s hard but doable. Say the Rosary daily - at least 5 decades. More is better. Our Blessed Mother wants to help us. Also the Novena to Our Lady Undoer of Knots is a powerful novena to help us conquer all sinful attachments and show us where we need help. Ave Maria ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

You will make it give yourself time to learn and if you have faith and ask your Guardian Angel and Our Holy Mother Mary to pray for you ( for that matter all the Saints, if you ask they will pray for as well as the souls in purgatory) and guide you, you will make it to Heaven.
