At 1:39, FF13 isn't really as controversial as some "fans" make it out to be. The truth of the matter is that FF13 reviewed well back then and still reviews well now. At the time of it's release, the original final fantasy 13 was one of the most unique and different games in the series. It still is, as there's nothing quite like it even when compared to the later games in the trilogy. Because of that, many use this as justification to nitpick and even lie about the game if any of it's features or parts of the story rub them the wrong way. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say that Snow "killed" Hope's mom, Vanilla is secretly evil, or that the data logs are "required" to understand the story. Statements that don't hold water, whether you're playing the game or just watching the cutscenes online. Certain parts of the FF community hate the fact the game is one of the highest selling in the series, that at one point lighting was voted as Japan's favorite FF female character, and that it spawned at trilogy that made over a billion dollars. I'm not against people who dislike the game, I'm against the many who are cynical at those who enjoy it. They said the game would ruin the franchise and start a trend of every game being like it. That never happened and every mainline game is still it's own experience like those that came before. Remember when people said that FF7 ruined the franchise.
