And during all that time they admitted that even if they got new weapons, they got nobody to use them and keep on casting the net ever wider, drafting even women. The new Kharkiv front looks to eat up Ukrainian reserves while losing the fortified city of Krasnohorivka actually seems more significant strategically. Which was worse, the decision to launch an armored spearhead against a set of heavy defensive lines without air support or the waste of elite Marine brigades and supporting artillery at Krynky? Seems like the west have WW 1 caliber generals with political leadership considerably worse.

All I know is that Ukraine has officially 600,000 sq. km, what, when removing the parts controlled by Russia, is maybe 500,000 sq. km, what means that, even if it was the case, it'd take Russia 12,500 days to fully occupy the country at that rate, what is 34 years (rounded). Let's say the Russians capture Kharkiv and start surrounding Dnipro, or approaching Kiev or Odessa. At that point, Ukraine would still be the size of Germany. I'm quite certain the Russians don't want to have Lviv or Volyn but if Ukraine won't negotiate by then, it risks becoming the size of Belarus, or even Lithuania.

The Kherson front exists because of Ukrainian terrorist attacks on Belgorod, forcing the Russians to create a buffer zone. Smart move, Ukrainians! Yesterday they had 1,500 casualties in a single day on this front, with lots of hardware destroyed. A Russian offensive near Kherson has been signaled for months, and the Ukrainians had scant preparations. No dragon's teeth or mine fields. The Ukrainian commander in the region has been severely criticized. The Ukrainians have few reserves to move in, after the successful Russian war of attrition.

There is a huge difference between the Russians and the Ukrainians, the Russians never say how many, which, and where, troops are moving. while the Ukrainians always say their moves in advance, giving the Russians the directives to commit to. Provided that the Ukrainian information is not megalomaniac, and greatly increases the real forces involved, given that they generally flee, taking inhabitants with them, so as not to appear as deserters.
