All orbits are ellipses, so there are times were the object in orbit, in this case the moon, is closer to the earth, and times where it is farther away. When an eclipse happens when the moon is on the closer side of its orbit the eclipse is longer. When the moon is at maximum distance it doesn't cover the entire sun and you get a ring of fire eclipse without totality. I hope that helps!

Guude!! 💥 Get more light, use less stone! Place the safety bar across the middle of the lava wall instead of the top and bottom!😅

I got incredibly lucky during the eclipse, it was supposed to rain and be shitty all day but miraculously it turned sunny and beautiful so I saw a perfect totality

I was really lucky as well no clouds that day. Seeing everything just gradually going dark and the ring. Wow!

The clouds parted just long enough to see before, during, and after totality. About a 10 minute span. Very interesting experience.

Nothing lives in lava... Youre thinking of the creatures at the bottom of the sea that have evolved to use the heat emitted by sulfur vents to live

There are times during the year where the sun is farther from the Earth because our orbit is an ellipse not a perfect circle. The moon's orbit is also not a perfect circle. Not only that, the orbit of the moon isn't parallel to the equator it's tilted. All of these things make an eclipse very rare and different lengths of time. God is amazing.

Waterbears = Tardigrades Also, the Goldilocks Zone has to do with more than you realize. Outside that zone, wild temperature swings make it very unlikely for life. You can have life that is very resistant to hot temps, but cold temps are VERY difficult on lifeforms. There are places in Antarctica that humans are the ONLY lifeform. Other planets have temps FAR below that.
