I'm 49. I've been practicing since I was 45 on and off. I went to a couple of jams this weekend (wife and kid are out of town). I keep learning new things. What Beau says is true; learning new things keeps it a passion for me. It's great to see others like me out there-- Beau has definitely raised the bar, though! Great video.

People usually stop doing this kind of activities because they start working and they're afraid to injure themselves, but physically it's easy to go on until your 50's and even beyond that. I'm 31 and I hope that parkour will be my lifestyle for the rest of my life. It just make me feel well :)
@MudlifecrisisOCR9 жыл бұрын
+Fed Alon So true. But honestly, I try to keep up with this sort of exercise/activity so that I DON'T get injured. The movement skill and awareness I get from doing stuff like this regularly helps me to have great skill at avoiding injury. People just have the wrong attitude. I'm 47 as well. I may not be as good at Parkour (yet), but I am still active in obstacle course races and climbing anything I can. It's all a matter of mindset.
@waaagh32035 жыл бұрын
It's like many things. No matter what age you are, listen to your body, and minimize risks by being properly ready to take on that risk. I'm not saying don't go for crazy goals and crazy things, just that you should prepare yourself fully BEFORE going for them :P But moving well is better than not moving well at any age imo.

It's certainly not easy to practise an intense sport like parkour until your 50s unless you do a lot of working out, mobility exercises, flexibility exercises, and have a brilliant diet.

I enjoy seeing someone around my age staying active and training. I train and attempt parkour 4 times a week and am a professional martial arts instructor. I agree many people our age just shut down and kill the inner child of exploring and enjoying life. Life is all about movement and enjoying the present moment.

Tim and Flow, thanks so much for making and posting this. I'm 40 in about six weeks, started freerunning a bit last summer, and more seriously this year - it's really great to see someone who started at a similar age and see how well he's doing after several years of training! Beau says that he's in good shape "luckily, through genetics or whatever" - did he do any other sports or exercise before he took up freerunning? One other question, can we find Beau on KZbin/Twitter/etc? :)

Great video. Beau is very inspiring. Age doesn't exist unless you want it to; It's about mind over matter. Look at Beau, a classic example. I've been Parkour training barely six months now & as Beau says in the video, it does something positive to you, it connects you to your soul as well as your body. Very spiritual. I'll be 48 the end of October & looking forward to making a deeper connection with myself & others through Free Running/Parkour training. Thanks for making and posting the vid!

You never hear a lot of that from a guy doing a young man's sport such as parkour who usually are practiced by enthusiasts in their early 20s.
