Today we cover IMO the 4th Best Star Wars film- 1985's classic underrated adventure Ewoks: The Battle for Endor! Jam packed with what I think is OG Lucas Star Wars magic! Disney should re-examine this one and study how you make a Star Wars film that's NOT the original trilogy feel like an entry right out of the legendary era. If you hate the Ewoks then this will likely make your blood boil, HOWEVER if you love both Star Wars AND the Ewoks then I think it's VERY clear, The Battle for Endor is indeed the 4th BEST film of the ENTIRE franchise & that include the Disney fan fiction films that began with The Force Awakens!

People and their opposition to the ewoks is nonsense. Ewoks do actually feel like believable aliens that could actually exist in the universe somewhere. I love the ewoks. Very very true to the Star Wars style. Great video, I agreed with everything that you said.

I don't recommend Disney ever make a streaming show of the Ewoks, but it would be cool to see them make a 3rd Ewok movie that brought back the young girl as an adult or teenager.

I literally think the same thing. I am a huge Star Wars fan- like for real, and I have been saying the same thing that you are saying. Battle for Endor is indeed the fourth best Star Wars movie. It actually feels like part of the Star Wars universe, not like newer so called Star Wars movies. Good man. Well said. Now, I'll get back to your video, and see what you say.

It makes me wish there was more live action spin-off stuff from the 1980s, plus the fact it was written by George during that era does to me feel more legit and special.

@@Universal-Dork Star Wars is apparently only Star Wars if it is made by the team that made the original trilogy. The time for them to make Star Wars stuff was back then. Once they retired from Star Wars, Star Wars was done. Yes, it would have been nice if they had made some more stuff back then. Fortunately they gave us the two Ewok movies- which did in fact feel like genuine additions to Star Wars. Too bad most people are so allergic to the perceived cuteness of the Ewoks that they can't recognize the true Star Wars spirit found in them.

I find it a bit shocking they never did a "special edition" of these TV movies. It wouldn't take much to fix them up.

Yeah, I enjoyed both Ewok movies as well. As a kid I wished they'd feature more space ships, but they are still an interesting fantasy take on Star Wars.

I agree, but at least there was some thread of Star Wars in these with the stranded ship and the family etc. They do though feel very classic Lucas era and I love to consider them canon..

I'm probably one of the few who would agree with you these movies were awesome and I own every version that has been released. And yes from what I know those were filmed in the same area as return of the Jedi which growing up I was fortunate I actually lived about an hour away from those shooting locations

Phew, I thought I was the only one!! Both films have been a favorite of mine since I was a kid and saw them on tv-they've aged quite nicely and haven't gotten the appreciation for at least being "Lucas" Star Wars in the 1980s before there was any real debate about whether Star Wars was awesome-the feel of them really fits perfectly with the original movies especially with the FX. Thanks for confirm the location too!

The Ewoks movies never attempted to pretend they were Canon Star Wars stories! They were completely separate and all the better for it, because you didn't have to try to fit them in with the events of Star Wars. It's actually impossible to do so btw, because no mention whatsoever is made of the events of Return of the Jedi in either movie - Wicket is still a young Ewok so these stories would have to take place sometime close to RotJ if they were Canon. - I think Lucas himself was put off tying other stuff into "Canon" by The Christmas Special and Splinter of the Mind's Eye. Because the Han Solo and Lando Calrissian trilogies of tie-in novels by Brian Daley and L. Neil Smith in the late 70s and early 80s were also never considered "Canon" even by Legends before A.C. Crispin managed to fold those in to the Legends continuity in 98. - Legends was specifically accepted as being "Canon" by Lucas so long as they kept to his rules {Luke couldn't have a long-term relationship, they had to steer clear of events of the Clone Wars etc.} right up until Lucas threw it all out the window when making AotC and ruining Boba Fett. But the earlier stuff like Lucas's own Ewok movies, Alan Dean Foster's Splinter of the Mind's Eye, Brian Daley's Han Solo Adventures and L. Neil Smith's Adventures of Lando Calrissian were always specifically NOT Canon and no-one minded because they weren't considered Canon and therefore couldn't violate the original trilogy!

I have definitely heard the Ewoks movies weren't cannon, BUT in this case for me as they were written primarily by George and to me feel in tone in many ways to the RoTJ at least, I do imagine these happening after the events of the OT. It's nice to see the Ewoks front and center in a dark kids film written by the creator near the time of the the OT, I feel watching these now they really have aged quite well, Legends stuff like the Timothy Zahn Heir to the Empire etc felt closest to a real sequel trilogy if they'd have made it of course, I'd probably had preferred George and Zahn going over the story and Lucas adding in his 2 cents so it'd have been at least a co-write. The sequel trilogy story by George was a must IMO, after they made that and moved on with the newer characters it'd have been fine to get new writers etc. thanks for all your input btw

@@Universal-Dork I love the Ewok movies but they just do not work as a follow on to RotJ and were never meant to. Lucas was making what amounts to cash-in content for kids to enjoy on TV {they were TV movies} and he had no intention of tying them in to the actual canon storyline. This was likely a good thing given the common refrain that Endor would have been absolutely decimated by the wreckage of the second Death Star and all the other sundry destroyed ships falling upon the moon in the days and weeks after the events of RotJ. - My personal Canon is that Caravan of Courage and Battle For Endor happened decades or even centuries BEFORE RotJ and the Wicket in those movies is a distant ancestor of Wicket in RotJ :) - As for Lucas and Zahn working together - Frankly Zahn's work was so good already that I'd have preferred Lucas not start adding stuff....because then you get idiocy like Jango Fett and Jar Jar Binks! Zahn's very slight references to The Clone Wars {which was all he was able to do given Lucas's instructions} are infinitely preferable to the crappy Clone Wars Lucas gave us! Frankly I enjoyed Phantom Menace when it came out, because I wasn't overhyped for it like so many were. But I really LOATHE AotC and RotS for the way Lucas RUINED the story with his constant fanbaiting after the overhyped fans went nuts at Phantom Menace! - As for George's so-called sequel trilogy - I've heard so many different versions of what that was supposed to be, and it seems to me that like with A New Hope itself Lucas was mainly just spit-balling and didn't actually have a true sequel trilogy ready to go. And Zahn's is right there - It's perfect and the only real change I'd be okay with is Luke and Mara actually getting together at the end rather than having to wait another 10 years in universe {5 years irl} until Zahn can write Vision of the Future/Spectre of the Past after Lucas has de-canonized the entire Legends continuity and the rules no longer apply!
