How can the Scott foil save a minute 18 with a 16 watt improvement over its predecessor when the new madone only saves a minute with a 19 watt improvement? Because there's no way the old madone was slower than the last generation foil

In my understanding, the Scott saves (like you said) those numbers COMPARED to the predecessor. This means that the overall values still could be worse than the ones of the Madone. And why is it impossible that the Madone is worse than the Foil? Two different companies.

The hard verifiable facts are bike weight. Please do treat that section separately. The rest is marketing blurb which we really can’t verify. Be great if the weights were compared for similar sized bikes. A (unknown size) Factor at UCI limit 6.8kg is worlds away from a 54cm Cervelo weighing 8kg! And if slim tubes are more aero and if the Cervelo split cockpit is an advantage because air can flow through, how does a noticeably wider head tube of the Scott provide aero advantage by splitting the air? This from the same bike where a slimmed handlebar is reducing drag? Unless there is some clever electronics in the handlebar it’s impossible to say it stiffens up when you are in the drops but becomes more compliant when on the hoods! The drops are beyond the hoods on the same bars. Compliance or stiffness is relative to the connection point at the crown of the fork. No way to have changing compliance with stiffness at drops and compliance at hoods! The problem with reciting all the marketing blurb back to back is that you see the inconsistencies vividly. They are all great bikes. But the best aero bike is the one that is efficient, fast and can also climb (weight) and it seems that the best here is the new Factor. And I ride the Aeroad CFR which I love.
