Last year I got 94 ovr sf shot creating slasher and that build was sick man this year most of the mixed archetypes are trash and there is no point to make a slasher primary because u r gonna miss stupid layups for nothing they fd up layups with a patch in 2k17 since then layups are useless...The most basic thing in basketball is useless, thx 2k

Couple of points. 1. The longer the game has been out, the more the skills gap narrows. More people with more experience means there is usually less of a gap in player skill. 2. Any game where you have stats and skills (or badges in this case) is based on numbers. There's calculations for how you dribble, dribbler vs defender, whether or not your shot falls, etc. The very nature of this game type is such that it becomes build based because a build provides the base numbers for all these calculations. At first, when some players are either much more experienced or just naturally talented, the game is more skill based due to the gap. As time progressesand players gain experience, that gap narrows and the game reverts towards being more numbers based. So yes, 2k is build based. However, this isnt going to change without fundamentally altering the game concept. As long as you have different builds with different stats, the game will be based on numbers and some people will always crunch the numbers to gain the maximum statistical probabilities.

There is no skill gap in this game, but there is a skill gap between builds. Some stretches are vad and have no IQ which lets you bait them into bad shots, but then you still have the broke shot contest where it register as open if your under 6"7. I have a pure point forward which takes some skill and it is frustrating to get on a team with a slashing build, but it is fun to play against because the build is so bad. I have been an inside player since 2k19, and haven't changed that until now which means one build is clearly more overpowered than the others.

I think everyone is tripping about these OP builds. If you play good defense and stop reaching every 2 seconds, you can clamp up your opponent. The trick is to have a whole squad that will follow that mantra... Now sure, a pure shooter is still gonna drop buckets, but you can still make them miss a lot. And as for clamping up a slasher... GL with that if the slasher knows wtf they are doing.

I honestly had high hopes for 2k19 but since this game strictly build based matchmaking the game just not fun. Why even have all these builds when specific builds dominate the park, when it should be any build could be nice with the right player. I feel like it’s a way to get more money in their pockets and to remove originality and creativity with ya myplayer so that you have to spend money for the right build. Honestly bring this shit back to balance, inside outside because 2k16 was the last time I felt like my myplayer was my myplayer.

Yeah looking back at 2k16, I just now realize that they called me a lockdown defender on my 99 6’5” balanced SG. I really loved that I could get shit like Limitless Range, pickpocket, etc. and choose to level up rebounding over lay-ups. That game always matched me up against centers and I would out rebound them. My 3 was mediocre, but I had a nasty 1v1 build with a boosted shot. On 2k18 I tried to remake it as a Slashing Shot Creator, but it wasn’t the same..although that build did go off once you got hot in Pro-AM walk on. I decided to never make a balanced build, so this year I fucked up and have a 94 pure playmaker instead of a sharpshooting playmaker. It’s cool that with minimum wingspan I’ll max out my 3’s at 85 with boost. But since I didn’t make a stretch I get a 56 contest and it’s easy af to lightly contest me and fuck up my shot. I have to run with stretches just to play the game it feels like sometimes

@@michaelmagee13 Bro, vertical has played a factor every year. For the last several years the best rebounders in 2k have been athletics and slashers. Glass not even close. They boosted glass a bit this year and HEAVILY nurfed the athletics. But a rebounding athletic still better than a glass. Like I said they are both 7'3" so its an equal comparison. I know a 6'11" has more verticle and therefor can grab more boards sometimes but 6'11" gives up too much on defense. I also have a 6'11" two way athletic this year. Both my 7'3" pure glass and my 7' 3" Rebounding athletic are FAR better on defense than the 2 way in the paint. Of course smaller is better on perimeter but there arent that many stretch 5s this year.

I'm not making anything up here but think what you want. This is common knowledge to top players. The past few years athletics (especially pure athletics) 6'11" out rebound glass of any height. Consistently. Even right now, I just made my 8th player for 2k19 yesterday. I A 6'11 " rebounding athletic. Straight to rec center with no badges as an 84 overall and played all morning vs some 7'3" centers between 89 and 94 overalls with strong records and have not been out rebounded yet. Doubled some of their rebounds in fact. Wait till I get badges.

stretch 4's literally shoot over smothering triple contests. it's SO hard to guard that cheese, even jumping doesn't add anything a lot of the times, because all they have to do to shake the contest-bar is wiggle left & right until it bugs out. in the meantime, smart and open layups and catch & shoot 2s remain harder to time than 3s. so yeah, if you match up vs a meta-team, you're essentially looking at 1 team being able to take and make a very high % of bad, contested shots vs a team that may struggle with their shooting %s while having to work very hard for their open looks. skillgap is there, but it's badly balanced considering how the game is geared towards the 3-ball so much and practically allowing consistent pts off of TERRIBLE, well defended shot shot attempts from way beyond the 3pt line.
