Nice video! I've also had great success with IW + AF when playing high tempo and pass into space. The IW will cut inside and play direct passes in behind the defence and give the AF a 1v1 with the goalkeeper. I've scored a ridiculous amount of goals this way 😊

for defend i use 3421 and i succeded break mourinho record low conceaded goal (15) for 9 goal in 38 match by using 2 bpd cover + 1 bpd stopper. stopper should be the middle in 3 defend edit : i play in napoli with btb(supp) & bwm (def) in midfield and both cwb attack on both flank. the bread and butter for this 3421 i find was to use DLF(att) instead AF. consistent above 60% possession and i finished unbeaten for rest of season with 102 points

Mentality: Balanced In possession: -- Width = Slightly wide -- Passing = Short (you can set certain individuals like wingers or playmakers to have more risky longer passes) -- Work ball in box -- Be more disciplined -- No build-up zone focuses, modify this based on your opponents weakness. If they're weak in the midfield, focus play on midfield In transition: -- Counter-press -- Counter -- Trigger press on high (turn on prevent short GK distribution) -- GK distributes to backline Out of possession: -- High attacking line, lower defensive line (don't go too low, max I recommend is the second lowest line) -- No tackle commands, leave this to individual commands -- Trap inside -- (Optional) Invite Crosses I highly recommend using two DMs (on DLP or BWM) role with this tactic.

A follow up video is definitely a possibility! For a striker duo, I've got a couple of favourites: An AF with a F9 works wonders for pretty much the same reason as the IF & F9 pairing explained in the video. I also really love a double PF on attack, as they put immense preasure on the opponent's CB's and DM's. And of course you can't go wrong with the old fashioned speedy AF with a TF on support

That combination can definitely work as well! The AF will push the 2 CB's back, which can create some room for the inside forwards to get into.

Hey commenting a bit late but do you have any combinations for the Enganche or Trequartista?

The enganche will look to ping balls constantly without loving much himself, so you would want some runners around him. A good choice would be a Advanced Forward, Shadow striker or Inside Forward to make some dangerous runs for the Enganche to play to. The Trequartista on the other hand is all about moving constantly to find space. A great role attacking wise, but he will hardly defend. A great combo is to have a Centermid on defend or a ball winning midfielder to cover the Trequartista defensively

F9 seems unusuable when you are strong favorite, opposition will sit deep also their dms will close even tinniest space F9 could use

I see your point, and it is a valid one. However I do think that there is still something to say for the F9 when you're the strong favorite. No matter how deep the opponent will sit, the F9 will still be able to drop from the striking position. Everytime he does that, there has to be a "hand-off" between the CBs and the DMs. Even if the opponent is sitting deep, constantly making their CBs and DMs look to eachother for who is going to mark the F9 is bound to force a mistake, which you're team can then take advantage of. You can also look at the Barca years where Messi was succesfully playing as a F9 in a side which were the clear favority in the majority of the games

@@coachroan i must disagree because F9 droping like he does will try get ball but space for him is literally too crowded in final third and thats why more goal focused forward who will harass last line would be better. About Messi he was successful but remember how Mourinho shut him down with that iconic Inter Barca game, he put 2 dms and plus 2 cbs that makes cage around F9. Also this is game and its hard to control players which can be done in real life so that are my points against F9 even tho i rly like that role

I agree that the F9 himself will probably not have a impact in the game with an opponent like that, but I believe he can still function as that decoy for the opposition to have to mark, making room for other dangerous players. The Inter Barca game is indeed a great example of how to nullify a F9, but that was one of the best defensive teams in the last couple of years. I think that a lot of teams that won't have the defensive disciple or quality will still struggle handling a F9 with IF's running into the space left behind. But don't get me wrong, I fully see your point! That's also the beauty of tactics and Football Manager, there won't be a role/tactic that will work all the time 100%, keeping us evolving our plans!

i got that situation too, little solution of this i made additional instructions to make f9 stay wide or more roaming if the team have the ball, set look for underlap and focus play at the opposition side of f9, put shadow striker behind f9 and set winger at opposition side of F9 to be IF or IW. the main point is we must create distraction and overload at one side to pull this defensive box of opponent to be far from f9 and his partner like SS or another AM near him

Interesting when you mentioned roles when you needed a player who can finish his dinner/take chances that you didn't mention Composure. In FM21 and FM22 Composure was more important than Finishing and I have seen some KZbin saved where this still seemed to be true. Have you found that Composure is less important now? Composure is a bit hit and miss for me, seems like it plays a role this year but nothing major. You can check out one of Jayhuahua's latest videos for the impact of composure (great creator btw). But what are in your opinion the most important attributes for a goalscorer?

@@coachroan 🤔Interesting, haven't played FM23 much so hard to comment. I will say though that context probably plays a huge role in the success of a Striker/Attacker scoring goals. Do you need as much Composure if you are converting from long distance as opposed to the 6 yard box. Some Attackers will thrive in one system and get nowhere in another. One of my favourite surprises in FM21 was discovering Hlozek was an excellent Inside Forward not just because of his Physicals, Composure and Finishing but because his Heading meant he would pop up at the back post and power in crosses that came from the Left Wing. One season he out scored Parrot and a Uruguayan New Gen Striker who both scored 25+ goals. I think he had 36 in all comps. Then back post headers played a big part in it. I didn't set it up, FM just figured it out.

I bought him to be my first choice Striker long term and was giving minutes as an Inside Forward to keep him happy & developing but within a season or two it was clear he needed to stay in the IF role & he only played Striker when I had an terrible Injury crisis towards the end of one season. This probably cost me the Champions League despite Hlozek busting a gut!!!

Aw man I was hoping that you may have something with Raumdeuter. I’ve been recently trying that one, as I realized one of my players should do a good job, however my player who was scoring all the time as an inside forward couldn’t do anything as Raumdeuter. I couldn’t figure out why, maybe he just didn’t have enough raum to operate but whatever.

Yeah the Raumdeuter is a tricky role to master. I have to be honest, I haven't found the best way to use it as well. Still trying though, so if I find a role that combines with the Raumdeuter well, I'll definitely feature it in a part 2!

I think you largely can! You might miss a little of the centerbacks trying to mark the trequartista, but his dynamic movement should still create the same amount of trouble for the defenders!

I've been getting insane production from setting my WCBs on Attack and teaming them with a CD in the middle. They basically act as a counterbalance to an attack. If one side gets too overloaded I've noticed that they kick the ball to the other side to a WCB who can then can and will dribble toward the byline for a cross or they just take on the keeper and try to score themselves. You need a CB who also has the ability to play as a FB and has good dribbling and crossing. Reese James is probably the best of the best but I've gotten good production out of Simmaken as well as Micky Van de ven Van de ven is around a 13 on crosses as well as reading the game well. He had 3 goal and 11 assists on my last save using this tactic..

Hello, the most significant difference I find that significantly changes the formation when I defend it is the following: In the 442, the wingers are used as W or IW (winger or inverted winger), providing more defensive support when tracking back. On the other hand, in the 424, they are used as IF (I think that's the translation, sorry, I'm a argentinian and I'm not familiar with the exact translation of the positions jaja). They push forward more and close in more aggressively while attacking, and they don't drop back like a winger when defending.@@coachroan

@@brunoparanaify your english is absolutely fine, don't worry! Having the IF's instead of pure wingers does put a bit more pressure on your backline, that's certainly true. My advice: Keep your fullbacks a bit further back, and fully focus on dominating the midfield. Those 2 CMs will be left on an island by themselves, so you can look to dominate that part of the pitch and create chances from the center
