I'm loving your vids on this game. I went bankrupt the first game in campaign. Once I watched your vids, customize my gameplay in sandbox, I was able to take my time to learn the game (new player), learn everything to know about the production tab, remove AIs and just have the traders and 1 pirate, I'm at a balance of over $3.5M. It was so easy to achieve. Money just piling up and I haven't reach Engineers yet. Thanks for your helpful tips.

Another reason why having good relations with the pirates is good is something that I like to do, I often buy canons from Jean la Fortune and sell them to Isabel Sarmento for almost 500 profit

The real value of Garrick is in not having to bother with gold mines (or at least less). Which is worth much more than any money in the world.

I really enjoy turn based strategy. RTS always makes me feel like I’m falling behind the enemy. I need time to think and strategize. I hope this game is more forgiving than other RTS games I’ve played.

I know this is a month late, but there is an option to slow down the game speed in game to half time, it gives me the ability to react to stuff much faster and keep up with the AI.

On tip 5 tho, I would say, always make friend with Jean LaFortune. You spend less time in new world than old world, you dont want to be spending to much time managing his fleet. But Anne Harlow, unless she is directly on your trade route with new world or Arctic, you can keep her ennemy and just destroy her ship. That will pay a fair amount of gold, rhum, weapons and items and specialist.

It's been a few years since I've played Anno 1800, but with Cities Skylines 2 needing more time in the oven, I figured I'm come back and see what's become of this excellent Anno addition. I was blown away. It runs great, there's loads of interesting DLC, etc. Plus stamps...stamps just work, lol. One thing I noticed while watching this video is that in the couple of days I"ve been reaquainting myself with the game, I haven't had to mess with influence at all...completely forgot about it and even on normal difficulty with more guidance set, I wasn't being prompted to spend influence. Is that odd?

I have a tip for you and I say it every time I watch your videos :)......you can search your trade ships for specific items or ports. Ports names dont change from originals even if you redo them however. I am sure you know this but I watch you run through all your trade routes looking for something. Put grain or corn or coal in the search and it will show every ship that is supposed to be picking that stuff. Maybe you just thinks its faster scrolling not sure...

Once you reach Investors money is no longer an issue, so all bonuses increasing that resource are irrelevant. At that point it's all about production of several key products/resources.

Tip 1 did me in. Anno 1800 is my first game of the series and I'm about 12 hours almost at engineers. I did not know that about the marketplace! And another video warned me that needs change as buildings level up. This is punishing me with marketplace placement and upgrades of random residences (instead of upgrading a block)

Using him, the guy that give +2 attractiveness and 10% income and the books with 40% extra income. With 4 town halls of investors and 2 town halls with engineers (with actor instead of attractiveness boost) and still making like 120k/min. Also till yesterday I didn't have anything built in new world, so this money without making rum, canned food, coffee, chocolate, tobacco, caoutchouc and maybe more.

I ALWAYS kill the pirates and retain ships out of harbor range for the random monitors that randomly come to rebuild to take them out without my intervention. Saves me attention bandwidth for maintaining MASSIVE trade routes when I decouple industry for specializationing my islands.

Wish I’d known about grabbing islands early.. by the time I was ready to outsource farming functions to other islands the AI, well, one of the AI, already had most of them. Now I’m kind of forced to go to war with them at some point down the line.

Thank you so much for sharing your expert tips and knowledge. Please can I ask, there are some who describe in detail how to amass an army of ships to eventually destroy the pirate location and all their ships. I have been trying to do this, but it seems almost impossible to achieve with my level of gamesmanship. And this I have found very overwhelming. Plus, my attempts at attacking them failed and only made relations even worse, now my islands are all at risk of constant reprisal attacks from them. With all the other aspects to consider at my level in the game and given that I only have a few Artisans, I have now given up and decided start a fresh game. Do you think there is any merit in playing to dominate and destroy Ann Harlow at any point in the game please?

I LOVE this game... but I always get a tad overwhelmed once I hit artesans and investors. When I hit engineers and oil... things always start falling apart and I never get to enjoy the skyscraper DLC I bought cause I just get annoyed and move to something else.

Brass is a much needed commodity.. especially if you don't change up production chains with specialists.

@@TakaKZbin True, but once you get the guy for glasses it becomes obsolete. Combine it with the specialist that produces extra steam engines (From sewing machines, Bicycle Factory and something else) and you never need it again. And untill that point a few mines of either ore will sufficies.

How about the one time I clicked on the warning that my trade route had an issue... And when I clicked on it... It brought me to one of the AI's trade ships and gave me the ability to change where the ship went and what and when It loaded. That capability is already in the game. So now give me a DLC where I can succeed from that bitch the queen!

It can just be building houses if you want it to be.. you can play on the easiest settings imaginable and have the most relaxed city building game you can imagine. but once you start diving into it it really starts getting more and more complicated
