Please don't choose your main based on what some KZbin says. Just play what you enjoy! I've been playing since the beginning and every addon is the same. As soon as the addon starts, a lot of class buffs and nerfs usually come after days or max 1-2 weeks and that often changes a lot about the supposedly bad or meta classes. All the KZbinrs do all this crap for clicks and yes, almost everyone goes along with it. Don't play a class just because it can tank/heal if you don't like playing that anyway. This meta talk is only really for the very best who want to break new records and these are exactly the people who won't get their opinion from a KZbinr.

i quit shaman back in season 3 when they changed the tier set to be focused on lava build for both ele and enhance, finally comming back to play shaman again for TWW and im pretty excited about that change they got. storm/lightning build all the way, most satisfying playstyle with all the sound effects and playstyle, feels much smoother and less clunky

I think best thing to do especially if you are solo is to lvl a warlock or hunter warlock will get picked more for groups but both can solo really well do that to finish your main quests and maybe lvl a healer then after a while things will get buffed then pic your real main

@@icswack6015 I gave up applying to groups as dps a very long time ago, and only run my own groups. Even if you're a ranged spec, meta, and have heroism too, you still don't get into groups because there is always someone else with the same features but 10 more points in rio score, and they'll get invited instead. Group leaders literally wait for half an hour in the group finder just to get super geared and super scored players to carry them.

as someone who used to main shaman from WoD to Shadowlands. I've said it before, I'm saying it right now and will say it again. Shaman never, never is a "safe" pick play it if you enjoy the playstyle, but be prepared to be mid at best for the next 10 years.

@@chaselane9827 it is true though? as arguably atrocious as enhancement's bloat and nonsensical rotation are for most since dragonflight, I wasn't speaking specifically about those pain points. Shaman DPS has been mid at best since, well... ever, of course there have been a couple of fights were it shined and some instances were it was godlike like that glory week in tomb where chain lightning was broken or the hilariousness of glitching corruptions in n zoth. Still, last time it was "great" in a game mode throughout a season was enhancement in early shadowlands in RBG where you could even take down healers in a stun with doomwinds, outside of it, historically, both specs have been hanging between mediocre and "viable" with a couple of "good" for the last 10 years, not "meta or safe" picks due to multiple latent issues, not just DPS. Exception being restoration which has enjoyed a couple of times in the spotlight over the last couple of expansions, primarily in mythic+. yet again, as I pointed out before, enjoyment and performance are entirely different monters.

I feel like shaman isn't really a safe option, you need to have good experience with it to do well in any content except solo content where no one else depends on you I wouldn't say it's an easy pick for a beginner to roll a shaman

@Slayerdudeto unholy was buffed a while back but it always had a good dmg profile due to its burst dmg. Often it's the dmg profile which is more important then total dmg at the end of a boss or dungeon run. Most meta M+ specs are metal more for utitility and survivability then raw dmg.

No mmo has every class/spec balanced. It doesn't happen unless you artificially make everyone do the same dmg just flat with stats and procs being meaningless. Unless you are pushing the top 1 percent in mythic raiding or PVP you can play anything. There are people who've pushed world first keys with complete non-meta comps.

There’s no way the had a dedicated group to play for the entire season or anything like that. Im talking about the way most players experience the game which is log in and pug and the reality is if you’re not meta you’re warming the bench. And also you won’t see much success as a solo player relying only on your key, thats just not a thing.
