Here's a simpler system that I use: when I have an insight, I just open up the Google Assistant and say "Note to self..." and then dictate the insight in my own words, which I find is often more helpful then reading other people's words - I record why it was meaningful to me. Also the process of dictating helps me clarify and reenforce the insight.

Thank you for this comment. 'Simpler' is better for me as well. Technology is great. There's always something new to learn - how fun! But as a writer, I find it very distracting to the core of the work. I still make notes in my journal. There's just something about writing, a thought or a quote, out by hand that stimulates the brain and pushes the story..

On a sad note my Dad has terminal cancer, but on a plus note I have been saved by your recommendations. When I am sat with him I automatically pull out my Kindle to read and am enjoying the ability to get lost in a book, I've read so much more as a result as well. When I am back home I love writing out quotes from the Readwise app and after I've saved them on my Kindle. It has reignited a love of fountain pens, ink and using a Stalogy Commonplace book.(Not yet ready for Notion!) Your video made a huge difference to my life and has helped me to find some peace at a very difficult time. Thanks Ali. I hope you read this.

I have a similar issue with collection of a lot of insightful KZbin videos that I want to watch later. Is there any way to integrate these videos into Readwise, like with podcasts?

Wow, I’m also reading The Elephant in the Brain on my Kindle. Coincidence or is KZbin’s video recommendation algorithm just that good?
