Been driving BMWs for the past 22 years and I have owned a total of 9 so far. Currently, I own 3, E53, E60 and my daily driver an E65. The success factor for BMWs from my experience is maintenance and not skimping on parts. For me it's BMW or nothing else. Thanks for the video

Most common issue with BMW in Nigeria is electrical...HERE is the solution... All BMWs use a battery for 5years straight MAX...then it stops working battery DIES completely. Now changing the battery isn't an issue, its registering...people don't know that u need to register the new battery for that car. What happens is if u don't register, it wont give the right voltage to its electrical panels. after driving for a week to a month... the modules fries n short circuits. BIG PROBLEM.

You need to be a smart guy to own a bmw. I have owned 3 BMWs - 7 series, 5 series & 3 Series. Srove them several years. These cars are for tech-smart people who knows some DIYs, but most Nigerians aren't. The plastic parts in the engines can actually last longer than mentioned in this video if good bleeding is done on the cooling system. Avoid the turbos, .... there are specific models that have minimal issues. BMW is a driver's car.

I won 3 BMW s. Currently. My first was the e34 520 white then the 530 e34 V8 red.. then to the e36 320 24v white next was the e36 328 convertible in techno violet .. Now to my current collection s .. e46 318 N42 manual , e46 330 M54 convertible 6 speed manual( converted) .and X5 e53 3.p 5 speed manual.... To enjoy BMW ,you need to follow BMW technical specification for that model...not cutting corners . eg use specified BMW approved coolant readily available at Tradefair in Lagos though expensive but better than water and you will almost certainly never experience an overhearting in the next 2 years.. use BMW specified approved oil rather than random oil ,20w50 is not good for BMW , that is affordable and contribute to engine failure .... I love the brand and I will not or never depart ... Again ALl the models that I have own are direct import ..Never buy a used Nigeria model.... u will cry and hate yourself ..import where you can ..... Don't accept the rubbish that what works for the oyinbo will not work here in Nigeria .... Engineering has no region ... . There are reasons why they specify something ...billions of dollars are spent on Research and Development... don't let a mechanic convince you otherwise..Always follow BMW specification, advice and updates .... Good luck ....

My E60 550i Msport caught fire and disintegrated to dust while parked after a drive. It had 106k sad, but i believe it was the plastic coil cover from the valve cover, and it slipped off the grommet and slid between the exhaust manifold and shock tower. This was my 3rd 5 series Msport with the v8. the Nigerian is not lying. Plastic is the failure point, and this last one, just wasn't made to last more than 10 years.

To own a bmw in Nigeria, u need to either have a mech guy who is technically good, who can use bmw software like inpa or ista. The regular obd2 won't pick bwm exclusive fault codes. Bwm is rugged mechanically, but electronically it doesn't tolerate trial & error repairs that most road side mechanics do here.. U must scan, it will tell u what is wrong, u replace and it will work. Mechanics have damaged a lot of vehicles here because they are not trained to use scanning tool for diagnosis. I have a 2001 740i that has withstand test of time. One day a transmission cooler hose busted on the road, all the trans fluid drained out but I managed to drive the car to my office in trans-fail-safe mode. I bought a new fluid and refill that's it. The automatic transmission is still shifting fine till today. My advice, if u don't have a good mechanic and u can't do it yourself, do yourself a favor, buy something else.

Outstanding literally it's a documentary, well though out and very informative. I had a BMW 735 V8 for about three years without one problem. I think there may be an issue with our low quality fuel ( octane level ❓🤔) etc. I used a BMW X5 for a few years in Nigeria but didn't have any real issues. Think an issue may be our own maintenance culture in Nigeria. BMW are like a high maintenance girlfriend, that needs a lot of TLC otherwise things go west.

Wow! Crank, I love this video. BMWs are the absolute worst. Many Nigerians who own it don't know much about cars or have lots of money so they dont care. BMWs are money pits. Many of its reliability issues stem from choices/sacrifices made for performance, however, that performance is barely used on a daily bases on our Nigerian roads...so what gives? Benz is the Ultimate standard for luxury and if you buy right, you get same performance as what a BMW produces without the hassle of the tons of issues a Bimmer comes with. The average Nigeria cannot afford the luxury of owning more than 1 car, therefore, reliability would always be king in our choices.

It's weird how Mercedes suddenly becomes more reliable than BMW in Nigeria. Here in Europe, BMWs are far more reliable than Mercedes and you get up to 12000miles before the next service whilst Mercedes needs servicing between 4000 to 8000miles. I guess it's probably the low quality of materials used in Nigeria that makes BMW problematic over there such as the Petrol, Diesel and Engine Oil.

The Benz 190E is a better formidable cost no object machine. The money spent by benze to design the rear suspension was more than the entire money used to make the bmw m3.
