I still wonder if Dallas Mavs didn’t pay Brendan Haywood that money to be a starter but just a backup or let him walk if they still would keep Tyson Chandler assuming they trade for him.

+Cowboy X Factor quite possibly, yeah. With the lockout looming, Cuban was convinced he understood how the CBA was going to play out and he misread the situation terribly. But if they hadn’t given Haywood that deal at the start of the previous offseason, only to then acquire Tyson later that offseason, they might’ve re-considered who to pay and who to let walk.

Kinda of surprised that Shawn Bradley didn't make this list seeing how bad played and for how much he was paid and also how long he played for the mavericks, he should be in the the #1 spot no questions asked.

I don't know why everyone hates on Barnes so much, he is a very talented player for his position and puts up good numbers. I don't see him as a #1 on a contender, but the teams that are contenders right now are pretty much stacked at every position in their starting 5 at least. We have no chance at a ring right now, and Barnes is a pretty exciting player to watch. Just give it a few years Mavs fans, we have no choice but to trust the process right now! Can't wait for Deandre lobs and Dennis Smith dunks this coming season, as well as seeing what Donic is really about. #GoMavs

His contact isn't bad when you look at the new salary cap. The only players that are better than Harrison making less $$$ than him are Kawhi and Kris Middleton. Otto Porter makes more than Harrison and I don't think he's better.

Agreed, like I said, I really like Barnes. I think he's worth at least a 1st round pick and maybe more. I'm happy to have him on our team, but I don't want to see him at the 4, to me he's a perfect 3.

The 2010 All-star game trade with the Wizards (when it happened and in hindsight) was the best trade Dallas has made. Without that trade we don’t win the 2011 title. At that time it was all about beating the Lakers we needed to have the platoon on Chandler & Haywood to dethrone the Lakers!!! Again in hindsight (as you stated) Haywood contract was a bad move but he was a very good center in 2010 but never replicated his production after Chandler left!!!

How about Chandler Parsons?
@TheDallasProspect
@TheDallasProspect 6 жыл бұрын
Gio Buen Parsons would’ve been an honorable mention. He signed a 3 year, $46.1 million deal with a player option in year 3. He played fine enough in-season but recurring knee issues kept biting us around playoff time. So it didn’t pan out but he did nearly land us wes Matthews and DeAndre in free agency, which was (almost) nice.

Good point man. I remember now he only played for the Mavs for 2 seasons. Thank god he opted out of his last year player option haha

Great Video Darreck much love and support for your channel brother. I don't have any ideas for any future videos but I do have a few questions for you. Do you think the Mavs have a chance to make the playoffs? I say they do as high as a 6th seed and as low as a 8th seed. And do you think the Mavs Starting 5 would look like this come opening day: PG-Dennis Smith Jr. SG-Wesley Matthews SF-Luka Doncic PF- Harrison Barnes C-Deandre Jordan My final question is there any free agent who you would like the Mavericks to sign in the future?

Hey Gabriel, thanks for the comment and your support. I do think Dallas has a chance to make the playoffs but it will be tough. I think they lost a significant weapon in Seth Curry and his absence will be felt throughout the season. If Dennis Smith continues to rise and doesn't have a sophomore slump, and Luka Doncic plays as well or better than most project in his first season, that combined with DeAndre giving this team a legit rebounder and rim protector, not to mention a bailout as far as a lob threat, could help Dallas to as high as a 7 seed I think. But I could also see them being as low as 11th or 12th in the West if these things don't happen. On starting day lineup, I agree totally. Barring injury, that's what it will look like I bet. I'd like to see a frontcourt pick up, particularly the power forward spot here soon as we have a plethora of guards and limited depth along the frontcourt. With Dirk likely retiring after this season, we need some help there. Stretch 4's are always nice.

In regards to Damp, yes he was overpaid. But the Mavs were so bad defensively with Dirk & Nash that we needed a solid defensive center & rebounder like Damp. Was Shaq, Garnett, Duncan available for the Mavs defense??? Shawn Bradley was not going to cut it??? We don’t beat the Spurs in 2006 with Damp. The defensive presence of Damp & Diop helped make it a lot tougher for the Spurs to score easy baskets. Plus Dampier being traded for Tyson Chandler helps his stock.

Weslew mathews?

Agustin Cortes Wes is definitely overpaid but he’s not a bad player. He’s a leader in the locker room and their best defender. I suppose I also give him a little benefit of the doubt given he tore his Achilles before signing with Dallas, whereas guys like Damp and LaFrentz were totally healthy.
