The $55 Fortnite 'POTATO' Gaming PC - Is 1080p SMOOTH FPS Possible...!?

Күн бұрын

Asked if I could build a PC for under $100 that could play Fortnite with smooth FPS at 1080p, I thought 'sure thing' I just need to wait for the opportunity to come, and today is just that opportunity, with a bargain deal on a dirty throw away PC that has an i7-950 and GTX 770... that was packed with undiscovered gold (750W PSU, RAM, X58 Motherboard, Noctua Cooler...). I decided to apply the Tech YES skillset and restore this PC to it's once (and even better) glory days, to see if we can really play games at 1080p for this budget. I also manage to take a look at RDR2, Dota 2 void spirit update, and CS:GO, to see how far we have come at this budget.

I'll tell you how to copy to epic games laucnher after hours upon hours of headaches, you need to install epic games launcher obviously, then start installing the game you intend to copy, wait until its downloaded a noticeable chuck, say 500 mb roughly, then stop the download, CLOSE epic launcher, copy your game to the exact installation directory, then reopen epic and restart the download, then it will discover your files. Its absolutely annoying but saves your redownloading 50gb every time you needa install fortnite Edit: the reason you need to download the 500ish mb is because epic launcher doesn't save download progress if its too small of an amount, if you pause the download immediately, epic will delete the files you copy over and restart the download

Ahhhhh, that MB was an excellent MB back in its day. Those Ultra Durable MB's were awesome value. Its the only reason its still kickin. Also, it was so dirty because it lived near the coast and was likely sitting on a timber or concrete floor. The salty air is very corrosive, which is why so much of it was rusted. The PC, may be working now. But it probably doesn't have a long life ahead of it. Interesting video man.

Man I miss old school full towers with wheels so it's easy to move and work on. I still use a old original Stacker for my I7 980 win 7 box. My slightly newer I7 4960x running 10 has a Corsair 750d I put some cheap wheels on. I might eventually see if I can graft in my spare Stacker wheels as they are so much better made and heavy duty. The newer cases have much qiueter and bigger fans and in its day the Stacker seemed dead quiet. Another thing I miss is removable mother board trays so you can easily bolt things in then slide everything into place. The square holes for setting up large tower heat syncs helps a lot on the new boards so you don't have to pull everything just to upgrade a big cooler. I used to stuff in a bunch of DVD burners and hard drives and play games and a huge case could hold everything with space to spare and stay cool. People just don't do that anymore but I still love my full towers so I can add whatever I want and have plenty of cooling.

I feel you in this video. I got a parted Dell Inspiron 4350T. It had an i7-920 and a GT430. Bought and installed a 120 GB SSD, 1TB 7200 RPM HDD, 16 GB DDR3 RAM and put a GTX 950 GPU. I also got a Xeon X5650 CPU, but man....similar problems as you...Dirty and so many issues getting the damn thing to boot up!! But after all the hard work it is a fantastic sub $150 build! It weighs 50 lbs, but at least it will outlast the Zombie apocalypse!! Try getting an X5650 CPU for your next LGA 1366 build. I cant overclock it with this motherboard (Dell OEM X58) but i went from a Cinebench R20 score of 900 to 1320 points!!!!!

Currently got: 7850 2gb - €10 2 x 4gb ddr3 - Free Gigabyte h77 - Free Pentium g630 - Free. Probably gonna try to find a cheap i5 or i3 to replace it. Was so close to getting a i5 3470 for €8. 500 gb HDD - Free Hopefully a can find a decent looking case and psu for ~€10-20

I like your videos overall, but you have to admit, this was a REALLY uncommon deal for those specs, especially if comparing to what you find on ebay. Hell, someone JUST selling a gtx 770 ALONE if they listed it as "working" on ebay can EASILY exceed $100 (USD) today. TBH, I see people selling 750 gtx TI's on ebay right now for $80+ still on a regular basis lol, although with a lot of scouting it's SOMETIMES possible to get them for $50-60 USD. Anyway, used GPU prices right now are kind of ridiculous either way. Anyway, congrats on the great find, it can happen to anyway if they keep their eyes open, but I hope everyone realizes to not EXPECT to see deals like this often.

I know this is incredibly late and I don't know if you've been told/figured it out yet on your own, but the Epic Games Launcher has I think TWO separate config file that it reads (I believe it's in the appdata folders somewhere) that verifies the game is installed and then the directory of the games as well. It's absolutely trash to work with which is why benchmarking Fortnite was one of my least favorite things on a new build.
