@DafneMarchesan2 жыл бұрын
your voice type has nothing to do with how low/high you can go (range), but with where you're most comfortable (tessitura). Thom is 110% a tenor.
@Gomba132 жыл бұрын
About Creep, they didn't hate the song, that is a misconception so often repeated that people believe it. They hated performing it, but it wasn't the song itself they had an issue with but how it came to symbolize sudden unexpected success they were not prepared to deal with (which caused Thom's alcoholism). The song had become sort of traumatic for them. But they never hated the song itself.

As a musician and producer, I’ve always been mesmerized by the sounds Radiohead can create. Never realized how much of a virtuouso thom is when it comes to vocals lol I was too wrapped up in the music theory. Truly the best music of all time.

The special thing about Thom (in my opinion) is not many incredible high notes. It's his tone an that he's able to change it without taking a breath. I think a good example of this is "We suck young blood".
@TAJMofficial2 жыл бұрын
He also does a high note in that song

i think his vocals on Twist from his solo album are really impressive. Cause the phrasing starts on a high note and descends before ascending again ending on a high note. he also sings low on this track. if you haven't heard it i highly recommend.

Thom had (maybe still has) a vocal coach. I don't know where you all are getting that he's an untrained singer from. He has an idiosyncratic style and unique tone but you don't get to be the virtuoso he is and have the vocal longevity he's had without some training.

These videos are really entertaining even as a guitarist who knows nothing about singing. The Tourist is one of my favourite songs from them. My best friend has been a professional church piano/organ player for 43 years. And for the last 20 of those years, I have tried to explain to her, (in my severe ineptitude of musical skill,) that there is SOMETHING about Thom's voice that reminds me of some of the older hymns that she plays. Especially anything Yiddish... I've never been educated in music, but I can hear every single minute nuance in his voice. And now I can't wait to show my friend this video, to finally prove to her what I could never explain. Much love for this video. 🥰

@garretts.20032 жыл бұрын
Even on their earlier less evolved albums Thom always had great vocals. You is a great example. The scream he sings out sounds like a mix of 80s hair metal with enough distress that it sounds punk af. I'm so glad that Radiohead always did their own thing and I'm so glad Thom never tried to lean into the Pearl Jam type vocals that were popular during the grunge and post-grunge era. Radiohead is simply the best. Edit: lol you is in the video. Hadn't made it that far. Excellent choice of vocal examples dude!

@@CrazySinging Most people only really took note of Radiohead after their second record, and as a result, many people say they hate the first record, just because it doesn't sound like the rest of them. And that's a pity, because that record is a great one. I was already a die hard fan by the time the second one came out, and You was instrumental to that, as well as Blow Out (another solid vocal performance). I still listen to it. That record already sounded like Radiohead, and I see a clear connection between that sound and all that came after.
