Today I was walking my dogs in the local park and as I was walking through an old autumnal flower bed that was dead I noticed two long stems about 3 inches maybe less with small brown caps with white speckles around the edge of the caps. I leaned down and picked them together and white root like material came with them. I folded paper around them and brought them home. Now I want to start a new hobby as I’ve mastered growing indoors I want to try mushrooms now. What should I do now though?

Buy a dehumidifier to store them dried. Store them in sealed plastic bag s with silica gel. When harvesting do not pull, cut them off with a sterile tool. Those “white roots” were the mycelia network, once pulled out mushrooms will not regrow in that spot

@zeratul600 Жыл бұрын
find boomer shroomer here on yt, she got a video explaining it, its called live culture, you gotta take a fresh mushroom, open its stem, and take a small sample from it (everything involved must be highly sterilized), then you drop your sample in petri dish, wait until it has colonized the petri dish, then you cut the colonized agar, break it into small parts, and put it in a bag of spawn, mix it a little bit, close it and wait until micelium starts to colonize it, when it has colonized 10 - 30 % of the spawn bag (white mycelium permeates the grain and is visible from outside the bag) you can shake gently so the colononized grain mix up with the uncolonized one, and makes the whole process faster (might cut colonization time in half), at 80% colonization i believe you gotta transfer your spawn bag to the bulk substrate and wait until its colonozide to force the fructification stages by making changes to temp/humidity/fresh air
