I used to train enhanced with the goal of becoming pro, but have been natural for the past 8+ years as my career, family, and life became more of a priority. I now have a home gym and have gotten amazing results in muscle size, shape, and leanness all naturally. I'm honestly very impressed I could even look the way I do without being enhanced. The one thing I'll say about training natural is that I do get more sore and take longer to recover. Although training enhanced meant I had to push more weight and have much higher intensity, which could lead to injuries. The great thing about training naturally is the cost savings! At this point in my life I'm more concerned with stashing tons of money away for retirement (while still being in great shape) rather than spending tons of money on food and enhancements trying to be as big as possible. Something no one ever talks about is how people spend sooooo much money on bodybuilding when they will never become a professional anyways.

Definitely can see both perspectives here, honestly though I think that the reason why people don't think they can achieve much naturally is because most people don't necessarily think that Natural bodybuilders(as in people like Eric Helms or Omarisuf) compared with most of their goals. It is a lot easier to look ripped than big without being fat, and that is doubly true for natural bodybuilders. On the other hand, everyone can look better, be stronger, and generally improve their body composition without any drugs at all, or supplements for that matter. Many natural powerlifters are extremely strong without any drugs whatsoever, the real marked difference is the hypertrophy over all other aspects, which is why juiced bodybuilders look much different from natural bodybuilders.

Rets Rational good points. I am only 152lbs and 5’8 and the leanest I’ve ever been. I am enjoying all the muscles popping through the skin just being lean. It’s exciting to me, that I don’t care if I ever have to bulk again. Maybe once I reach an elite level of lean, I will consider a lean bulk if that’s even possible, but the biggest advice I have for someone who feels defeated, is to get absolutely shredded and you feel more confident from the definition. I would rather have SOME muscle and very defined than walk around with a pot belly in an endless off season. Off season is sometimes a cop out for people who don’t want to take the time to dig dig dig!!

17:00 I'd say this is the one of, if not THE MOST important point made in this video. The internet could be a toxic place sometimes because there are so many people out there "giving advice" or "correcting others" that speak only from their own experience while ignoring the gigantic genetic differences individuals might have between one another. Just because something works or doesn't work for you doesn't mean it won't or will work for somebody else

I started my journey a year and a half ago and the amount of information out there is pretty overwhelming. If I could add one to the list I'd say that there is time to learn and grasp these things. In the mean time I'll master the things that are within my grasp until they become second nature while continuing to implement what I learn.

I think there's 2 main types of fitness people: let's call them the "all-in" guys and the "hobbyist" guys. The "all-in" guys are willing to get 5-6 meals a day, hire personal coaches, train 5 times a week, etc... and yes, they are probably willing to step into "enhanced" territory. They are or aspire to be fitness models/influencers, competitive bodybuilders and powerllifters, etc... The "hobbyist" guys are willing to train like 3 times a week, clean up their diet, spend reasonable money on supplements, and adopt overall healthy life habits. Most of them probably understand they have no business messing with PEDs. Then you have those guys not really fitting in one of the 2 main categories. I believe there is such a thing as "natural all-in" guys who do everything but the PEDs. These people happen to be some of the best, most knowledgeable and reliable fitness resources that the "hobbyists" should get their information from. And then you have the "cheaters" who are not willing to go "all-in" but want to look like they do. I think they are easy to spot and the only thing they can (sometimes) succeed at is flattering their own ego.
@incomemobile85663 жыл бұрын
Does the world really need more influencers. It sounds very egotistical. You lift because you love it, not because of who you can influence or get to follow you. Most people you follow will inevitably wind up in the grave just like everybody else. Then what?

Good points aimed at bodybuilders who want to compete (which is of course great). Just to anyone like myself who tends to overthink stuff for the level I want to be at, which is just decent looking and strong just remember not to take it too seriously. Just because you won't look your best if you take it easy for a bit or eyeball food (imo you shouldn't measure unless you have a serious goal) doesn't take away the benefits of working out. As Jeff said sustainability and consistency is the most important part. I know this video isn't intended for your average gym bro but I feel there are a lot of people (including myself) that turn to these types of videos and end up getting paralysed by over analysis...

I know this comment is two years old, but I'm literally at this point right now. Been focusing on eating at maintenance or slightly under been spinning my wheels on most exercises, feeling beatwn up and drained lost days, stuck to a full body 3x a week program sale exercises each day, to scared to change reps or sets or switch exercises because of the notion of sticking with the same exercises for progressive overload and getting stronger at them. One could argue, is it the calories, is it pushing each set close to failure, do I need more rest because I'm not giving my body enough calories etc. I just want to feel good and build a great physique. It is honestly so difficult, because so many people say different things, I have no idea what to do anymore, paralysis by analysis for sure.

My biggest problem is diet. I faltered off my diet the last 3 weeks & gained 30lb, I didnt go crazy I ate some cookies, cake twice & allowed myself to eat some fatty foods like '5 guys' & Subway 3 times & now I weigh 368lb and 3 weeks ago I weighed 341lb. I admit my hunger is all consuming but I didn't go crazy and binge, my body seems to just want to weigh alot, 4 years ago I got up 482lb and in the past I've been over 475 twice. Once when I was 24yrs old I weight 460lb & trained & dieted for 18 months and got down to 275lb, dont know what my body fat was but I could see all 8 abbs and looked fantastic like I was someone else. Getting big is not my challenge, getting small is. Thanks again

Awesome video! I went from Ultra-Marathon runner to Body Builder about 10 years ago due to injury. 130 pounds and less than 6% body fat to 185 at about 10% body fat. I think people think there is a 'perfect workout.' In my experience it does not exist. It took me 10 years of trial and error to finally figure out my body and how it responds, from exercises to recovery time to nutrition. At 50 I am still making gains. Adding to your list is number 8. It takes time to build muscle. Take your time and it will come if you take the time to figure out your own body through trial and error. The Turtle always wins the race!

That's not good enough. You have to be willing to go thru the pain barrier 🚧 and break down societal norms as to what real pain feels like. It feels like hell. Then tastes like heaven for having endured the suffering. It's all about suffering for just a few sets, then reaping in the recovery phase.

#3 was so true. I've trained natural since high school. Then off and on through growing up. Then I hit 50 and I went full steam ahead after my son got out of the Marines. We had a house fire 2 year's ago and I kinda stopped lifting. To focused on rebuilding our life. I'm 61 now and it all comes back.
