Personally I feel you. I actually foresaw all of this because of my education and background in game design. I am also a CEO and founder of my own project. So, I understand exactly what the team was doing. So, I was able to prepare and move my assets accordingly so I want get burn but profit from it $. So, I know as I profit so much others will lose. But your statements are felt around majority of the player base especially those that have left. I am sticking around though because I know its going to get better and the SPL team has learn from there mistakes hopefully. I do disagree about one thing do about item and spell cards. Their mechanics are coded different from tactics. Tactics are only allowed in Summoners period so its like a fix set. Item and spell cards sound to me like things you can bring into multiple battles kind of like a lux vega theme where anything goes except little league. Items sound like an enchantment like in magic the gathering like equipping a card with a buff while spell cards sound like instances where you cost them while the battle was ongoing to change the outcome of the game. So eventually I look at it like the game wont be a pure auto battler in the future hence battles 2.0

Good point on the item and spell cards. I guess i am seeing today tactics is just summoners. but it will be another 2 years before items and spells come out. in that 2 years. 2 more sets of cards will come out. and I am making the ASSUMPTION that they will keep enhancing tactics to the point it will start looking identical to Items and Spells. I still feel it stole the thunder from Item and Spell cards by introducing it. I acknowledge though people find the gameplay more exciting now.

Great video! I think you presented some very valid reasons to leave. I agree with MOST of them. I would say that your complaints around the Soulbound card unlocks is a bit skewed tho. As you stated “Rewards” Cards earned in the game are free incentives to earn valuable GAMEPLAY cards. It was never intended for reward cards to be sellable. No one has to unlock them. And the fact you mentioned that it was way overprinted is also a bit irrelevant from that perspective. As they are all locked and not easily tradeable it doesn’t matter how many were printed. They are, and still are intended as rewards to be earned and PLAYED in your accounts so the amount that is minted is in fact irrelevant. If the soulbound cards were easily made sellable (as you wanted)… then your comment around them would be accurate as a ton of them would flood the market and essentially be worthless. The fact that you have to pay a decent amount of money to unlock them encourages scarcity of readily available cards for others to buy… in turn making them more valuable.
@Eexus2 ай бұрын
Sidenote: I have also commented several times about the ease of on-boarding and UX. To bring on mainstream users we need a non-blockchain on-boarding process. Have you ever thought about creating your own game using the same assets? I’m a designer by trade so there may be something there. 😊 Sometimes if you can’t find what you’re looking for you have to make it yourself.
@nfoguides2 ай бұрын
Point noted. I guess when I started reward cards were free and tradable. When soulbound just started. They said they would be unlockable in the future. There wasn't a plan for this and I believe initially they did not mention anything about a cost being needed . So because I was here through the transition.. I have feelings of a rug pull... But you present a good perspective.

Soulbounds are trash - limiting a free market to spite bots was a bad idea Staking SPS for rewards was poorly thought out and caused the most loyal players to experience the most massive losses for holding Then charging them further to transfer/sell their own reward cards Poorly implemented sps node development Constant card inflation/ depreciation/power creep destroying value and scarcity of older cards Reward reworks x 5 just alienated players and promoted mass bot farms in bronze and silver for years instead of making diamond champion rewards actually worthwhile Rentals destroyed value of card ownership- rentals should return a large % of all winnings with that card back to the owner instead of a pricing model that drives rental values into the ground Modern Wild split was stupid with the limited player base and exorbitant pricing model for packs Could have easily just had more modern tournaments Now we have SPL bots creating match liquidity where a big complaint was bots make the game less fun regardless of who was the owner of the bot Pack pricing is ridiculous considering the many flaws, admitted zero marketing or even any idea of what it would take to make this game popular Pokemon packs are like $7 but u don’t need 400bcx of commons to play competitively yet no one knows this game and the gameplay is sub par in both graphics and development over 6 years
@nfoguides2 ай бұрын
Well said. I echo a lot of your feelings here. I was shocked when packs went from $2. To $4 with chaos legion release. I agree 💯 with you on the fact that the other TCG games don't need 400 bcx. So a higher pack cost isn't nearly that big of a deal for those games
@chrisjay23362 ай бұрын
@@nfoguides they overpaid underperforming staff They allowed bots at the expense of having to run $300k + per month server costs Why was bulldog getting paid apparently $160k a year… for what? What actual marketing did Chatter do for 3 years apart from little pop up brave ads then just complain google/meta forbids advertising for crypto $4 packs was stupid and so were vouchers when we were specifically sold sps to be the access token for things so we all bought a good sized amount based on the whitepaper for our given league
@nfoguides2 ай бұрын
I wont comment on what people were getting paid mainly because i cant prove that is accurate information or rumors. However the server costs, my perspective is a bit different. I don't see that as a bot issue. If splinterlands ever takes off with that many real players, that issue would have arisen and needed to be solved either way. How this happened is there was a very small team and the servers were not designed for a bunch of players. So when the flood of players came in the only thing they could do was throw money at more servers until they could get it under control.

I feel like a lot of players are being priced out this last year. If you're looking for another game to get into just for fun and without a huge investment check out mine. A few comments: 1. Overprinting grain is not the same as overprinting DEC. Because grain is just one of many resources we will need on land. Having tons of just one resource doesn't wreck the game at all. It will be insanely difficult for players to be self sufficient on land (by design). Having one of the resources in the bank already doesn't change that. 2. I get your point about tactics. But the way I see it, this is just a step towards item and spells, since the team could build out the tactics stage without having to put it on the shelf for a year. I am happy this part of item and spells is already developed. And I have no doubt that items and spells will become must have assets in the game. No matter if some summoners already have some tactics or not. 3. Your complaint about your land not making any profits is a bit ridiculous. You can mine SPS very efficiently. And you can sell grain as well. So I don't really know what you are talking about regarding this point. 4. About land being pushed out for NPE: I understand the frustration, since I am a land player too. But I think it's pretty obvious that the NPE is the thing that is holding the game back the most. NPE and successful onboarding of new players is the most important thing for the long term flourishing of the game. So, even though it sucks that land gets pushed out once again, I still consider it to be the right choice.
@nfoguides2 ай бұрын
1) I agree Grain is not DEC. but We have to recognize, grain was not meant to get printed 2 years before everything else for land comes into play. the market to sell grain will dry up with this overprinting. 2) Good point, i just really feel that in the next 2 years Tactics will morph more and take more and more away from item and spells. BUT. i am assuming this 3) I agree i did not acknowledge land making SPS. I would have to argue they only make it efficiently if you have Epic lands and above, stacked with some gold foil epics or legendary AND a Runi could help. for me that was only 2 plots out of 24.. and one of my epics had to be on grain so i didn't have to buy it. 4) Fair point, it just because a reason for me to leave because i didn't have time for daily play anymore (real life) so i was very much geared towards land play... that evaporated over 1 Christmas break. well the progress on it. thanks for the good feedback!

I am greatly consolidating into only needed cards to keep playing, mostly the souldbound stuff. Selling everything else off at a loss. Originally had 35 plots 4 rare totems and deck power over 800k. Only 2 plots left now and plan to keep only 1 plot. Everyone one in business should know that an entrepreneur is only good for the first 5 years or less in a start up, as competent management. Some of these 8 were redundant as you know. I think you have a point with team shifting focus away from land but i think holiday shifts in plan are not gonna be so drastic anymore due to many factors. The fact they ignored your software is not really a valid reason. I also disagree with the false claim that the problem was that soulbound cards were overprinted. That problem has nothing to do with soulbounds because they are still less printed than the pelacor ,venari era even though pelacor ,venari era lasted slightly shorter. And these that are printed now are not gonna be overprinted unless there is a big boom coming next year.
