Thank you for it like it is with Hermès. I will NEVER buy that brand ever! Even though I like some of their products, but don't really care for their bags I won't be bullied by a luxury retailer to play their games. I'm so glad to see a social influencer that's not got up with the whole Hermès propaganda. I've literally stopped watching KZbinrs that are constantly flaunting their Hermès bags! I agree with all of your points. Very well thought out! Love that you are practical with all of your purchases and consider the value and usability always. I especially like your point about jewelry. A simple design with a beautiful diamond can be done well by anyone, it definitely doesn’t have to be a design house that will overcharge.

You’re very practical! I agree with everything, except the reissue 😂 it’s grown on me, I think it’s a nice low key Chanel bag. Most people recognise the turn lock but I don’t think the same can be said about reissue. I’m unsure about the lack of structure but definitely digging the wrinkly leather!

I have over 30 Chanel bags and 2.55 reissues are my favorite. The classic flaps are nice but it's not very practical. I have all these classic flaps that just sit on the shelf, whereas the 2.55 travels with me everywhere. It's very versatile and fits a lot more than the classic flap. You can also dress up or down very easily with the 2.55. It also looks a bit more low-key. The mini reissue also fits a lot too. I love Rimowa as the luggage, but if you want the designer piece, just buy one as carry on and it will be just fine. I look at my purchase as things that are meant to be used, so there's no fear about wear and tear!

Thank you for your honest and respectful view on these items. You always do such a great job in that way. I fly 100k miles per year (not for work), and finally bought Briggs & Riley luggage. The best rolling luggage ever, with a compression system that really works. The best investment in this category, with a lifetime warranty! Also, I love my Reissue -- Coco's creation, classy, elegant. I like that it doesn't have the CCs. It's more of a Chanel bag that if you know, you know. It was made for packing, too! That's why it doesn't hold its shape -- you can flatten it and pack it! Yay!

Agree with all of these points. Thanks for being honest (yet respectful in the process). It feels like so many influencers these days just jump on the bandwagon and are focusing on keeping these fashion houses happy rather than their followers. On the luggage point, another con is that I have heard stories of designer luggage being targeted/stolen from the luggage belts at airports! Low key is definitely a safer option.

I agree 100% with all you said Amie. I didn’t like the reissue initially too, but I did get a mini in the end as the look of the particular leather do give it a more casual vibe. And this mini can actually be warm double chain in oppose to the classic minis ( square or rectangular). I enjoy it immensely as an everyday bag and as an evening bag

I always enjoy your videos! You seem to keep a pretty level head about luxury pieces. I totally agree with you about Hermès. Though they seem to be well made and can be very beautiful (the Kelly is definitely prettier than the Birkin), they are exorbitantly overpriced. I also don’t like the false exclusivity that they’ve created around their brand. I don’t want to be judged by some snobby S.A. before I’m allowed to make a purchase (not that Hermès will ever be in my budget). Chanel is very expensive, but I’ve been lucky enough to find a few beautiful bags on the preloved market in practically new condition! The Jumbo is also my favourite! I’m a huge fan of Tiffany & Co, though, particularly Elsa Perreti’s collection and the Please Return to Tiffany line. For a luxury brand, they are quite reasonable and my go-to shop has the friendliest SAs! Thanks for the great videos!

The love bracelet comes in many variations now! I believe they have one that has a hinge so it can be taken off more easily :) they also come in various thicknesses as well! Maybe time to give it a second look ;)

Of course, I love my Chanel bags and like you see no appeal in the Birkin or kelly. I just don’t like the look of either one and I would never spend the money you have to in order to be OFFERED a bag .

I bought and fell in love with a small re-issue! It was a complete impulse buy. I ordered a square mini over the phone but when I saw the color in person I didn’t like it at all. They brought out the re-issue and I fell in love. I literally slept with the bag next to my pillow. It is small so it is fairly structured. I do miss the double C’s but I also like that it is understated and casual. Since I already have the classic flap and the 19 I thought it would be fun to try something new. But then on the other hand very few people know how expensive it really is so I don’t really feel like I’m rocking the “it” bag. As for the luggage, I’ve always dreamed of the LV carryon. This way it would always be near me. I’m still loving that piece. 💜

Great video, although I differ about the Reissue. Mine doesn't have crinkly leather nor does it flatten (I guess because I carry a lot in it). I like that it's more malleable and lighter than the classic flap but the main reason I love it is because it's under-the-radar. I use it as an every-day bag and it's great for that. My "loud" CC bags make me feel a bit showy at times, and I've never used them for supermarket runs, etc... My Reissue however is beige and I'm not happy with the scuffs which seem to appear from nowhere!

Another issue with the luggage is the risk of it getting lost or stolen! Ive had luggage sent on earlier flights and it’s so stressful even with cheap luggage - I can image a luxury luggage piece would be much more of a target for theft

I know the store manager of a Hermès boutique in Germany. He told me the whole Hermès game is an urban legend, at least in Europe, and that you don’t need to buy any items to qualify for a Birkin or Kelly. I ordered my Kelly a couple of months ago without ever having purchased anything from the brand before. He told me it was probably going to be 2025/2026 until my bag arrives, but I’m ok with that😁 don’t believe the Hermès myths and just go and ask at your local Hermès store, chances are that you can simply order your dream bag :)

Not in Australia. No order, no waiting list, no nothing. Just have to keep going and ask them everyday. I really hate to keep bothering people so it's very off putting. You also can't get any SA's phone number or anything. So don't know how it would be even possible to see the same SA again. I was told I could call the store to check if specific SA was working and that was the only way. I was also told in person by multiple SAs at Hermes that you do need to keep going into the boutique shop often buy things on multiple occasions, buy from multiple category then I might get offered a bag. So I can assure that this is not a myth. I purposely for 9 month go into the boutique fee times each month spoken to 10+ different SA not including the online customer service. If I get a different SA I would ask them the same questions eg: what bags are available, if I can order or join any list. They all give me the same type of answers when I tell them I don't have a Hermes bag and I want to get my foot in. I said I was open to any color any small size bag. But yes. Nothing is ever available and they've never contacted me before. So yeah..

From my experience, the only difference from being a regular buyer in an Hermes store and not is that you will not be offered a handbag that they already have in house and is ready to sell. It’s all about instant gratification for a lot of people, which is why they purchase other Hermes items while waiting to be offered their dream bag in the color and hardware combination that they want. Also, you’re not paying the exorbitant markup in the pre-loved market.

I just want to mention, I have a medium beige Clair classic flap and a jumbo classic flap (both caviar). My very first flap bag was the reissue in 2011. It’s a black with rethinium hardware 224 (small) but kinda between the classic flap small and the mini. It has held up AMAZING!! I do not baby it at all! The wrinkly leather hides any imperfections and it doesn’t feel unstructured. It’s soft and flexible but not stiff. Just in case you were wondering about wear and tear…

I agree with almost all your picks except for the Cartier Love bracelet. The one thing I love about it is the fact that I can’t take it off. I’m terrible at keeping jewelry on..even my wedding band. Haven’t worn it for almost a year! If I can take it off…chances are, I won’t wear it. Hubby put on my Love bracelet 2 years ago, haven’t taken it off since.

If you ever come around to straight bangles, Roberto Coin has some lovely ones that are much easier to take on/off than the Cartier Love. I agree with your comments about the screwdriver mechanism being a bit of a deal-breaker - an easy on/off bracelet is important to me as someone who is scrubbing in/out of an operating room a lot. (An operating theatre on your side of the pond! 😄)

Hi Amie! I definitely agree with your picks. Luggage is a consumable item. It gets beaten up every time you travel. Also for handbags, they must be some what practical. When I try on a handbag, it must fit my essentials, if I can’t easily carry my essentials for the purpose of the bag, it doesn’t come home with me… no matter how gorgeous it is. Now, I think the only point I disagree, Tiffany diamonds, they are spectacular. I would love to upgrade my wedding ring with a Tiffany diamond… maybe some day 😋

I agree on all except for Hermes and branded jewelry. I love purchasing from Hermes, it’s different and a lot of fun. There’s a huge surprise element to it that makes it more exciting. And the quality is beyond amazing. I prefer branded jewelry from places like T&Co or Cartier because those companies have been around for so long and aren’t going anywhere, so I feel you get a lifetime of guaranteed service with the items, where as non-branded jewelry you are depending on a random business staying around which is a gamble! I’m not drawn to the Chanel Classic Flap bags. I’m one of the only people in the world who thinks they are unattractive-I know! It’s an unpopular opinion!!

You do know that gold is still gold and diamond is still diamond and the quality of it depends on carats, 4c’s and the labs that verify them and not on retailer, branded jewellery is definitely a facade. You can literally book a trip to Dubai and Some south Asian countries, spend weeks there and buy outstanding jewellery(not random shops, actually reliable/reputed showrooms) and it would still be cheaper than branded jewellery. However i do agree Tiffany’s &Cartier’s designs are beautiful and their service is great but they are charging you 10 fold for it.

I love the reissue so much it was the one and only bag still around coco actually designed for me it is the ultimate classic. Everyone buys the classic for the CCs or often they do but it wasn’t even designed by Coco. I find most of your long time Chanel lovers all have a reissue. The black with ghw is breathtaking

Amie, I always so appreciate your views as a pragmatic person who loves luxury, and is very careful and appreciative of her treasures. I agree on bags having to fit one’s lifestyle. That’s one of my issues with the Hermes quota bags. The closures for the Birkin and Kelly are so fussy and impractical that people have to leave the straps flapping open to make them workable. Optimal design is about function, as well as aesthetics, in my opinion. The Bastia knocks it out of the park in that respect. It’s pretty genius! Also, the Birkin 25 is cute, but I don’t reach for a top handle/wrist carry only when I have cross bodies and shoulder bags available. That’s why I have a beautiful, but very lonely Prada Galleria sitting on my shelf day after day. Warm regards to you and Dan!

The bigger one wasn’t appealing to me because of cost too, the juc I found a bit too loose and empty without something to pair. I found it a very good investment. Haha ouch we have vastly different tastes, but I appreciate your honesty! I totally agree on buying diamonds and classic/non design jewelry from independent jewelers vs. luxury brands. I hate the Hermes game, but love the quality of the brand. Especially the mini Kelly, Constance 18, and B25! I own an Hermes Constance 18 in alligator, and yes it is $$$$ and not for everyone, but to me its more like a piece of art. I tend not to buy any more trendy bags, even stopped buying Chanel due to the price increases which now match Hermes prices, but not quality imo.

I have a non branded tennis bracelet for the exact reason you mentioned. The only thing on your list I disagree with is the love bracelet. I love mine and I think it depends on if you are the type to wear your favorite jewelry pieces everyday. It's worth it in this case. But I really enjoyed hearing your points of view! 😊

I agree with you on exotic skins. Not only for ethical reasons, but the skins do creep me out as well! I used to have a pair of snakeskin Manolo flats, and I ended up selling them because it weirded me out having a snake on my foot. Especially the texture of the leather. However, I don’t think that Hermes should be completely blown off as a great brand. I have scarves belts and bracelets from them and they are just divine in terms of quality and beauty. They are gorgeous and timeless.

I completely agree with you on almost everything, especially about the snake/crocodile skin texture creeping my out and luggage being so unpractical. The only item I don't agree with you is about Chanel Reissue. I have both the jumbo classic flap and a 226 reissue and I find myself reaching for the reissue way more than the classic flap. I just love the understated but put together the reissue make me every time I wear it.

Enjoyed hearing your thoughts about each piece. Just my 2 cents... Most luxury luggages are carry on size and not check in, Which means you will have it with you in flight, no concerns about someone else handling it. I understand what you mean about mini bags being impractical, but that's the fun aspect of fashion. Mini bags are like little accessories, they are not functional they are just fun. Great for evenings or for styling along side another practical bag. I have a tiny chanel micro bag that I wear along with my medium classic flap and I love the look of it together. I have multiple other designer micro bags that are great for evenings and otherwise, since they do fit cards, keys and lipstick and I never really out my phone in the bag anyway, it's usually always in my hand, so it works out quite well.

I agree about Hermes. I have purchased some beautiful items the past few years, but not with any goal in mind of being offered the privilege of purchasing a quota bag. The items were things I really wanted; a belt, a couple of fashion bracelets, a silver bracelet and matching ring, etc. Nothing that would break the bank, but nice items that I loved for what they are. But being over 50, I am not that attracted to the “mature” look of most of their bags. 😊 (no offense to the majority of people that love these bags; most of you are younger and no bag can male you look older). My favorite bags are the Chanel mini, the Chanel Coco Handle, and my latest bag is a Prada re-edition. But I certainly admire the beauty and quality of those Hermes bags, and every once in awhile I think I want one, but I chalk that up to the excitement I see in the people doing unboxings on KZbin. But then I think about the “Hermes journey” and I am OUT.

depends on the luggage and what is considerate luxury. id consider Rimowa to be really nice luggage and worth the investment. I know my Dad has had his for over 20 years now. they are so durable and the repair service they offer it first class

Agree with you completely, Kelly over birkin (tho I did hv a B25 which I’m lucky enough to not buy anything to score it), micro bag ?! (Rolling my eyes to the back of my head lol anything that can’t fit in my phone is instant no), designer luggage for use in airport is almost over 90% to get opened and hv accident, Cartier love : difficult to put on and off and too simple design for such inconvenience

I appreciate your transparency with the H game. There are very few people that talk about it. I don’t want to buy a bunch of stuff that I’m only mildly interested in just to get a B. In the end that B could “cost” you $75k. PS their non quota bags do not interest me either. The GP is nice but that’s the only one I like.

That depends where you live. I bought a B without any shopping history at the Lisbon store. And years later a K. In between what I bought was in the website. But I agree with you. I would never spend my hard earned money in items that I don't want in the expectation of getting a B or a K

I’m surprised by how many things on your list are the same as my own. The only thing is I’m not really a Chanel girl at all & everything you said you didn’t like about the 2.55 (reissue), is the reason why I’d prefer it over the classic flap. I personally don’t mind Hermes’ games (that’s just how it is), but I don’t care if I never own a quota bag either, I really only like the Garden Party 30 (but never say never re. Birkin or Constance 18), so it’s not that big of a deal to me.

I totally agree with all your choices. Definitely no for luxury luggage unless i have a private jet. lol. I see the way they throw it, can''t imagine the luxury one and even for hand carry, i don't like to leave it under the seat when take off. The Love bracelet is also very common in the local jewelry nowadays. Ok perhaps not the one with diamond but the one without. i saw some similarity and with much lesser and so much more gold. However i do love the JUC too and love those that is easy to remove. Many called it Hermes journey...or what ever it is. is really force to the throat for one to be qualified and even i heard a KZbinrs being told off by her SA when she asked to see those special order''s material and after purchasing 2 handbags from him. Yes, Chanel is straight forward at least if they have the handbag they will sell.

I've thought about it! But I love my current carryon pieces so much that I find it difficult to justify. They're pretty inexpensive - a Longchamp expandable tote and a Horizon cabin case but they do the job so well that I never see the need haha. Maybe I just don't *love* fancy luggage enough 😂
