Beach Hut Man has always smelled to me, like the name suggests. I envisioned a beach hut, on an island, made of huge banana tree leaves. That's all I got from that fragrance and I love it.

Performance is a factor but shouldnt have more weight than the scent itself. I recognize choosing between scents that are similar or clones (e.g. aventus, hacivat and CDNIM), price and performance would be the main determinants only because the smell itself has already been considered. As such, i understand why performance is a consideration but will never be more important than scent iself. I have wetstone and akdeniz. I find the former a little challenging for a freshie but it is indeed a beautiful scent with awesome performance. As for akdeniz, ive yet to wear my bottle which you influenced me to try but im sure it will be unique as your freshie recommendations are hardly ever boring or redundant. I have to admit KENZO surprised me for being part of the list but its a nice list JC.

Yes!, 1861 Renaissance in 1st. I discovered it last year when I was getting some samples from Fragrance Samples UK. I hadn’t seen any KZbin reviews, but I read the description and thought I’d like it. I enjoyed it so much that I got a full bottle It’s predominantly lemon, but it definitely does have a creaminess. If you can imagine a lemon cream biscuit.. that’s what this smells like. The longevity is indeed great for a citrus fragrance, very impressive. The packaging is superb as well. It’s good value also, it’s significantly less than Creed’s for example.

Frederic Malle = 🐐 Not for beginner noses for sure, and they’re usually more about the drydown than the opening so you gotta spend time with them rather than judge them at first sniff, but man... what a collection. 👍🏻 (Well, except Outrageous. Justin the need for beast mode is reflection of the modern day that never ends. When you leave home at 6:30am and don’t get back home until 7pm-8pm it’s a struggle to slay for that many hours without re-spraying

Specially like the allusion to concerns about my fragrance being BIG enough and being able to perform long enough...😂 I can understand that people like their scent to last. But that beast mode thing is a bit much sometimes...interesting sounding picks as always. Don't know many of them - except for MFK and Renaissance. I discovered the "Eaux" by Patricia Nicolai for me (Eau mixte, Yuzu and été; also Neroli intense). For me they are pleasant, interesting and natural for spring and summer. Performance has to take the back seat...

Great review. Aoud Lemon Mint has been a stable in my vacation fragrances for a couple of years now but i decided this year to add to my rotation of fragrance I take on vacation. Last week my Xerjoff 1861 Renaissance arrived and all I can say is WOW.!! This juice is amazing. Next week I head back to Dominican Republic and believe me, Renaissance will be coming along. I like most of those and I have a few. I also like PDM Sedley. Very fresh and invigorating…But don’t sleep on it. It has a hellova kick. Found out the hard way by overspraying. I was in a rush and didn’t realize my body heat was amped and this stuff seems to have ambroxin. Kicked everyone away from me. I’ll never do that again. But sprayed lightly… it’s wonderful. But which would you choose between BHM and MFK GFS?

It's finally warming up in the Midwest this was the first morning I had relatively free since the weather broke and I put on L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Sport... Which doesn't project longer than two hours But in the warm weather I rarely want something that lasts all day, I'm in and out Something to wear while I'm at the coffee shop for a few that's light when I go to the gym then shower put on something that's good for when I run errands then finally something for whatever I do in the evening/night... That's the fun of warm weather scents to me, the lack of commitment for the entire day for the majority of the fragrances in this group

Love it! GFS and Beach Hut Man are just awesome. Wet stone, Akdeniz, Kenzo and 1861 sounds interesting. I think I tried Wall Street decades ago but didn't think much of it. As for Mancera, I've not smelled Aoud Lemon Mint, but most perfumes by the brand give a feel of an incomplete formulation (as if there is a missing ingredient or two), not sure how to describe it other than that. I haven't smelled Lineage yet, but fenugreek scares me when incorporated in perfumes. It is a spice used in some cuisines, but to my nose it has a funky stink that is too cloying and too overpowering. Definitely not fresh.

Reformulation pisses me off and it should. It’s a bait and switch marketing strategy and it’s an under handed way of robbing the consumer. Not to mention it compromises the artistic value and legacy of an otherwise masterpiece.

There are governing bodies that dictate the ingredients that most perfume brands are allowed to use, and their regulations are ALWAYS changing to new known allergies and other reactions. I'm sorry, but I think 7 - 8 hrs is reasonable to want in a fragrance. Especially if it's one that we're spending top dollar on. I won't expect that from a $20 fragrance, but yes, I demand that if I'm spending $80 plus. Imagine paying $100K or above for a vehicle and you get a donkey cart. And someone says "hey, it will still get you from point A to point B"... Nah man.
