In the early 2010s, an ex NK special force soldier escaped to China (he was sent to labor camp because one of his family member defected, but he managed to sneak out and escape to China). In China, he was arrested by the police after injuring a Chinese man when trying to steal food. He was sent to prison. Fast forward to the 2020s (don't remember the exact year), his sentence was about to finish. He knew that he'd be deported back to NK after he gets out of prison, so he escaped, again(master of jailbreak). Unfortunately, he was soon re-arrested by the Chinese police. Fortunately, he got a few more years for escaping, so at least he's fed and clothed in Chinese prison....

This video is full of prejudice against China. In fact, most people who leave North Korea leave through China. The border between China and North Korea is already inhabited by ethnic minorities who also speak Korean and will help their North Korean compatriots. Secondly, the Chinese and general officials actually have sympathy for North Koreans and acquiesce to their departure. As long as North Korean defectors do not publicly identify themselves in places such as the North Korean embassy, they can generally leave safely.

Laos you just go through the jungle to get to Thailand, because Laos sends you back to N.K. Vietnam is the same I'm pretty sure. You could just make motions and they would eventually figure out what you're trying to do, you don't want to be known as North Korean in China

You just do ur best with universal behavior and gestures. Point ur index finger to say “one”, point at urself for “me”/“I”, praying hands pressed on the side on the side of ur head for “sleep/tired”, etc etc.

MountainPieEnjoyer true, I think Thailand is prob the most ideal SE Asian country cuz that country doesn’t deport NKs back and im pretty sure instead lets them visit the SK embassy in Bangkok

Difference is that in places like Thailand if you are found out they deport you to South Korea
