@@JoreelDrill some speed holes in the front. But in all seriousness, the front of the case isn't really an issue since it's really acting as the bottom. The single PSU fan isn't being choked too hard there. The issue is the PSU exhaust being dumped out the same place the CPU fan is getting it's intake from. It honestly makes more sense to just exhaust fully from the top (by placing an exhaust fan there) and using the rear and bottom fans as intake. In this setup, it wouldn't be nearly as bad as it is.

@Kromaatikse Жыл бұрын
@@sweer7048 I think the Wraith Stealth would have been adequate in a better ventilated case, or without a GPU pumping hot air all over the place. It's a slightly marginal heatsink for a 65W TDP, which is what the 5600X makes, and thus you need to give it a fighting chance by feeding it reasonably cool air. So that makes a third component choice that PowerSpec could have made to avoid the problem: a GPU with a blower (exhausting outside the case) instead of a dual-fan type (exhausting inside). There's also a whole bunch of inexpensive heatsinks on the market, both tower-style and downdraft, with thermal capacity in about the 100W region. This would likely allow handling a 65W load in this warmer environment, especially if the fan curves were set to "Standard" or "Performance" instead of "Silent". Ultimately, there's nothing *catastrophically* wrong with this machine, which already sets it above some prebuilts costing five times as much. There's just a couple of key oversights.

I had this exact prebuilt model (except with an EVGA 3060) come in to my shop a week ago. It was well used I think the owner had it for around 9 months. The ASRock motherboard had died so I replaced it with a new one. I also (after okaying it with the owner) took the top and side air filters off and routed the PSU cables behind the back panel to free up some airflow in the case. All of the PSU cables were flat so it was easier to route behind. The stock cooler still could only keep the CPU at 45c at idle. I suspect the lack of airflow contributed to the motherboard's demise. I recommended getting a third 120mm fan to put on top to help with airflow once I sent it home. All the case panels besides the bottom one were bent in some way as well.

Starforge would be interesting to see you review. BTW the other problem is "pretty" over practical. Having glass side panel is not the best in that form factor but rear intake and a slow top exhaust would have helped thermals a lot. with proper fan curves. Although using the mesh panel with a side mounted intake pushing air directly to the cpu intake fan works wonders and you can still achieve a nice rgb glow with strips. ( I have tested these) nr200p is fantastic for these but i like how this one uses a standard atx psu. Even the jonsbo d40 does this extremely well with a full atx build, but again need an optional mesh side panel(nr200p) or rear cpu intake to equal thermals to that of an meshify c. There is so many things companies can do and just won't and it's so annoying.

At the MC in Indy they had essentially the same system, but with a 5600x3d and a 6650XT for 699. It’s a grand opening sale. If you’re anywhere close to Indy and you want a prebuilt, it seems like you can’t beat that price.

The case for this build is made by Lian Li. Microcenter offers the case as a standalone product with or without a PSU. The thermals are a lot better with slim fans and you can replace the 80mm with a 92mm. Also, the case comes with a tempered glass panel or a mesh panel so you get to choose. Also, there is a way to mount an AIO in there. Overall, the case would proforma better with a different configuration.

This case is awesome for people who want compact builds, but don't want to pay the ITX tax. I have the version of this case with the "mesh" side panel, and it's great. It's sold as a Tecware Fusion/Sama Quzao or IM01/Others.

I was gonna say! It's great to see a review from Gamers Nexus where this case is in the build. Although I'd prefer a review of the case separately or just a Live stream build. I would have liked to see how it would perform if you had added an intake fan at the top while keeping the wraith cooler, like you suggested toward the beginning of the video.
@KaGe4twenty Жыл бұрын
So i did exactly that. I put a intake fan on the top and tested that. Temps stayed in the 90s under heavy load. So i swapped the stock cooler with a be quiet tower cooler and got the temps down to normal temp levels. And i flipped the the top fan I installed from intake to exhaust. Now the whole case is cool too the touch with all the hot air being pushed up of the top and rear.

I was pretty happy to see that GN reviewed this PC :) I actually own the G511, which is basically the same PC as the G513, with the main difference being 16gb of 2666mhz of RAM and a 500gb NVME SSD instead of 3200mhz and 1tb. I’ve had no major issues with the PC, although it does feel kinda hot when I touch the case while playing games. Other than that, I love the small size, and it works for all my browsing and just about anything I need it for :D P.S.: Thanks for showing me that there was a new BIOS update too :P
@TheUnchosenOne Жыл бұрын
You definitely should try flipping one case fan to the top and also flip the power supply sometime, the thermals & performance will improve. A tower cooler would be a good investment too, because the 5600x has enough juice to drive you through several gpu upgrades before you will want to trade it out. I use one with a 3080 in my machine and it works great!

The Sama IM01 & IM02 are fantastic cases. You basically get nearly SFF but with none of the added cost of SFF. The case is cheap compared to most SFF options, and you can use cheaper ATX PSUs and mATX boards instead of SFX and ITX.

Been to a few laboratories/testing facilities in my country where they test out ventilation products with colored smoke to see how thei distribute air etc.

Hey Steve, Im sure you see a lot of ppl asking in the comments to test different stock fan configs and you also talked about orienting the psu differently as well. I too was hoping to see you reconfigure the stock items or even removing the secondary dust filters on the case panels to find out what the lowest thermal you could get with just the items in the box. Please consider.

My brother had a very similar prebuilt with a 9600KF and RTX 2060, also a PowerSpec. Served him well for years as a photographer editing things. We put a 13700K and A770 16GB in there this year with twice the original RAM and storage since he's getting into video work and animation. Deeplink is actually super useful for him with that iGPU. His case is very similar, with the big mesh side panel. We took a knee mill to it and converted all of the holes into vertical slots and replaced the filter material with window screen to catch some of the cat hair in his place.

I started with an HP omen this year, and I'm surprised nobody has reviewed one recently. It checks alot of the boxes that channels critique on. The thermals and case were good. The hardware was all hp or cooler master besides the drives, and nothing was proprietary. It was reasonably priced. The bios wasn't overly restrictive, and more. It had a 12700 and 3070 and cost me ~$1100 right under a year ago. There's some less than ideal stuff too but it can be easily taken care of if it's an issue to the end user. The CPU is effectively the only original part I still use, but it was just me wanting to upgrade everything, haha. I could also list all of the cons if anyone is really interested.

Three things: 1) My first and only PowerSpec system was actually one of the Intel NUCs that I bought for $280 open box. STILL works like a charm! It's not particularly fast, but for being a dumb web server and now it has a new life as my father-in-law's system to browse Facebook and check his email with -- it works. (And it's VASTLY easier to clean than the tower that I originally gave him as a hand-me-down.) (Also sucks back less power as well, so overall, I'm very happy with it.) 2) For a mATX build, this actually LOOKS decent. I like the size and the form factor given that my tiny human's computer right now is an 8th gen NUC with a Razer Core X eGPU case (which is 14.4 L plus I think 0.7 L for the NUC itself. Something like that.) vs. the 21 L of this mATX build. It's small enough. 3) If a part of the solution to this thermal management problem is to just swap out the CPU cooler with a $20 tower cooler, that's easily doable.

I think one of this things I really, really appreciate about this style of pre-built (not just PowerSpec) is that they actually use standard components with standard layouts and connectors. So, if the CPU cooler sucks, you can replace it with an AM5 compatible cooler. If the case is trash, you can buy a different one and move all the components into it. Sure, you shouldn't HAVE to do any of that, but sometimes you just can't afford everything you want all at once, and with a build using standard retail parts you can at least be confident that you can upgrade individual pieces down the road. I would contrast this with an HP pre-built I bought for one of my kids a few years back. It was an AMD system with a Radeon r580 in it. The front-panel I/O was built into the motherboard PCB on a piece of the board that jutted out several inches to make it to the front of the case. This made both the Motherboard and case impossible to re-use with retail parts. I also couldn't upgrade or re-use the power supply since it used a proprietary set of cables including, for reasons I still don't understand, putting the fan controller for the PSU fan on the motherboard so you had to plug a signal cable from the PSU into the MoBo or the fan would spin at 100% all the time! Technically I could have upgraded the CPU cooler, but even though it was an AMD CPU, the hole spacing for the cooler was the Intel standard...and it screwed directly into the back of the case instead of a backplate. I did manage to salvage the GPU, but since it was a single-fan RX580, it was a wee bit thermally constrained. Whatever faults this pre-built has, I do appreciate that they can actually be fixed by the end user thanks to actually using standard parts and connectors. That doesn't excuse shipping a product that throttles hard, but it does put it a step up against a lot of the big OEM's and their everything-is-proprietary boxes.

So much "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed" energy in this video. It was so close! Sad that out of all the prebuilt reviews I've watched so far I think this is the one that was the most positive (I haven't watched all the old ones yet and I just recently found this channel, but I've seen an Alienware and Origin one). But honestly this makes me mostly happy because at least beyond the one core flaw, which would be easily fixable and I could actually see the company fixing something like this, it's a reasonable purchase. You're not wasting your money on anything (except the cheap cpu cooler), unlike almost every high-end prebuilt review I've seen on this channel and others.

I have a video suggestion for the GN team: obscure motherboard settings breakdown and explanations video. Take a few different boards with different chipsets on AMD/Intel, and compare feature parity/explain what the hell everything does. I've been building computers since the late 90s, and to this day I've never understood it all myself. A great example in this video was @ 22:52 when you referenced "Above 4G Decoding". What are the conditions where I'd even want to disable this setting, etc? What the heck is "SR-IOV", and what are the functional use cases someone would have to enable/disable it? Will enabling it and not utilizing its Virtualization features possibly introduce system instability, etc? Experience has taught me to just turn off "Bells and Whistles" I don't have a use case for, but that approach limits opportunities for learning. Maybe it's a good place I could get some growth?! Anyway just an idea - thanks for another great video on pre-builts. I don't often consider them even as recommendations to others, but it's a great reminder of why I build all this stuff myself. Best of luck in 2023 and beyond!
