I am immensely grateful that I got to experience Loren Maazel and the Vienna Philharmonic live in southern California back in March, 2014. He filled in on short notice for Daniele Gatti and played a beautiful program of Schubert and Mahler. Sadly, Maestro Maazel would pass only four months later. I have learned so much from this wonderful video. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Outstanding conductor. I heard him in Caracas in the 90th decade with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. I remembered Brahms 3 Sym and Ravel Bolero. RIP, maestro 🙏

Surprised that A) The newsreel video of Maazel conducting at the Grant Park music shell as a kid is not included and B) That video seems to be erased from the internet!

Its absurd to say his way of making music was elegant, elastic and colourful. Period. It was extremely professional, eficient, solid, and also heavy and dry. But people know nothing about music.....

Beside the amazing memory he's not exactly my cup of tea as a conductor
