Usually people find yo-yos boring because they either don’t practice or don’t have a yo-yo that can match their handling style. The 2 yo-yos that I normally use are the Duncan Hornet and the Duncan Pro Z. Also great video!

My yoyo memory is being just on the tale end of the craze when they were peaking in price, and thinking that good yoyos were 100$+. The mall kiosks were for yoyos. And the “older cool kids” all seemed to have expensive ones. It was a very short fad, soon after replaced with cellphones and accessories, the mall kiosks becoming cellular bling, with light up keypads and antennas that flashed for alerts. Those were the days.

I also remember that a representative of Duncan would come into our school and do crazy tricks, that’s what really kicked them off as I remember it. Nobody really had them and as soon as the third assembly for Duncan yo yos everyone had a Duncan, a yomega(I had that red x brain and a Duncan Phoenix I believe it was called, the best yo yo I had was from a hobby shop. They had a huge wall of yo yo parts and you would build your own and you could really trick them out. The one I made had the auto sleeper pin, a similar thing to the x Brain on one side with way way heavier ball bearings in the x brain part. The other side would light up and strobe when you hit a sleeper or walk the dog or cradle. It also had a bunch of other features from small parts you could add to the yo yo and it would make certain tricks way way easier to pull off. I remember the day our school banned the steel stallions or silver bullets I cant remember what they were called they had a couple different ones that were all steel or aluminum. Kids would use them as weapons or hurt themselves. I can remember the school bully brought it to school and he would be like “hey check out this sleeper it’s way faster than yours you built, then he would snap it back up so it would hit you in the head. He got me really bad and I ended up getting nerve headaches for a very long time after that.(he was jealous because it was quite pricy to build them. Mine I made was very intricate and made it look like I was a yo yo master which I wasn’t the part just made it easier to pull off tricks with a little practice I couldn’t do any of the tricks with my yomega xbrain or Duncan. Also the one I built costed $120 back then. I worked my ass off all summer so I could go to school with it) I remember getting that one I built taken away because I would still sneak it in and play with them and I clearly remember them slowly being replaced by those fighter virtual pets, the digimon and tomigotchi, I had two of each my favorite were the digimon and the fighters. I can’t remember what the fighters were called but I had a sumo wrestler and a karate guy that would do what looked like jujitsu now that I think about it. Also the digimon too the first wave if I remember correctly was kind of like tomogotchi in that there were several different digimon you could end up with..
