There was genuinely a Scottish prince from around the right era named Arthur, Tony Robinson did an episode - not sure if it was Time Team or not - on him but there were several other contenders who weren't real characters. Seems to be largely due to one Geoffrey Chaucer (and someone else who's name I can't remember off the top of my head) that he became the legend of today.

Being a rather timorous child, I would love to see you make a collection of TV that scared us to this day. I can start you off with 1) The boy from space, from the series "Look and read" which was shown in our school by rolling out a TV into the assembly hall. 2) "The changes" that made me scared to say "Merlin" and instead insisted to whatever was in my bedroom that I said Mervyn, as in Mervyn Day, the West Ham goal keeper at the time. (Sharing this for the first time on the internet, what could possibly go wrong)? and 3) The public information films such as "The spirit of dark and lonely water", and the boy getting electrocuted trying to retrieve his frisbee from an electrical substation. Nevertheless, I would like to to thank you for these uploads. Thank you.

We on had one tele when I was a kid and I was always outvoted when it came Animal Kwackers, which I hated. I loved Ask Aspel. I remember when Peter Cushing was on. He did do some kids films, which is why he was probably a guest. He was in in the Amicus Doctor Who movies, and he was also in At the earth's core (1976) and Star Wars (1977) Black Beauty was another of my favourites. I remember that segment well. The Cushings were a true love match, and when cancer took Helen in1970,Peter three himself into his work, taking every script offered, which led to his appearances in several decidedly inferior films. He resuscitated his career somewhat with his appearance in:Star Wars" in 1977. Why he wasn't knighted is a mystery to me.👍

How about "Aeronauts" ?? I think that was about 1970/71, could be wrong. I vaguely remembered "Animal Kwackers" but I think my mind has tried to erase it. Oliver Tobias was gorgeous in "Arthur of the Britons". "Armchair Thriller" was scary as hell !! I remember John Cleese being interviewed on "Ask Aspel", he looked a bit awkward! Johnny Morris had a lovely voice on "Animal Magic". I think he did some voice-overs on adverts later.

I’ve just re-read my Aeronauts annual! (1973). It was a French series originally called ‘Les Chevalliers des Ciel’ (Knights of the air - please forgive spelling). The BBC re-dubbed it into English but these redubs were subsequently wiped and lost. It had a very limited DVD release in France a few years ago and episodes can be found here on KZbin. Both of these are of course in French with no English subtitles.

I remember Jemima Shore (a great series both on telly and the books) but don't think Armchair Thriller made it to NZ Arthur of the Britons is another series I've never forgotten despite only ever seeing a few episodes - post 1977 when we got our telly and I suspect it was largely on before I came in from school. Wasn't there a friend with the name Kai in it, that character and Oliver Tobias are the only ones I really remember but looking at your shorts I know so many of the faces that appear. Better still both seasons are on KZbin and guess what I'm watching next. Thank you for this one especially, the characters stuck but I couldn't remember the name. Are You Being Served was also on in NZ, my daughter still loves the series and has them all on DVD Remember All Creatures Great and Small, the original that is, though I didn't really watch it. I'd found the books long before and always preferred the originals to versions on the telly. Same with Heartbeat, the books are better than the series. I don't remember Black Beauty - though I know the theme music - but I do remember Follyfoot Farm (I think it was called). I've never been a huge fan of animal series including Lassie, Skippy and some US show which featured a dolphin from memory (all seen occasionally either on holiday or at a friend's house after school).

I don't remember Armchair Thriller from the opening titles but I certainly remember the nun with no face episode. That was very memorable and scary as a little lad. I have a vague recollection of another scary show with a completely different opening sequence that I always thought the nun episode was from. It had really spooky organ music. A stark white background and a creepy, Victorian doll falling and I think eventually smashing on the floor. I always found it really scary. Especially the music. Anybody else remember it or did I dream it all up?

I remember a lot of these. This is off topic, but does anyone else remember an 80s TV show called Anything Goes? All that comes up on Google is the Cole Porter show or a TV programme with Keith Chegwin, not what I remember. The one I mean was from around 87/88, and was about different places to visit in the UK, featuring a different place each week. One of the places featured was Chester. I think possibly Martin Roberts was one of the hosts. Can't believe nothing comes up on Google, I definitely didn't dream it up! Anyone else remember it?

I’ve watched so many 70s/80s intro vids but haven’t come across it. It goes… Doop doobey-doobey doo doo - Doop doobey-doobey doo doo - Doo-do be doo-do be do-do be-doo doobey-dooooo! Repeat.
