This mansion should be opened by the French Govt as a neo-baroque museum. What beautiful antiques! Beautiful wall paper! Glorious draperies. I'm speechless! Did want to tell your guys about the little eyeglasses. They were for reading and would sit at the end of the nose. You'll find out about that in about 20 years. Thank you and do be careful.

Guys, that bed in a closet seems to be an early version (idea) of a Murphy bed; an extra bed for when your cousin or friend came over and spent the night. - Most times the bed stayed hidden, but doors were kept wide open when visitors slept there.

This is the fourth time watching, words cannot express the beast of this decaying mansion. Frame 24:17 definitely my favorite room, that Asian design fireplace is quite unique, this had to have been imported, including that table that you admired. Loved that sofa and everything about this place. Those window curtains. My kind of abandoned places, I would be there for hours...might stay over night if not spotted by the locals. Thank you both for an unforgettable journey. To Remon, happy to see you up and about exploring again. With love💕 from America. 😁 🇺🇸

@Explomo, I’m glad that I’m not the only person that watches my favorite videos multiple times. With one of the videos that the guys explored a castle that was fully intact, I’ve watched about five or six times. It was titled Disney Castle, I think. There’s another castle video that I’ve also watched several times. The only videos that I didn’t like are the ones that are crammed full of trash and/or are very vandalized. What a beautiful room, the one where a feather duster was found. Gorgeous! Annie USA

This house is amazing. It appears to have been built in the time of Napolean III. The bed in the attic, the fall front desk and the other items made of mahogany are probably part of the original furnishings. The bulk of the furniture, draperies wallpapers etc. date to a remodel of about 1885. If you had taken the drawers out of the fall front desk you undoubtedly would have found hidden compartments. The bed in the attic is in what was the servants quarters. It was common for servants to get the old furniture when a house was remodeled. The structure of the beams in the attic, the wine cellar and the carved musical items. Date this home to at least 1790-1800. People having lived with the remodel of the 1880s to the time it was abandoned is crazy. The glass domes scattered around the house used to cover clocks. They actually are often more valuable than the clocks they once held as fewer of them survive. I think the house as been semi looted as I can't figure why someone would take the clocks and not the domes. P.S. I noticed a lot of green in the wallpapers and fabrics. Its toxic. These shades of green were made of a dye made of arsenic and copper. Thanks guys- great find.

I do believe that this is one of the OLDEST homes with practically everything in place. So many antiques, living space, portraits directed to at least the 1600s. Alot of the priceless items really need to be in a museum. I agree with many comments that this home is one of the oldest that I've seen! GREAT explore, you both are tops in my book!!!! Indeed, France has some of the oldest mansions that are being explored. Just think, during WW2 or WW1 our troops could have walked by this home with perhaps the folks of this residence waved their thankfulness. Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall?

Yes there is an antique I believe dated to 1645 or 54 and that would mean the house is 1600s style. Back then they had a bronze age, which, as you can tell they had a lot of it.

@@SAVAGEMODE333 So the house is from 1600s because of a few items from that time? Is it not possible the house is merely decorated with antiques, seems far more likely given the large number of mod-cons.

Hi Guys. The Brass Top table @25:30 with the intricate wooden base looks like a very nice, older (19th Century?) Moroccan folding table. They still make them today, and they are both ornately beautiful and easily portable if you need a temporary table on a porch or Garden party. This has to be one of my Favorite Abandoned Mansions! Looks like the more recent owners might have been in the Antiques Business. Also the Bedroom Desk @37:30 and other matching Pieces have very lovely Burl Wood walnut? Veneer which is a thin layer of especially decorative wood, typically applied with right and left matching patterns (you can see the midline seam). Burl wood is a kind of deformed bulge in the tree roots or trunk but produces many interesting curls and patterns- very sought after and very expensive even today (not all veneer is burl wood). I'm surprised the mold has not made the veneer peel off- as it often interacts with the glue used and also the thin wood. Going to guess that secretary/desk and matching chest are what is called 19th Century French Louis Philippe Style- no expert though. That is a wonderful staircase too!! Thanks for the great Eye Candy and for being so respectful! What a magnificent Mansion!!

Hi guys, at 15:45 the little stool by the chair is called a "Footstool". The purpose of the rings in the box is they are curtain rings to hang curtains up on a pole. With the 1899 paper, the women had very small waists back then because they wore an item of clothing called a "Corset" and you would tighten the laces at the back which made the waist smaller. I really loved all of the different curtains and the old family pictures. Thank you for sharing this very unique place trapped in the past, much love. xx💖🤘
@Yaharalady

In fact the corsets were tightened to much, to create a “wasp waist” that women had rib and organ injuries from the compression. It also caused them to faint easily.

I love your explorations, tyvm. You boys also make me laugh sometimes, especially guessing what things were used for - and things that men don't know a lot about, LOL. The box of RINGS you found, and thought they might be used for a game? They're curtain rings! The curtains are stitched to the rings, and then the rings go on the curtain rods so they can easily slide back and forth. I hope that helps : ) Oh, and the board game is called 'Chess' ...not "Chest". I'm not picking you, just trying to be helpful, as I don't think English is your first language - but you are very good at it! Keep up the good work.

My grandmother from 1900s taught us all to make yarn, then thread as she was taught. If you can learn to weave on a loom you can then make the fabric, weave in gold threads, stitch in gold threads, attaché the silk threads and make fancy curtains. French people were known for not only fashion but a special kind of stitch with precious gems sewn on or into garments, chairs in such as Christian Dior is known... couture is still very pricey as sought after. If they did this, you will find the special needles, hoops for this appliqué.

One of the best houses yet. It is exquisite; the wall paper, the furniture, all the antiques, the design, curtains, old photos, loved all of it. I have been meaning to write for sometime to enlighten you on a few things. You have to take in context the history of each house; meaning the time in was built and inhabited. If these houses of the were built in the 1600's through 1800's or even early 1990's . They were heated by wood or coal, and candles/lanterns were used for light and as time passed were later retro fitted for gas and electric. I have heard you inquire on other videos whether the inhabitants used all those lamps/lanterns. Yes, they did, It was all they had. Ok, all the taxidermy you see in the old mansions was a fad for a time. Caged birds were a fad. So, having a house full of animal taxidermy does not necessarily mean the home owner was a big hunter. Although hunting was still very popular. It merely means the house was fashionably decorated. And yes, all the clothes were made by hand and little treadle sewing machines, until they got electricity. Great video! Fabulous house. I will watch this one over and over.

Hi there, my dear Dutch friends, It's always an absolute highlight, when Explomo is uploading a new video! - And - what shall I say? - I am nearly speechless about this abandoned mansion of curtains with all these really old and probably quite valuable antiques. - A real gem, you found in France! - Unfortunately I couldn't participate in your lifestream, because I was exactly at that moment at my eye doctors practise for the second post-op. examination. - This whole house had a very special historical vibe and was even a bit creepy looking. Wonderful, walking in mind with you through these amazingly intact rooms with the beautiful furniture. - Especially the main room had quite a "fin-de-siècle" touch due to these elegant and quite theatrical looking curtains. - I of course loved the beautiful piano. - I would say, that a lot of items/ artefacts are from the neo-baroque and neo renaissance period, so that is actually the period of the turn 19.th/ 20th century. Under these empty glass domes on the different chimney mantlepieces were probably clocks. - A really very museal location, which should be preserved! - Wonderful explore, dear friends, which I enjoyed watching! - Lovely to see Remon again! - Peace and blessings. - Kindest regards.

That was so filthy sure no one had really lived in it for 100 years. What I don’t understand is the mess. If you just desert a place it would surely be habitable. Another great video! I love going on tours with you two great responsible and respectful young men! The wires you refer to is a bundle of raw FLAX. This is a flax spinning wheel likely around 1800s age. That flax would be spun into yarn to make clothing. Turning off the water and draining lines prevents pipe breaks during winter freezes so its vital for most homes unless its tropical weather. WE had to leave our solid wood home vacant (its like a lodge inside with wood beams etc) for 7 years to educate our sons out of state. We went back yearly to shave down the yard and vegetation. It suffered no damage or mold on any of the walls. We had only cobwebs and dust. One floor issue is on the one side of the main floor which is just some replacement wood.. Someone did break in and there was alot of theft outside the home mainly. We did also have a rodent issue for a short time which we handled. We moved back and have fixed up our home inside a lot. Wow this looks like it was vacant for decades!

As an American, this is exactly what I invision when I think French. Exquisite!! She definitely did something with wool, yet there wasn't any woolens that I could see. Perhaps she spun it for someone else. Glad to see you both together on this explore.

This must have been a most elegant home. the little machines must have been for specialized sewing like adding trim. The front room downstairs would have been called a parlor and the little area for the chapel is an alcove. Thank you for an intriguing explore.

Someone else may have mentioned it but those copper looking plates with holes you found in the cupboard in the beginning look to me to be bedwarmer tops. The oldest ones could have the tops removed completely and replaced with different designs. I'm not positive of course. It would take closer inspection but it appears that way to me. Great video! I love the way you respect the properties! I get a great feeling from you! 🥰

Alot of the old ornate wall papers had lead in them, so always wear those masks guys! The closet bedroom was for a child of a younger age that needed to sleep in the same room as the parent most likely or if the room had a child, a friend could sleep there with the doors open. The papers showing women dresses were made that small waisted because they were still wearing corsets that cinched in their waists in those times. These had whale bones in them back then likely and laces were tightened to get them to have the smallest waists they could have. It often caused fainting and shortness of breath. The broken vase is Egyptian I believe from those designs and possibly quite valuable as most broken vases are not kept. Those little wood round items in that little container with the numbers were lids to wood tubes that held the old sewing needles for the tiny Treadle Sewing machine in her sewing room. The curtains are a woven fabric and there is no loom to weave on that I saw. This means they did not make the curtains fabric but she might have sewn them from imported expensive fabric or fabric made by a local weaver. The yarn from the spinning wheels would have been made into socks, scarves, sweaters and such. It takes very tiny yarn which I have spun but its a technique that is tricky...then you must have a huge loom to weave curtains.

I love watching you, just happened to be out when this premered. I have a problem with the adds. normally I watch them because I can not support as a patron. The adds are forever and the bracelet add as on for a long time and would be the reason for our being able to join in....Still I watch them because I know you get paid. Just wish they didn't take so long.

The rings where from draperies . And the ladies fashion magazine from 1899's they wore whale bone corsets and would tighten them so tight they damaged their rib cages to have a small waste.I love those glass domes! One of my favorites guys. I would be there for hours just looking at everything.

9:01 The "wires" that you said were so dirty on the top of the spinning wheel are not wires. That is flax, the prepared flax from the flax plant that is held or 'dressed' on the distaff. The spinner then pulled a continuous thread of them in one hand down to the wheel where they would be spun into linen thread. The linen thread would be used to weave linen cloth. This was someone's working spinning wheel that was put away in the middle of a spinning job that was never finished.

I really enjoy the beautiful ornate wallpapers, curtains, mirrors, light fixtures and furniture of these old elegant places. Especially from the 1800s era. Fascinatinating that these kind of places still stand. A testimony of a bygone era. Thank you I've enjoyed your work in presenting this for us to enjoy.

I founded funny and curious that you had never seen a seashell as big as the one you saw on that table. - But then, again, even the oceans had been looted. - When I was little, we would find all types of seashells as we walk on the beach. Now one can only find them for sale.
