Oh hey there James May you're looking well. That was his whole thing with the Panda, wasn't it? You can drive slower cars closer to their limit on normal roads. Was the same for my 107, gotta take that thing right up to 6000rpm for it to do anything.
@JackScarlett15 жыл бұрын
Haha spot on. Although I hasten to add the Abarth IS rapid. You just don't have to go fast for it to be fun
@leiya1075 жыл бұрын
Weyhey!! Fellow 107 driver!!!! I drive my mom's 107 and I just got an Abarth for myself recently. You know what, the 107 only has one flaw IMO -- lack of power. The steering is better, the grip is grippier, and you get other small car perks (which the Abarth doesn't have) like smallest turning circle in the universe and the best fuel economy of a petrol car in the world (my Abarth is killing me with petrol money... not saying it drinks a lot, it doesn't, but compared to the 107 it's night and day!).

Absolutely. I'm currently driving the latest turbo Swift Sport. Before that I had a 2016 normally aspirated model. But totally agree. The turbo Swift Sport is much quicker than the figures suggest. The handling is epic. Sliding around a roundabout has never been so much fun. No need for massive power. Just a small, lightweight chassis and enough power to enjoy it. I've had more powerful cars, and ultimately - they end up being more frustrating.

I thought am I being stupid putting a lot of money down for a fast car. You really understand what the Abarth is all about : fun, fun and fun ! I've been driving Italian cars for already 30 years now and I could not imagine buying a non Italian car, because even an Abarth feels special. You're completely right to say that power is not everything. In the past I had a Ferrari F355 Spider with manual gearbox and tubi exhaust. It was hilarious. One day I had the opportunity to test a 458 Speciale for an hour on normal roads. I thought that it would be even more special, but it wasn't. Alltough the Speciale is much much faster than my 355, the latter gave me also goosebumps when I drove it gently, which was not the case with the Speciale. The Abarth is also a kind of old school group B rallye car. I bought my self in 2019 a new Competizione with manual gearbox and Performance Pack (mechanical diff). It replaces my Maserati Grancabrio MC which was also great fun but too big and to heavy to enjoy on mountain roads (I live in the north of Italy, close to Bergamo, yes the corona epicentre). With a simple ECU remap the engine now produces 205 bhp and 325 Nm, which is more than enough. All the horrible plastics in and outside have been replaced by / covered with carbon fibre, leather and alcantara. For the final result, please watch my video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWW4pmyHlL-kn5o

Awesome video and dream car right there. All the problems (and most of the good parts) i already have on my diesel 500 (modded 120cv), but now i want the fun and the power this little cars have, literally my dream car. *i always say this on my comments, i seriously thought about getting another car cause this car is little, but i love little cars. And i can still fit a full drum kit in my fiat 500 just by putting the rearseats down, so why would i change to car i don't like just to move my drums from time to time? Abarth it will be, hopefully in a near future
@wildeheart29965 жыл бұрын
I love mine, mines the 160 turismo, a quick map will see 185bhp with 240nm torque. That’s more than enough to use on our roads, only thing I’d say is sack off the Pirelli tyres they’re rubbish and get the Michelin PS4.
@JackScarlett15 жыл бұрын
Very nice. Yeah I've heard that a few times about the P zeros now!
@wildeheart29965 жыл бұрын
Jack Scarlett yeah they are really poor. It’s a shame as they ruin the ride and handling for most from the outset.
@peterowbottom11105 жыл бұрын
Do the PS4's make a lot of difference to the ride? I had 4 Abarths now and only had P Zero's on them, but I have nothing to compare them to
@wildeheart29965 жыл бұрын
Pete Rowbottom I find them a little more forgiving but there’s not a lot in it, Quieter though. It’s the performance of them, it’s night and day especially in the wet, I never really trusted the Pirelli when it was anything but dry.

Thanks mate glad you enjoyed. I started off in my grandma's diesel Fiesta before moving on to the Golf, gotta start somewhere! As for the Abarth, I found it a bit of a handful in the wet tbh. Still fun, but definitely not relaxing 😅
