I saw McCartney at Coachella when he headlines and man what a show but sadly that was the last time I think he sounded good. Even though curfew of the event was midnight he played until after 1am because nobody is going to unplug rock and roll royalty so instead they paid 54k in fines. I saw him again at the Hollywood Bowl a couple years later but it was clear he no longer had it due to his age, more croaking out notes and very raspy. In the few videos of recent performances I have seen on youtube I hear the same, he is getting too old for live shows but truly the stars were out in force that night because there were tons of celebrities present and we were sitting near Ozzy and Sharon. Also Paul told a story about the last time he performed here (at the bowl) being "with the lads" which nearly made me tear up as he went on about how he wished John and George were still around.

Back then musicians borrowed from and were inspired by each other. A common refrain from all of the song writers was "I like that! I want to do something like that." And they expanded on it. All the top bands did that, especially regarding Beatles songs. That's why we'll never have such a rich and creative confluence of music again. Early 60's to early 70's.

I can not say if Abbey Road was my personal favorite Beatles album or not. It is impossible for me to choose because I love them all equally. But I can say I feel pretty strongly that it was an example of their best studio performance work bar none. I never tire of it.
@albertschepis18 күн бұрын
Yeah, this was the result of them getting back to playing together like they used to, which Harrison liked and G. Martin insisted upon. Martin said it was mostly a project of his and Paul's, but they all contributed. Ringo said none of the songs were finished, so they crammed them together and recorded it pretty much as one piece. John didn't like that the songs had no relation to each other, which is why he called it junk, but look how great it turned out anyway. Their junk is our treasure. This is their best album side I think, for all those reasons, but I'm with you, it's hard to pick a favorite Beatles anything it's all so good.

Abbey Road is my enduring favourite, as a tour de force of writing, arrangement and playing, with more diversity of key, time signatures, entire musical styles and genres, replete on the album with terrific additional effects. It blows me away still, 48 years since I first started listening to it carefully, aged 15. When you listen to it very intently, there seems to be a dozen different musicians, some of whom are virtuoso players, a wider range of vocal styles than in any comparable 20 minute stretch, not only of Beatles music, but of any other band. It’s also my go-to when I want again to marvel at the skills of the drumming. Just astonishing. Not to forget the producer, the orchestral arranger, the sound engineers & mixers, all woven into a perfect aural artefact. And what a knockout accomplishment for all at The Sheffield Beatles Project. They look to have had a lot of fun pulling this together and finally, pulling it off like they indisputably have. Kudos ❤

Bravo Sheffield Beatles Project!! This is not an easy piece to play or sing with all the movements, harmonies, lead vocal changes. Ive covered it myself so i know all the little intricacies. " Here Comes the Sun King" with its crazy made up foreign lyrics was the tough one for me, you guys pulled it off well. It was great you had female voices doing the high harmonies,,i think on the original record the Beatles had some too. Would love to hear your Orchestra tackle more Beatles songs.

Wow!!! I've always been sad that Beatles didn't do more concerts, especially during the second half of the 60s. From all the countless coverbands I've heard, you guys might be the first ones to capture Beatles' playfulness and imperfect perfections. Converting a studio-album to a live performance, preserving the details/nuances while bringing live, raw energy and soul is EXTREMELY hard and you guys did it so well. I hope the people watching this realise that. I loved how true to the originals you were, like Ringo (and Pauls) drumsolo in The End, the guitarlicks(and effects/sound), and the backing vocals, while still keeping it fresh and soulful. So many nice details. The vocalists were great. The mix/engineering was great. The horns and strings. I'll stop listing great stuff now as everything was great. Keep on rockin guys! Many thanks and much love from Norway
