Cedar wood is one of the woods that last for centries .In our city; Marrakech Morocco.; it is the main wood used in buildings that were built 1300 years ago and it looks as if it was used in those buildings yesterday . Best regards to your poroffessional work; Ben and Isaak and Greg .

Hey Greg, have you ever set up a tire tank below a spring rather than a pond? I have multiple springs on my property and I'm thinking about my options for developing them and using the water.

I wondered about the bark you left on the Red Cedar, is Cedar different from the wood that Out of the Woods mills because he has said never leave the bark on your milled wood? I suppose since the red Cedar will last thirty years it can’t make a difference if it is left on! Must be nasty 🤢 for the insects and stuff but good enough for the mushrooms. I wonder if you liked the cranberry sauce and the green bean casserole or was it a case of it was good boys but don’t make it again . That is what mum’s grandson said about her fiddlehead soup. Your young men might be able to tell you what fiddleheads are!

Bark left on cedar just falls off. Bugs hate eating cedar.

Did you ever have any luck with temporary watering holes? For instance, something you can hook up to the irrigation system, and move the next day.
@gregjudyregenerativerancher
@gregjudyregenerativerancher 3 жыл бұрын
We do have some pressurized water systems on some of our farms that allows us to use a temporary water tank. Awful handy to be able to move the water tank.

We lucked out on our 10 acres with artesian wells all over the property. One of them we put a pump on and draw 25,000-70,000 gallons per day to feed our pond most of the year. If the pump stops we have an Olympic swimming pool in our house basement! So we installed a second 2hp backup pump with 3 day battery backup for electrical outages in Winter! Some gets pumped into an always filled backup 2500 gal. Tank for irrigation and animal water in the late Summer when the springs get slower. They feed a year round creek at the back of the horse paddocks. Fortunately almost all the pasture is high and dry year round.

We use these up here(Manitoba, Canada) unfortunately we do have to heat them in winter. We are hoping to move into using solar-power for the heaters. We definitely have a cover with holes in the top as a cow once got her head stuck in just the beams we had on top. I love the rock around the outside might have to add that to a few of ours! Great info as always!😊

How do you get water from the pond to the tank? What if you don't have the height for gravity to move it for you? Do you recommend a solar pump or do you hard wire power to it?

I hope you revisit this tank when it's finished, and was this the same tire you were filling with Sakrete a few months before and are now putting the finishing touches on?? Maybe link footage of these first two into your next video showing what this watering tank looks like and what the pond that feeds it looks like..jus sayin. Then you will have a full video series of installing a tire watering tank and what the finished result is.

Look for companies that supply road construction tools. They carry the geotextile rolls. If you Google geotextile suppliers and use your closest large town, you will probably get a hit.
