when just using the noise cancelation features on its own, no music playing, how much could you hear and understand with both? i’m not so much looking for really great headphones for listening to music as i am sound reduction as i have AWFUL migraines that leads to being incredibly sensitive to sound. i bought a cheaper pair and it only truly blocked out things like the AC running, and airpods pro don’t reduce as much as I’d want, though that may be impacted by a piercing i have. it’s been hard to find reviews that mention the pure silencing factor without sound playing for everyday sounds and especially people talking and how close to silent it gets in a loud room, but also in just a normal volume room

Didn't mention anything about codecs. I think the special features section was definitely lacking because that is where these headphones really differ. And you didn't at all mention mic quality which is huge as well. The Sonys don't have great microphones and have problems pairing with PCs. Your info on the headphones was very apple heavy. You know the thing about forgetting that you are wearing the Bose QC 35's actually happens to me with the 700's too. In fact, with the 700's I often don't even think about it. With their 20 hour battery life and the great comfort I can simply put them on in each morning when I wake up, wear them all day, then put them on the charger when I go to bed. All with no risk of running out of battery or or my ears beginning to hurt. Also dispite my 700's being more than a year old and are regularly charged overnight (which tends to lead to over charging) the battery life has not been noticeably depleted and still lasts all day even now. I agree about the one issue with the AirPod Max (APM) sound quality being the bass, at least for my ears, but I’m not sure I’d simply say that the Sony is better there. To my ears the APM have some real strong points in the bass, it goes deeper than the Sony and it is clearer and better controlled than the Sony so those are both areas where I would say the APM bass is better than the Sony. My disappointment with the APM bass though, which is why I understand people giving the win to the Sony for bass, is that the APM bass seems to lack some punch and energy especially in the region around where you typically find the kick drum. If only the APM not only had the depth and control of the bass but also had the dynamic punchy nature of the XM4 in the bass frequencies that would be close to perfection for my preferred sound signature.

Fyi- The xm4's retain there EQ setting no matter what device you listen to them on. Set the eq in the Sony app and it follows.

The CD Bose are best for phone calls to and working from home. The cancel out ambient noise and beam point your voice.

I'm starting to think I'm the only one who isn't a fan of noise cancelling. Its ok if I am sat in a safe space of a coffee shop, library etc, but when I am on the move I still want to be somewhat aware of my surroundings with traffic noise, and more importantly the noises people make when they are behind you. As I say I may be the only one but I do find it's the lowest thing on my list. Comfort however, I totally agree, that is at the top if my list especially with my weirdly large head!

I use the EarPods that came with the iPhone XR I bought 3 years ago, and I think they sound perfectly hahaha It's true that you don't know you need something till somebody tells you, you need it haha

Dude. You use apple products. The Apple integration alone meant that they were always going to be the ones you picked. You almost don't have a choice. The sound comfort and everything else is secondary to convenience. That's just the way the consumer is inclined these days.
@MegaSteamfreak3 жыл бұрын
What a fool to think he had a "choice". The fact that the XM4s are in second place proves that he is dependent of the Apple eco system (which is intended from Apple) instead of going for common sense.

I'm currently in an airport and I just popped on the Sony headphones and I actually got a little spooked how quiet everything went so quickly 🙃

Bower and Wilkins user here. Awesome noise cancellation + superb sound quality. It does act out when I am connecting it to my pc and I can’t use microphone yhere. Their microphone sucks

Spot on with the Apple ecosystem factor. If your not already a heavy mac user (watch, tablets, laptops), your wasting your money. Personally, I like the Bose 700s but I am grabbing the Airpod Pro max now that they are cheaper. Recent firmware updates should make the call and sound quality more crisp. A little excited to get them.
