Hey I store my fabric like this already using cereal boxes, costs nothing and I'm recycling.

Two points: 1. I used stainless steel straight pins to fasten folded yardage but it left rust spots on contact, so I would use plastic clips instead. 2. are there any places on the top edge of the large boards to write/erase/rewrite the number of yards that are currently stored on that board, and are easily viewable?

Thanks for your reply. In regards to point 1, I have not had that issue, but thank you for the heads up! That would be sad if you had rust spots on your pretty fabric. On the ones that I am storing on their side, I've not pinned (the fabric folds over the top and hangs down), so that is an option too. 2. When using the tabs for yardage as shown in the video, that leaves about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches of space at the top. I got really excited for a second, thinking that a dry erase marker would work, although, you can wipe it off, it does leave color on the boards. However, you could place a piece of washi tape with the amount remaining on the bolt. Great ideas!! You have my noggin working.

To leave a note Re: Remaining Yardage, are use the ‘peel off dot stickers’ so that - if I cut off a half a yard I can either reduce the number to reflect that, or put on a new dot sticker. Cheap and easy peezy! I use those dots to # other sewing projects while in progress, too. (Place right on fabric of Quilt block rows, etc) You can remove them from fabric & stick them back on a piece of wax paper or plastic to reuse, when quilting, Don’t recommend leaving them stuck on fabric for a long time if you are storing as it may leave a mark. 🤗

These appear to be similar to gator board. It's used in sign making. The stuff is tough and doesn't warp. It's common for election signage. It's a lot more durable than cardboard.
