It's a shame that Despero doesn't really get any love these days. Both he and Mongul get lumped into the same sort of category, the evil space-conqueror that the whole League needs to get together to defeat, and in both cases, most writers usually just go for Darkseid instead.

I believe despero could be a EVEN MORE OP character if he only knew how to properly fight in the beginning if he really wanted to he could possibly contest with the most powerful characters in the universe. i think his own mental blocks keep him from going wild with his powers. i do like how much he changed during the later stories. he became insanely powerful and i love it.

I could imagine that the reason Despero couldn't control the alternate Earths he created was because he "created them" by throwing a wrench in the timeline and caused it to split into alternate timelines rather than actually designing each alternate earth himself.

One of the problems with characters like this, you never see them hit a bad match up lol. Multiple telepaths could crush him. But he never fights extra dimensional beings worth a damn. Also brute force against a universal constant is dumb.

I'm not sure what you even mean by a "bad match up" in this case. Despero fought and beat the entire Justice League several times and was only defeated by things like the intervention of Zatanna, Martian Manhunters Mayavana or a fully bloodlusted post War of the Worlds Superman. Even the JSA and Justice League combined failed to actually stop him. He also did directly overpower Aquaman and Martian Manhunter telepathically at the same time who are already two of the strongest telepaths in DC. Nor is he a universal constant, Despero is hate incarnate but only because his individual hatred is so strong.

It is my opinion but I think it depends on the situation, normal day no immediate dangers must resist a shot without problems, flying through space should be strong enough not to be affected by micro-debris, now the interesting thing when the adrenaline runs and the will to haul a task is necessary they could withstand blows from Superman or an exploding star.

I haven't read all of the Mongul stuff but as far as I am aware he should be a lot more physically powerful than Despero. He was the one who originally taught Superman to not hold back. These characters all tend to get stronger over time though so it's hard to say for sure.

2:17 this part bothers me. not because of scaling, but because of how it get's evolution wrong. partially. mammals, reptiles, and "fish", all evolved from an early mother species. insects *did* have a separate evolutionary path, but they're part of the arthropod clade. also, i looked up the DC fandom wiki article for Nth metal. something i should've done a long time ago. i think DC writers should read that article before giving a powerful, evil telepath, access to metric mega tonnes of the stuff. it is really potent.
