Savicevic not even gets a mention Incredible how he still gets disrespected, overlooked, under appreciated and underrated even 30 years later...
@robbiebowers94752 жыл бұрын
One of the greats. Cappello put him in his team of greatest players he managed...Was the best player on the pitch when they bet Barca 4-0 scoring one the greatest goals in a euro final too.

Underrated players tend to get more underrated with time as less and less people attest to their greatness. Not really a surprise this is the case with Savicevic.
@manoliswec56742 жыл бұрын
underrated to young fans but all in all most great jugos of that era dont mentioned enough cause they enjoy little success in nations cups. in 1992 they could have won euro and also cups beyond but unlike basketball team they werent so dominant b4 civil war

For me this remains the greatest club side I’ve ever seen… and that’s hard to say when you’ve seen Pep’s Barcelona of the mid to late 2000’s and early 2010’s… but yeah, this Milan team had the lot… in by far the most powerful domestic competition on the planet, they changed the way Italian football was played with high pressing and attack is the best form of defence approach… the greatest back 4 of all time, and that Dutch trio… they could outplay you, out battle you and their trophy haul in a 9 year period plus an invincible season wins the day for me!

88-94 is the best side of all time. I think they’d smash the Barcelona team from a decade ago as Milan had a superior defence. I always loved the way Sacchi was inspired from the Dutch side of 1974 and evolved it into something more modern. Sacchi also made the best quote ever when the press were asking him how he could be a top level manager without having played at the top - ‘I didn’t realise you have to be a horse first to become a jockey’ 😂
@wiseonwords2 жыл бұрын
Nope, I have to disagree. The Barcelona side of 2009-2012 would have destroyed Milan.

@@wiseonwords Perhaps it's true because football has evolved and and improved in other areas like health and nutrition. In the same way, I think the current Bayern Munich would beat Pep's Barcelona. Football has evolved again an it's more physical demanding. I remember Pep labeling a Real Madrid squad, developed by Mourinho and Ancelotti, as "athletes" before losing to them by 4 goals. I don't think Pep was trying to diminish them, but clearly making a distinction between their teams. That Real Madrid team was one of the first modern teams in recent history. Now we see how Setien's or Xavi's tactics are useless when Bayern uses someone like Alphonso Davies to run on the wing and easily assist a teammate.
@Metalton952 жыл бұрын
@@edd0f it''s hard to assess, because of the different eras. The old Milan would destroy Barca with old school offside rules, before regulations were made, and when physical play was more lenient. Barca would destroy Milan with modern foul rules, and their influence on the refs.
@anturanggatantra21542 жыл бұрын
@@wiseonwords You must've forgotten how Inter Milan beat Barca in 09/10 ECL. Barca couldn't crack solid defense. AC Milan in 88 had Baresi, Maldini, and Costacurta, in the middle they had Gullit and Rijkaard plus Albertini. Those were sturdy defense. Sturdier than Inter when they beat Barca. All Milan had to do is defend properly, block any kind of tiki taka, and when the chance arise, shift gear to attack and let Van Basten has his opportunity. The score won't be big, maybe 1-0. But Barca would have a very stressful day

Get over it he seem to forget 10mins later he scored one the greatest goals ever by going pass you the team pretty much,side he was clean during 86..drugs only came into his life the 90´s in Italy so your statement is pointless and tbh no one cares..He won World Cup in a pretty shit team Messi never been close wth a decent side then won serie A with Napoli a team who had never even top the league once never mind win it during the time of the possibly the great team ever in Milian and a great Juve side wake up stop being resentful, you'll be a happier also Football never coming home..

Milan used to be one of the most beautiful teams in the world, not even Messi and Xavi's Barca, or Penaldo and Zidane's Real Madrid have ever been capable of what Milan have been capable of in the early 2000s. I keep telling every imbecile and Messi / Penaldo idiot out there that were the 2000s' Milan to face any of Messi's Barca, or Penaldo's Real when all these 3 teams have been at their peaks the mighty Milan would have thrashed them 3-0 or 4-0, just like they've done with Cruyff's Barca in 1994. But nobody believes me, fucking brainwashed Messi / Penaldo hysterics. Unfortunately, I have not been able to follow the 90s Milan because I've been 10 years old back then and I only got vested in football several years later (after the Man Utd - Bayern Munchen 1999 UCL final, more specifically), but shortly after that final I have finally gotten in love with the mighty AC Milan. Watching them fail so miserably in the Champions League has been a big disappointment for me. But then again, I never expected them to perform well given their shit players. Only Kjaer, Leao, Magnan, Benacer, and possibly (just possibly) Tonali are Milan material. Oh, Zlatan, too, but Ibracadabra is too old to matter anymore.... But all other nuisances need to go. If Milan want to get back at top where they belong they need a complete overhaul of the roster because many of those guys can't play football. Theo is technical and good overall, but my God if he's not a pansy and mentally soft! Just shoulder him a little bit and he's rolling on the pitch writing in childbirth's pains *facepalm* Anyway, I've lost a friendship because of the mighty AC Milan of the 2000s, and I don't regret shit. I'm Romanian, but for some reason that I can't explain I like AC Milan more than any of the shitty clubs in my country. Milan is the most non-italian club, so to speak, which is probably why I like them so much, although.... to be fair, most Italian clubs have started being non-italian lately, which is a big win for Serie A in my opinion. Even though I prefer the Italian style of play (defense-based), there is just so much defense that I can stand when watching football games, which is one of the reasons I've stopped following Italian football some 12-15 years ago. But I've checked Serie A again over the last year and apparently they've given up defense for a more attacking football, which makes the games more enjoyable. Well, Milan have been playing like this for at least 20-30 years, which - again - is one of the main reasons I've become their fan. I miss Sheva, Maldini, Seedorf, Pirlo, Kaka, Pippo, Nesta, and Rui Costa so much... all these guys have been potential Ballon d'Or winninrs and they all played for the same team (the mighty AC Milan). How could they not have thrashed Messi and Penaldo's teams then?? Only a fool could not see that

Thanks for your comment. Part 2 of this Milan series will eventually come, looking into the 2000s era of Milan.
