I've always hated summer. It's the toughest part of my year. I have to survive from myself who wants to end everything. You know summer depression. It's school break and I have to stay at home and endure everything. God, I want to escape from my environment and myself. This song just touched my heart. And when summer comes, I'll be sure to keep in mind that maybe it's just not my summer, maybe it's just not my year. Gives me hope and something to look forward to -- a summer that I'm free, a summer that I'll own.

Glad you have the same sentiments as me,it's a depressing season. The only thing summer has gifted me is the visiting of my hometown in Kerela during summer vacations. But i never could spent my time there with satisfaction. I was little kid and spent most of time holed in the house watching TV or playing games, whenever i got the chance i would just spend the evening with cousins playing some kindergarten games ,but It always felt unfulfilled. And now when i have more freedom and awareness, i wanna go back and just explore my home state spend more time with my family. Oooooh 😭 i carve for that place maan,now because of corona, i am stuck here in the house.

I agree with everybody who has commented on this section. I dunno why but I also feel worst and more lost in summer that in the stigmatized blue winter. I hate the heat, the people playing dumb everywhere, the mosquitoes, the noise... I love the order that brings up the fall and the cold of the winter. Well I don't know if my condition of introvert has something to do with that but well. Summer depresses me too.

As a former gifted kid who just failed high school, this entire song hits different. Up until Year-11 I was alright, but my very last year of school has literally been a mess. I spiraled into a catatonic state of depression and have only recently started to recover. I never thought this would happen to me, and none of my teachers saw this coming. I haven't been able to have a genuine moment of happiness in over a year, and nothing feels the same. There's something about all of your worst fears coming true, that really humbles and frees you. I really do need some time away from me. While all my friends will be going off to colleges, posting their decision results, I've got to figure out what I need to do next year so I don't end up an unemployed, homeless nobody. Well...maybe it's just not my summer.

Hey man, I feel really touched by your words and, I kind of understand where you are coming from. I remember year 11, and trying so hard to get top grades for everything. I studied so hard I got a scholarship, only designed for extended year 13s. In year 12 I was put into the top classes and everyone had the highest expectations. I began to break down and I couldn't take as much stress to get everything perfect. This year I'm year 13, I have come home and bawled my eyes out every day. I feel like everything bad is happening and its so overwhelming. I'm terrified of what to come and i'm so sick of everything. I feel like my previous self would be so disappointed in me. Despite this, I've been trying my best to pick myself back up and, while I don't know if theres much consolidation in my words, I promise that everything will be okay. Keep pushing through and aim for your next summer to be the best one yet. I believe in you because I'll be trying my best too

I'm looking into internships to get work experience at the moment and I guess we'll both be grinding for a better summer next year! I don't know whether I'll retake the year or find another educational route---all this uncertainty is both very terrifying and very freeing at the same time, lol. all the best to you too. p.s: somebody recently told me this, "try not to think about what your past self would say abt the situation, and try not to look back to your "glory days" too much. you are you, and the only goal you should have is getting better than now, not trying to get back to being your past self--because that would negate the wisdom and the growth u currently have. I’ve been struggling with my identity as of late, yet this song makes things feel a lot better. The line “I need some time away from me” is so strong for me right now. I need time away from myself, a new perspective maybe. I’ve felt like I’ve been going in circles, only adding onto my fear that I’m fake in everything I do. Oddly enough however, this song feels really comforting. Maybe it’s just not a good time for me.

When I was struggling I spent alot of time alone to really get to know me and it helped a lot. Might not work for you but it's just a thought. Maybe next summer will be your summer (:

this song speaks to me a lot. people often say "ugh winter/autumn is so depressing, there's no sun, and it's so cold" but I've always liked winter more than summer. and not just because I hate heat, but also because I feel a little better when there are less people outside, and the less sunny days mirror my feelings deep inside. but then, there are holidays and the reminder that it's been another year. that brings the pain back.

Hello there. That's been my favourite song for pretty a long time now. However, only now I realised how perfectly it connects to me. This summer I'm leaving for university to another country. I will have to leave everything I'm used to behind. It's already 100% decided, there are even particular dates now, but I just can't accept it for real. Even though I'm not that type of person who depends on people around... Am I going to leave this city? Friends? Karate trainings? I guess it will be the worst August of the past 17 years.
