I've watched your reviews before but this particular one compelled me to subscribe to your channel. I also said it in the comments last week but I really appreciate you guys. I would call myself a lifelong Star Wars fan since my mom is a Star Wars fan and I was born in 1977 when episode 4 came out. Basically I was born a fan lol. I think so many content creators are swaying in one extreme way or the other about this show and all I'm looking for is honest opinions and to still keep it fun in some way. That's what I believe Star Wars always was meant to be is fun. There are a lot of things about this show that I most certainly pick apart as I watch it but I'm in the same boat where I'm still showing up hoping the show runners will deliver something more enjoyable.

I think that a lot of Star Wars fans cannot comprehend what this show is really about. It's not really a who done it but more of a why did they do it? Each episode is designed to peel back another layer with clues. This show is designed to be watched in its entirety until you fully understand what is going on. Think of the movie The Sixth Sense. If you were to cut that movie off in its first half and not see the reveal at the end you wouldn't understand what was truly going on. Just like another movie called The Others.

The concept of Mae completely flipping based on her knowledge of Osha being alive is completely believable. The way it was executed in this episode was done poorly IMO. In a similar vein, even after all these years... after experiencing a lot of Anakin's back story through TCW, books, etc... that scene in Episode III where he flips to the Emperor's side still feels jarring. The back story does definitely help, but to go from confused Jedi to murdering younglings so quickly still doesn't feel completely believable to me.

Exactly, she turning good is not a bad thing (its boring tho xd) but the way it happened all of sudden was very anticlimactic

0:28 Wait! Those three posters hated the show, and then jumped on KZbin to watch it again? Why? Who does that? If you hate the show, stop watching it and move on. Stop trying to ruin other people's viewing. Some want to watch where it's going before going this way or that on the show. And some are enjoying it. If you aren't in either camp, move on. We are four stories in, and you've made up your mind. Move aside and let others enjoy the rest of the series. 2:32 THIS!!!! 11:11 This didn't bother me. Her motivation was driven by hatred. She was convinced that the Jedi killed her sister--she blamed the Jedi for taking Osha from her. When she saw Osha in the last episode, a weight had been lifted; she looked amazed to see her sister. Mae had time to think about what had just transpired on her trip to Khofar. She went from everyone she knew was dead to Osha lives! That's a surprise that would make anyone rethink what they're doing, especially if they're on a mission of revenge--revenge is no longer needed. What was Mae's deal with the Sith Lord? Did he promise to bring back her family? What does Mae get for killing Jedi? 15:05 I loved and hated the last scene. I (I'm sure we all did) wanted more--always leave them wanting more, right? LOL. Next week is going to be interesting. I wonder if we're getting another flashback episode, as there are still shots of Indara and Kelnacca in the trailer that we still haven't seen yet. There was a shot with Kelnacca in his Jedi robes Force-Pushing someone or something to the ground while holding his lightsaber.

More to the point, hatred keeps Dark Side Force users alive. Maul survives being cut in half and falling to his death, Vader survives being burned alive, both the Grand Inquisitor and Reva survive lightsaber stabs through vital organs... "Revenge does wonders for the will to live, don't you think?" Doesn't quite explain Sabine surviving that kidney stab, but then again you don't need both kidneys, and they do have fantasy healing tech like bacta tanks.

I think Mae is under someone's influence. Thats not the first time we have seen her completely change. I think whenever the "sith" person is around, she is easily influenced. Like the scene with the bug. Osha touched the bug before it awoken and someone said, "They are attracted to the light". I wonder if this is the spin that they are putting on the Force?

Ki-Adi Mundi - born much later, is an adult here. Additionally, a person who did not believe in the existence of the Sith is in an investigation to discover the secret of Mae - Sith. This show wants to be the worst because it's a literal insult to the fans. I wonder how far this show will break canon.
@WillRose36 ай бұрын
Ki-Adi has no birth date in canon. They're definitely deviating from his birth date in legends though.
@hehu40256 ай бұрын
@@WillRose3 But his stories from the legends were thrown into the trash and shown that they were never important. Legends should be approached with great respect, especially if the legends were first, and here there is no respect. And my argument that this is a literal insult is more of a 2 argument. They could have used anyone else; they did it intentionally to provoke controversy and annoy fans.
@WillRose36 ай бұрын
@@hehu4025 I mean, surely there is lots of legends stuff that conflicts with current canon. I personally enjoy it when current canon borrows from legends and makes things official, but I don't expect it to happen with everything. As for them doing it "intentionally to provoke controversy and annoy fans", I'm not sure I buy that. I think it's more likely they simply envision a different backstory for him, and feel there are interesting stories and lore to add. I can completely understand people being upset about it though.
@mattpryor2166 ай бұрын
@@hehu4025 lmao dude they're just stories lighten up. They're not canon anymore, you can still read them and they're a separate timeline. No one is throwing anything into the trash, infact they've been re-releasing tons of Legends books in an Essential Legends series, as well as brand new unabridged audiobooks. You can still follow both timelines. and it's only 2 time lines, as opposed to Marvel/DC stories which have literally hundreds of different reboots/timelines.

I think the Sith is going to be Mother Koril but I really hope I'm wrong. It seems too obvious.
@quiden756 ай бұрын
Qimir is a total red herring. You couldn't paint him more obvious if you tried. I still believe the Sith is Koril. The way that the Sith just flicked Osha away makes me believe that person knows and loves her and won't kill her. I will continue to standby that.
@sanctuary26406 ай бұрын
Interesting theory? But why?
@quiden756 ай бұрын
@@sanctuary2640 I watched Episode 3 a couple times, the second time paying close attention to Koril. Koril has odds with Mama over how the girls are raised. She is much more the disciplinarian than Mama and she opposes Osha testing out for the Jedi. Also, she carried the twins so she has a connection to them that Mama never had, even though they call her Mama and not Koril. There is a shot that lingers on Koril looking at the generator system that eventually explodes and she is the one that is most disillusioned by the Jedi and what they represent to the coven. She also is the one witch they made a point not to show using her powers. Also, the Sith is very thin and could easily be a woman. She would want revenge over the death of the coven and her wife, Mama. Osha being alive would do little to change her view of the Jedi and her belief that they must be erradicated. I also think she has been manipulating Mae this whole time because she was more controllable than Osha. Last piece of evidence, look who Mae stands next to when she receives the witch mark. It's Koril and they look like a Rule of 2.
@martinsleight3216 ай бұрын
It's definitely possible. It's being done quite nicely regardless. I'm enjoying it, but I have a problem with the formatting/release of the episodes. Too much cliffhanger, it's giving off Lost vibes. Comes across as annoying. I'd much have rather watched it all in a binge.
@matthewbee1286 ай бұрын
@@quiden75I like that theory but why would Koril go through such an effort to conceal her identity from her own daughter? The one she trained?
@quiden756 ай бұрын
@@matthewbee128 the only thing I can guess is, Koril can better control Mae (and now Osha) if they don't know it's her. Also, if my theory holds, Koril had a more active role in the fire that killed the coven--something that if the twins find out could have them turn on her.

i think my biggest problem is just w episode pacing i think a lot of things ppl are complaining abt (which i understand) re certain characters or plots are actually just part of the incomplete story that we're viewing at face value. This is actually a show i think could benefit from releasing differently in its current form but taking the episodes and making them longer would do a lot to make them successful individually

I'm sooo glad you guys were also caught off guard by Mae's change of heart. I get it. She thought Osha was dead. Now, she has a different perspective, but the whole thing was too abrupt. That's a problem I have with a lot of Disney Star Wars. We're just told a lot of things, so we have to go along with it. But, we don't necessarily feel it. I really didn't feel her sudden change of attitude.

You asked a great question, why give half an hour of boring build up, and give 10 seconds of action? It’s because they know we will continue watching regardless. I hate when shows tease but don’t deliver. It’s better to binge watch the entire season fast forwarding through the slow boring bits which are starting to outweigh the good bits especially in episodes 2&3. They are stringing us along because of the attachment we formed to the original trilogy.

We're pretty closely aligned on this series so far. I've been interested but not excited. I tend to watch it quizzically, like it's a curiosity. This episode was somehow too long and too short. I felt like they were both repeating and reinforcing things we already know. Was it necessary to remind us that we have to keep this investigation underwraps, or that Yord is a tool? Yet, there wasn't enough of the potentially interesting stuff such as, the rapport between Osha and Jecki, establishing the relationship between Mae and her Master, or exactly what you said...more Wookie. Oh yeah, and don't cut away from the epic fight scene. This was a serious disappointment, not only after taking a diversion from the main story, but the unsatisfying length of the entry. Hopefully, this will be the worst episode.

I'm normally not about slamming these Star Wars and Marvel shows that people pile on, but I'm actually in agreement to some degree on this one. I'm pretty sure they are setting up a whole perspective thing here, but the show is doing nothing to key the viewer off to that. The few cool moments from the show are overshadowed by a LOT of bad acting and writing. I'm doing my best to hold out and hope it comes together, but it shouldn't take half the season to accomplish establishing a basic premise and motivations.
