Welcome back, fang gang! Join KZbinr VampX13 as she reviews the fourth episode of The Acolyte, episode 4 Day. The Acolyte is a Star Wars show that is appearing on Disney Plus starring Lee Jung-jae as Sol, Carrie-Anne Moss as Indara, Amandla Stenberg as Mae and Osha, Dafne Keen as Jecki Lon, Manny Jacinto as Qimir, Rebecca Henderson as Vernestra, Charlie Bennet as Yord Fandar. In this episode we also have a cameo of Ki-Adi-Mundi who is played by Derek Arnold. Ki-Aid-Mundi was one of the Jedi Masters on the High Council who we saw back in the Star Wars prequels days. In this series we uncover the mystery of what is happening to a targeted group of Jedi across the galaxy who are being hunted by an assassin with mysterious motives. We also explore what it means to be a Jedi or a Sith - what does it mean to walk the side of the dark or of the light? - especially during the time of the High Republic. Who is this mysterious cult of witches that Mae and Osha were born into? And who is the unknown Master beneath the mask? Could it be a version of or someone connected to Abeloth? What a lovely comment. Although we might not always agree, I too think it's lovely to hear a different perspective sometimes. That's how we learn more about the world and find things we may never have thought of or seen before. I know The Acolyte is not going to be for everyone. I'm not even sure fully how I feel about it yet. But that's the magic of the world! I don't think Wookiepedia is referencing anything canon for his age so they may just say he's older than whatever they're referencing. So it doesn't really bother me. But I totally agree every episode is getting better and better

I too am guessing the next episode will be called Night. I guess 4 and 5 were written as one, so that would fall in line with the dual name episodes.

It's different writing teams actually so I'm not sure about that exactly. But they were definitely written to be two parts of the same story, I'm sure. Not sure how they divide it up when writing the episodes though.

It was a weirdly short run time, this is true. Before I even watched when I heard it was 35 mins, I was like that is weird lol Weirdly short. But I feel like they packed a good amount in. I do think there is something to them needing to always have 8/10 episodes per season for the Disney stuff. Like it's their formula and they refuse to stray from it mainly. But also -- just give the show the number of episodes it needs, Disney, please lol It doesn't always have to be 8/10.

In the credits he's apparently confirmed as being apparently Ki-Adi-Mundi. I also looked up his family tree at least... based on what we knew before (it's probably not cannon now) and his parents weren't jedi as far as I can see.

Maybe they intentionally wanted to get the disconnect between certain episodes, by having different writers, to embrace the "Roshomon" a different point of view. SPOILER: Osha and Mae were 2, split when they were young, but now Osha/Mae are 1 with a split personality.

​@@VampX13imo it still sucks. Mae's 180 heel to face turn was unearned and came out of nowhere. Felt like a 6 year old wrote that. Also episode 7 will be directed by the same person who directed episode 3.

Dont know if it's already commented, but Ki-Adi-Mundi doesn't have a birth dat in Canone, Wikipedia has the legend date, also when the story begins is said 100 years before the raise of the empire so it's not before phantom menace but revenge of the Sith.. 15-10 some years later..

I didn't realize the Episode Insider's Guide for Phantom Menace where it was initially referenced was considered a part of Legends. Huh, interesting. So you are right we don't have an official canonical birth year. Still that would mean Ki-Adi-Mundi is exceptionally old for his race, no? Their typical life span is 60 years ish. If he was assumed to be an adult here and then was around for Phantom Menace and beyond he would be unnaturally old for his species, I think. It's possible I'm sure but still a bit odd. Also I am only seeing everywhere that the series is meant to take place 100 years before Phantom Menace according to various online news sources including Games Radar, Vanity Fair, ScreenRant, and Polygon. So I think Phantom Menace is considered to be the beginning of the rise of the Empire that is referred to during the title cards we see at the beginning of Episode 1. At least based on all the media's reports which likely came from promo info they were given by Disney.

@@VampX13 most likely just changed some unclear lore to have him here. The same happened with Vernestra Rwoh being here. Mirialans had no clear lifespan in canon, but were assumed to be close to humans until Vernestra was confirmed for The Acolyte being well over 100

I guess the only different there is Ki-Adi-Mundi's race had been established in terms of their average lifespan. But once again I think that might all be Legends and no longer canon either. So... here we are. lol I guess Cereans can be older now too.

I didn't know the Insider's Guide was considered a part of Legends. LOL Just learning this now. What a weird thing to put into the Legends box. Even without the no-longer canon birth year though, if we consider that Mundi must be an adult here it still means that Ki-Adi-Mundi is super old, especially for his race, no?
