I've watched a lot of people here on KZbin sharing their perspective on how adversely social media is affecting us and I'll be completely honest your video was the rawest amongst them. Not glamorizing those 30 days detox rather telling the reality.

Okay so this is the most relatable video i've ever encountered relating this topic!! I've deleted social media last year for a few months for all the exact same reasons you've listed. After a month I fell into a really dark place mentally, reality hit me like a truck and all the negative emotions I've been suppresing or distracting myself from FOR YEARS came back to, like you said, bite my ass. Now I'm back on social media because I work with it but I swear to myself i'm gonna find the way to get it out of my life once and for all. THANK YOU this video really spoke to me.

Also, those negative feelings you talked about made me realize we don't use social media because we are "stupid" or "superficial" or "lazy" or any of these things, we use it because there's a benefit we get of off it. Distraction is a self defense mechanism, it's the way our brain chooses to defense itself against unwanted feelings or thoughts. That's how social media keeps us hooked because without it, reality becomes way too real

So true about loneliness, sometimes scrolling the apps feels like mindlessly rummaging through a fridge without ever finding anything actually fulfilling there, but opening 5 minutes later anyway because you are still kinda hungry.

I deleted social media for a year and a half back in 2020. Felt a lot of fomo and got "reeled" back in. I watched your other video on quitting social media and it got me thinking how my life was more peaceful without it. Thanks for the video this video made me have the courage to go back to not having them anymore. 💯

I can relate with the part about when you delete social media you do sense the feeling of loneliness. I have experienced this too especially after this one situation with this woman on social media didn’t work out(learned my lesson with that) and I have been off of social media because of it for way over a month now and I see why people are starting to get off it more

I have been trying to create & work on more meaningful relationships so I wont feel the need to use social media that I use to distract my loneliness. It can even make things feel worse because your looking at other peoples life instead of creating one of your own.

I like what you said there because that's how I feel. I can't stand watching others lives look so great and mine be a complete dull existence.

you can just focus on yourself and better yourself. social media is just about showing off to others and it’s not worth it sometimes. you just gotta live your life.

Hey, do you have any tips on how you broke the habit of finding other things to scroll through like your photos? I’m at the month mark and struggling with this! Never looked at my my online banking so much in my life 🤣 thanks and love your videos on the topic!

Hey 👋 I began replacing it with ""productive""" things (Duolingo, Refind, chess etc). This gave my monkey brain something to do, yet required enough work that it wasn't instantly gratifying and not addictive. I now love doing these things on my phone which is a win because my Spanish is bueno 😎glad you like the vids!!

A lot of what you are describing (after the 30 days) is post-acute withdrawal. It's intensely uncomfortable.

It feels good being off Facebook. Nowadays when I hear about how many friends so-and-so has on there or who did what to whom I just roll my eyes. Who in this world can honestly and truly say that they have over 200 true friends? And be honest, can you have a good photo taken of yourself ALL the time???

❤social media engages you as a facilitator and consumer of products. You are an unpaid worker without a union. You don’t really comprehend time spent to read this. Go ahead and check. You and I don’t know each other. Stop wasting your time and visit your friends and family.

Thank you for sharing this. Very inspiring. Is KZbin a social media? #detox #SoMe
@JoeMambrodi11 ай бұрын
Great question! My answer would be; it depends. How do you use it? Do you scroll mindlessly? Do you seek validation? For me, KZbin is a platform I use to seek information. I don't scroll KZbin waiting for content, I actively seek content. That means I don't ever scroll on it, and when I'm watching it, it's all about the content and not the process of scrolling. This might be different for others

Do you watch KZbin or do you count it as social media?
@JoeMambrodi Жыл бұрын
I love KZbin, however I do have a daily timer set on my phone for it so I can't spend more than 20 minutes a day on it
